The History Of Fiber Optics

Some people seem to think that fiber optics is a new technology, but in fact it's history begins back in the mid-1950s. In this FOA Lecture, Jim Hayes, FOA President, who has been involved in fiber optics for most of its existence, tells the story of the development of fiber optic communications, adding in some stories of his own experiences and involvement in the history.
