Jackson is on fire here. I share the heat ... the love of cats, and all animals. What I especially love about cats is their approach to stuff - our wishes, commands etc - they'll get back to us if they feel like it and don't hold your breath. And yet they are so vulnerable in so many ways, specifically in their need for us humans to understand what moves and grooves them. If you truly understand cats, your understanding of life itself is deepened.

I don't know if Jackson knows how much of an impact his teachings make. I don't like cats but his teachings made all the difference for my abandoned and abused cat. What I love about cats is that you have to earn their trust, and once you have it you have such a bond with them. My cats are much more clingy than my dogs, the seek my presence & affection, & for an animal that is wild at heart, it's an absolute privilege & honour to be loved by them in that way 🥰 To become such an untamed & noble animals favourite person is amazing
@cordeliaface Жыл бұрын
I love the deep relationship built up with a friend cat over time. They get so demanding for affection over time, and when you finally unlock that look of adoration - heart melting. My cats will come up and *demand* I put down the game controller to give them pets. One is more polite and if her demands are not met, she'll settle nearby me, content with the knowledge she will get pets over time simply by being near to me. I am convinced that is why my senior boi used to sleep by my head each night - I would pet him in my sleep :)

I experienced this with my backyard chickens. I would tap on the fence and the rooster would sidle up and let me wrap my arm around him for a hug. It was such a privilege to have that kind of relation with a BIRD.

Cats being kept indoors: VERY American. Almost every cat in the UK is an indoor/outdoor cat. Shelters will refuse to give you a cat unless you intend to let it out. Only exceptions are disabled cats or those with FIV. It's often considered cruel NOT to let cats roam the neighbourhood. Americans and Brits get into huge online arguments about this. My view (as a Brit) is that there are too many cars these days for cats to be safe on the streets. So I made my back garden escape proof and added a cat playground. I've still been turned away by one cat shelter because they didn't think a house and garden was enough space. Almost every house on my street has at least one cat and you have to drive very carefully because a lot of them like to sunbathe in the middle of the road.
@naomihays2132 жыл бұрын
I didn't know shelters wanted you to let cats outdoors. I have had a lot of cats but never needed to adopt from a shelter. I am down to 4 cats and 2 of them are feral and I have tamed them enough they spend time inside but being feral they insist on being outside the most so I let them be cats.😻🙀😸

Thank you for this. My 15 year old Korat goes out all the time and is a neighborhood mascot. One neighbor even planted catnip to entice him to hang out. He is happy and healthy. Our neighborhood has relatively little traffic.
@greeneyedlady72902 жыл бұрын
One of the big reasons why Americans keep our cats indoors is coyotes. Coyotes live everywhere nowadays - along our riverbanks and in our city parks. And they hunt in packs.
@kolitiokada98252 жыл бұрын
@@greeneyedlady7290 Hey GreenEyed Lady! Yes! After 2 occasions in 2 years of thinking coyotes may have gotten the neighborhood stray - I adopted her & built her a catio. Once in a while I tell her she needs to take her human for a "walk about" in the yard - she looks at me like I'm crazy, lets me put the harness & leash on her, and takes me for a little loop around the yard. Then she'll lead me back to the catio's door to be let in :)
@TheItalianoAssassino2 жыл бұрын
It's not American only. Here in Austria/Germany/Western Europe in general, there are a lot of indoor only cats. I have a lot of friends of family with cats and only a single family with a huge garden lets their cats outside on the regular, every other cat is indoor only.

I really enjoyed these two cat history videos. I have been a life-long cat person. Grew up in multi-cat household and have been privileged to share my adult life with several cats. Never took to dogs, birds, fish or other animals the way I have with cats. I see a cat, my mood rises and I want to approach the cat! I find dogs mildly repulsive; I walk away from those obnoxious ugly smelly things. Cats and kittens (OMG!!!) are it for me. Nothing better than a big tabby, or a huge Maine Coon, or a chatty Siamese, or a smart black cat, or an affectionate goofy orange cat! My cat and I have been together for 13 years since she was a kitten, even box trained her and encouraged her to sit on my lap and sleep with me. My buddy who I can't wait to get home to after work!

i used to say i hated cats but really i was terrified of them- i got scratched really bad as a kid and then every cat that approached me afterward i think knew i was scared, and we both had this nervous energy that made positive interactions impossible- it took YEARS of research and finally handling a kitten to kill that fear. AND NOW I HAVE TWO WHOLE CATS 😂 i still don't know how they finally accepted each other either 'cause i feel like i did introductions all wrong, but three weeks later and they're napping together and playing like kittens, and i'm telling everyone i know about how cats just need a little understanding and are truly wonderful lil critters to welcome into your life, and i've been telling my lifelong dog loving Ma about how she can help her Brooklyn neighborhood cats by looking into TNR programs (big shout out to Flatbush Cats!)- i NEVER thought i'd be a cat person but thanks to videos and resources like this i have two lifelong buddies- thank you so much Jackson, for reals

Today, she sat with me, sat on me, followed me from room to room, spoke to me constantly, and appreciated my tactile attentions. She is currently curled up in bed with me. This is how cats are. They act according to mood. Their behaviour changes constantly yet also somehow stays the same- they have personalities. They're just like people. That is why I love them.

It is the curiosity that we have between both of us that bonds us. Thank BTW Jackson for "filling in the blanks" on a lot of the subjects about these wonderful creatures. With cat's it is a journey with them not a destination. And it is sad that we have them for a very short time. I love my kitties, I love my kitties so much I subscribed to this channel so I can learn more about them, treat them how they deserve to be treated... I love them so much everyone laughs at me when I talk about them passionately, but I don't get bothered by that cause they don't understand what I get from my Kitties, and yes, it is the fact that there si some feral side of them and when Sissy lays on my chest it feels more earned than automatic and therefore it FEELS more like love than submission, because that is what it means! WHAT KILLING ANIMAL LAYS NEXT TO ANOTHER SPECIES AND JUST DOESN'T TRY TO KILL IT TO EAT IT?! a smart kind that is complex enough to feel love! shout out to Sissy and Arya ( my old lady!) LOVE THEM, and I LOVED this history of cats! it is just AMAZING! thank you @Jackson Galaxy !!!

Animals are so cool. I recall reading somewhere that people at one time DID attempt to cross-train cats into other uses, much like dogs for herding/hunting/retrieval/etc., but cats were simply too cool to care.

i struggle with my bonded pair sometimes so this historical perspective is so helpful. I grew up with a mama and one of her kittens and I've had one cat at a time all of my adult life. I see the wildness shine through a bit more in how they relate to each other in terms of territory, affection, food security, and dominance from health/weight differences (rescued together by the shelter). Any videos on bonded pairs would be amazing.

26 years!? Wow, Valoria lived a long, happy life for sure! I definitely hope my babies, Mamacita and Beelzebub, live that long too!

I ❤ cats. When they really make me laugh is when they turn around and look at you and you KNOW that mentally they are flipping you off. You have to earn a cats' respect
