@@personnepossedant2pieds7 Aix-la-Chapelle is Aachen and was not the administrative capital of the Carolingian Empire, Paris was and most of the administrator were french. Aachen was Charlemagne's favorite imperial residence and was the city he spend the most time in toward the latter part of his reign. However, I think the city does eventually become the capital of the kingdom of Germany when the Holy Roman Empire was created, and also the place where most of the emperors would be crowned. Though, in the end, wherever it was, the capital was mostly symbolic as the realm was mostly decentralized and a monarch had to often travel throughout his domain to rule.
