My mother gave me a Holly Hobbie apron, potholders and dish towels as a wedding gift in 1978. I still have them and treasure them. I also had a teapot and a tin cannister set. I bought Holly Hobbie calendars every year for about 12 years. The art was so cute, i saved them over 40 years.

Right?! She’s a beautifully drawn character. And I love that it was inspired by hobbie’s daughters. 💙

I had a Holly Hobbie bed cover, curtains and many ornaments which I still have today. In my younger years I spent my time drawing and embroidering Holly Hobbie

Thank you for making this video! I was born in 1977 and grew up with Holly Hobbie. I had the doll and the lunchbox and I still love her! I just found 2 collectors plates at the thrift store too! So now I’m collecting again!

I was born in 1970 and am currently writing a novel, part of which takes place during the time of my own childhood, as the main character is my age. She was into Holly Hobbie just as much as I was. I had the doll and lunchbox and thermos and many other Holly Hobbie things. I still have some of them.

Lovely, my dear. Your narration gets better and better! What made these so popular in the 1970’s in my hometown was the gas crunch, actually. Nobody had money to go to town or to buy fabric, so ragamuffin style clothing truly took off. I always thought she looked a lot like her creator! Sitting in the next room is my little Heather, the brown haired friend of the original, perhaps I should post a couple of pictures for you to file away. I may also still have a little illustrated cardboard play set somewhere. Keep it up, kiddo, these little presentations will be a joy to your daughter forever.

Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I came to YT to join a community of rag doll enthusiasts, but never expected comments on my channel, let alone subscribers. I love the backstory on the ragamuffin style. It makes sense. I wasn't born until 1979 so I don't know much about the '70s firsthand. I'll have to look for the friends of Holly Hobbie. I have a special edition or reissue doll that I got online a few months ago. I shared an unboxing, well today I found the best thing ever! A 1975 Knickerbocker 16" Holly for $5! Can you believe it? I wanted an original doll and this one only has a few spots on her face but other than that looks great. I may share a haul video. Thanks so much for watching and for your lovely comments.
