The nation of Georgia (Georgian: საქართველო sakartvelo) was first unified as a kingdom under the Bagrationi dynasty by the King Bagrat III of Georgia in the early 11th century, arising from several successor states of the ancient kingdoms of Colchis and Iberia. The Kingdom of Georgia flourished during the 11th and 12th centuries under rulers such as King David IV the Builder and Queen Tamar the Great. The kingdom fell to the Mongol invasion by 1243, and after a restoration under George V the Brilliant it fell again to the Timurid Empire in 1403. By 1490, Georgia was fragmented into several petty kingdoms and principalities, which throughout the Early Modern period struggled to maintain their autonomy against Ottoman and Iranian domination until Georgia was finally annexed by the Russian Empire in the 19th century. After a brief period of independence as Democratic Republic of Georgia, the country soon ended up being a Soviet Republic until the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The current republic of Georgia has been independent since 1991.

22:00 Yea those are still around they are provinces, or states. They are regions with their unique sub-cultures. All of those regions are still under Georgian control except Meskheti which we lost to Turkey some time ago, Abkhazeti and northern part of Kartli which is occupied by Russia🥲

The fact of human life on the territory of Georgia since ancient times is confirmed by archaeological excavations conducted in Dmanisi. The fragments of a human skeleton discovered in Dmanisi are the oldest in all of Eurasia, dating back 1,800,000 years. The first political union of Georgians, Diaokhi and Kolkha, was created in the Chorokhi River basin at the end of the 2nd millennium BC, and existed for only a few centuries. They were overthrown by nomadic tribes invading from the north. In the 6th century BC, the Kingdom of Egrisi, or Colchis, was formed. It almost completely united present-day Western Georgia. In the 4th century BC, the Kingdom of Iberia was established in Eastern Georgia. It is the Iberian king Parnavaz who is responsible for the creation of the Georgian alphabet. At the end of the ancient era, the Roman Empire conquered the Kingdom of Egrisi, the Kingdom of Kartli was first a vassal of Rome, and after its weakening, it fell under the influence of Persia. Four principalities were formed on the territory of Western Georgia: the Laz, the Apshils, the Abazgi, and the Sanigi. The Laz principality was especially strong, subordinating the other three to its influence and creating a new state - Lazika.

3:15 Yea there are wolves in Georgia. There was more back in the day but Its called the land of the wolves not because of that. There was a king in the 5th century, Vakhtang "Gorgasali" the latter meaning "Wolfs Head" In Persian. He was called that cause he wore a helmet with a Wolf engraving on it and this man was like 6'4 tall and a great warrior so the Persians would warn eachother with his coming by shouting "Gorgasali"
