I also am tired of it. It took a long time for me to separate what is true Islam and what is culture. In Bangladesh they think it is okay to wear taveez (amulet) which is shirk and they also think it is okay to go down and touch parents feet like Hindus do which is also very bad. May Allah guide us all truly. Ameen.

Yes, but don't be too harsh because they don't know any better. That is what they are taught. We were taught that too until we learned differently. Hate the action, not the people. It is better to sin and be humble and repentant, than to not sin and be arrogant.

We are told not to keep the room (where we kept the mayyad) dark for remaining 40 days because the soul of the person needs to see light and after 40 days it will leaved the house .... Astagfirullah! I personally have objected in few cases and tried to convince them that this is not the Sunnah of our beloved RasullAllah SWA. But my efforts went into vain. Alhamdulilallh, good news is recently there are young generation researchers of Islam and they are spreading authentic ways of the practices primarily through digital platforms. The problem with today's generation of Muslims they have left the authors of 1400 years or classical scholars who have written in their books on important days like number 1, number 7, number 30, and number 40 and number 101. Without knowledge they don't fully understand the significance of 40 days in Islam. To get something rewarded or coming from hardship to rewards it requires 40 days. Below are some examples which tell the person significance of 40 days in Islam. The first human Hazrat Adam was created in 40 days or 40 years. Noah A.S: or Nooh A.S, the rain was rained on the earth for 40 days or 40 years. Yousuf A.S : Father Yakub A.S and Yousuf A.S were separated for 40 years and met after 40 days. Younus A.S : He was in the whale belly for 40days and night and on 41st day he was rewarded with the freedom. Musa A.S : Bani Israel were salve for 400 years in egyptian and they got freedom after that. Allah commanded him to fast for forty days. He appointed his brother Haaroon as his deputy to be in charge of his people, and he fasted for those days. Then Allah revealed the Tawraat (Torah) to him at the mountain of al-Toor (Sinai) Prophet Musa A.S was there for 40 days. Isa A.S or Jesus: He was 40 years he was crucified and he will return at the same age. Our Prophet Mohammed S.A.W: He was going and coming to cave Hira, and he announced it officially to the humans at the age of 40. Even Meccans were aware of the importance of 40. Do you the Islam was a strength with the 40th member it was Hazrat Umar R.A who was the 40th person to accept Islam and start becoming powerful. Don't forget every human keeps evolve in the mother's womb every 40 days. Even if you want to start a good practise or worst you need 40 days and to get molded into it for strong spiritual or evility. Like wise after death 40 days, the Allah will keep changing the condition of grave and death person will either given more or less peace or torment. . . . Keeping doing the good things and transmit the reward to your ancestor or family, it may in form. Because Prohpet Mohammed s.a.w hadees every good act is sadaqa. Where it is 1st day, 3 days, or 40 days or 1 year. . . . May Allah guide everyone.

In SG also have practice of 7 days, 40 days, 100 days.. yes, it brings people together, but making it part of ur deen is wrong. Do it because u love allah and don't constraint it to set number of days.

After going through the comments we find this is practiced in most of the countries in Asia,Africa,Europe, and also in Arab countries, so this is an act widely done by the Muslim world. So the majority cannot be taken for granted as wrong. .

I would like to ask a very important question which is related to the celestial ascension of the Holy Prophet Sayedina Muhammad ( SAW) in the night of Meraj. When the Holy Prophet (SAW ) returned , He asked Hazrat Bilaal ( A.S ) why he ( the Prophet (SAW) ) heard the footsteps of Hazrat Bilaal (A.S) in Jannah. Hazrat Bilaal (A.S) replied that he regularly performs two rakaats nafil just after making wudu, and before performing the Farz salaat. My question is, and I ask Allah Azzawajal to forgive me if I am getting this wrong, because i am a little confused, and this confusion is because several Imams said the same thing, Did the Holy prophet (SAW ) know about this nafil prayer hazrat Bilaal (A.S ) was performing, or he did not know, the reason is because he asked hazrat Bilaal (A.S ) about the sound of the footsteps. If the Holy Prophet (SAW) did not know, would it mean that Hazrat Bilaal (A.S) decided on his own to perform this nafil by himself, and was not asked, or told by the Holy Prophet (SAW ) to do it. I hope you understand my point here. It is NOT about doubting about the capacity of the Holy Prophet that he should be automatically be aware about it and was not aware. My point is, if all what I have mentioned here are correct, it would confirm that Hazrat Bilaal (A.S ) decided to perform this nafil without asking the Holy prophet about it, that is whether he ( hazrat Bilaal (A.S )) could perform this nafil, and whether it was correct and allowed to do it. JazaakAllah

You stick to the Quran and Sunnah. Do not listen to them. Your afterlife is more important than anything. Keep praying to Allah to guide them and us all. They get mad? Let them get mad. Let them say what they want to say, if you are doing the right thing then your conscience will be clear. May Allah give us all hidaya. Ameen.

in Indonesia i think that tradition came from hindu because hindu came to Indonesia far before Islam came. The irony is famous kyai/ustadh from one of biggest Muslim organization knew from his kitab that kenduri is bid'ah munkaroh but he still didn't give naseha to his follower clearly, he afraid bcs so many people did it

Sheikh I think you are making a mistake about pharaoh and the 40 days you mentioned. Let me explain: the 40 days related to the death of pharaohs were primarily about the preservation of the body for the afterlife, the broader symbolism of 40 days as a period of transformation or preparation for a new state of existence links it to the idea of resuscitation or rebirth in a spiritual or eternal sense. And there's a second view about the 40 days in Christianity. I will think that bidaa is more related to that. in Christianity, Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness before beginning his ministry, and after his crucifixion, he is said to have spent 40 days on Earth before ascending to heaven, which can also be viewed as a period of preparation and transformation leading to a form of spiritual renewal. In clear Sheikh Asseem this bidaa is a form of bidaa that cab be linked to Christianity more that pharaohs..... 😊 I hope this can help. Your futur student in Zad Academy.

It's just a matter of reciting Quran, giving in charity or feeding the poor and praying for the deceased. So long as there is no shirk or kufr involved in it, It can be done on 7th day, 40th day or any day. There is no Ayah or hadees preventing it.

He is right in one thing at least. It is an annovation and there is no example of the prophet or his companions engaing in such practices. There is one bit that is wrong though. I mean the Egyptians didnt expect the pharoah to come back in 40 days. I am really not sure where he got this big from. Ancient Egyptians worshipped their pharoahs as living gods. It was part of their religion. A pharoah would spend much of his life building these massive projects, including his / her tomb in their own life. When they died, their bodies would be mummified, organs would be placed in canopic jars, they would also leave food, honey, gold, as well as some of the servants who'd either be left alive or would commit suicide to be with their Pharoah in the afterlife. That he would exit the pyramid into the heavens and these artefacts would be needed in his journey in the next life. No he was not expected to come back in 40 days because the last one didnt either LOL but if you were to ask any Egyptologist, you will get this answer (or a similar one) Chaleeswaan (the word translates to 40th in Urdu / Hindi, has nothing to do with Egyptian. It is more Hindu in nature, signifying 40 days of mourning for the dead. Hope I was able to help May Allah forgive us all and guide us All to the right Path, Ameen
