When my mother's parents came over from Poland they changed their last name, because they did not know how to spell it in English or translate it. So they took my grandfather's middle name and made it their last name. Thank you for your time and effort in bringing this to us. 👍👍👍💕

I had always known the Holy Spirit had told my mother before I was even born to name after Abraham's wife Sarah (though was born Yiscah then Sarai before God had changed it to Sarah) I honestly never knew any other connection until I was reading scripture and had seen my last name Harmon right in Amos 4:3 which is actually the area or place of Samaria. Though the more I learn about Sarah we actually have a lot in common between her life and characteristics. My surname is Herman close to Mount Hermon between Lebanon and Syria. There's actually quite a few other places that are very close too with 1 or 2 letters difference. What really surprised me is when a friend of mine had decided to get her and my families ancestry and noticed right away on my Native father's side names like Damascus (as first & last names) many Abraham's, Noah, Isaac, Elizabeth, Sarah, Jacob and so on which I found pretty neat. I had not known why exactly I had come up with the names Ashley Jordan and Ashton Josiah but they are somewhat names from that area. I always remind people their name has meaning just like we all mean more to our Heavenly Father and Creator. 🦁👑💖

No. In hebrew we call that Mountain "Chermon".I was there in the army,we captured the mountain from the Syrian army in 1973 at a cost of many dead. HARMON is similar to Armon which means "Palace". Its very unscientific to go by last names. Since European jews never used last name until a few centuries ago. Many Jews changed their names after WW2. It could be Greek such as "harmony" it might be Armon as in palace.YOU got it right though with your given name. I know a number of women in Israel named Yiscah (Yiskah) Both Sarah and Yiskah are very wonderful names.

And they certainly not spreading the word Christ around the world. even Jesus Christ said to the Jews in Israel I have not come for you but for the lost sheep of the tribes of Israel. read the gospel of John and you'll see what Jesus Christ thought of these people. I think that you mean Rambam, which is the acronym for Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon (i.e. Moshe son of Maimon). Rambam was a medieval Sephardic Jewish philosopher, who lived in 12th Century Spain. In Jewish history and religion, he was one of the most prolific and influential Torah scholars of the Middle Ages. He was also a physician, an astronomer, a mystic, a philosopher and a talmudist . His greatest achievement was the codification of the Talmud into 413 laws. He is also known by the Greek version of his name: Maimonides, which is Greek for "son of Maimon",

So here's my dilemma: All Punjabi-Indian man had thier last name as Singh=Lion until 40-50 years ago then they began using thier clan name as thier last names and Singh as middle names, and all females are given a first name then Kaur (kavr) as in princess as thier last name including my family. We still practice 40 day thing after giving birth, we don't eat pork, our man traditionally wore turbans, kept beards, kept thier hair long and wore linen under garment ect. Many of our practices are Biblical (OT). Our main staple food roti (bread) is made whole wheat flour and water without yeast, many of the names and words in our language used even now is Aramaic and Hebrew. How did we end up with that? Can anyone shed some light?

I can only throw in what I heard regarding the connection between Judaism & India which is that according to the Bible, Abraham married Ketura after his wife Sarah passed away & had 6 children by her; it says he gave them "gifts & sent then Eastwards" while still alive, to fulfill G-d's promise that "in Isaac your seed shall be named". Our sages explain that the gifts Abraham gave to these sons were "unholy names", meaning spiritual knowledge whose source is unholy with which they could understand great principles of life & use for their own advantage although not the *almost complete knowledge* available for human beings, Abraham acquired by his own efforts for which G-d rewarded him to become the father of the Jewish nation the major carrier of his message. This could explain the great spiritual traditions of India & gifts to humanity in the form of Yoga, medicine, sciences, etc. though being "unholy names", Indians have not been prevented from committing the grave error of idol worshipoing & other excesses of depravity, in complete antithesis to Abraham's mission & message. These could be responsible for the critical social problems plaguing Indian society despite their intelligence, talents & natural resources.

Thank you for this most interesting documentary. I enjoyed it very much. I knew little about the 'Christianisation' of names amongst the Sephardic community...It seems that Jews become hidden from history on a continual basis, a theme that repeats again and again. More recently, it was common to 'anglisize' many surnames when there was movement of Jews from Eastern Europe, to English-speaking nations, following the pogroms. I also had no idea how many monarchs/rulers have issued edicts on the subject of Jewish names.

Very informative. I only wish I knew for sure where our family name comes from. My grandfather was born Sammi Hilinger. His father was forced to take his mother's surname after he came to Frankfurt am Main after WWI because they did not recognize his parents' marriage (a common issue, I have heard). I unfortunately have no idea where she was born, though I know he was born in Western Galicia. I have heard that we might be related to the Austrian Hillingers, which is how we spell our name today, but given that I have been told my great-great grandmother spelled it with one l, it's possible that we may not be part of that branch. I only wish I knew how to find more on her line.

Japheth or Yefet if you're reading The Complete Jewish Bible was the son of Noah or Noach. One of Japheth's sons was Gomer. Gomer had a son whose name was Ashkenaz. The Semitic peoples are said to be the descendants of Shem but in this case it appears that Ashkenaz, although not. Semite, was a worshipper of Jehovah and may have formed a connection to Abraham through marriage to one of Abraham's female descendants. As you know, Jewish heritage is obtained through the female line, At least that's what I've been told.

Note the ongoing error of Rabbis, to recognize the mother, not the father to determine who is a Jew. Scripture clearly indicates the blessing come from the father, not the wife or wives. Jacob married Rachel who wasn't Jewish, in fact an idol worshipper that stole the family idols. Joseph married an Egyptian as written, she bore him 2 sons, both recognized as Jews. Sephardic Jews are seen as distant second by Ashkenazi Jews. Ashkenazi jews couldn't keep track of who was fathering their children. Their remedy was passing the rabbinical law that the mother must be Jewish for the child to be Jewish. DNA results are not acceptable. To discover youre a Sephardic Jew, it means nothing to Ashkenazi Jews, unfortunately its the Ashkenazi that run the show in America, Europe and Israel.

I feel badly that you feel that way. I have great respect for the Sephardic Jewish people and plan on learning Ladino. I think what the Spanish and Portuguese governments did to the Jewish people was horrible. Jewish people have to stand together with all of the anti semitism. We have to fight hatred of all perceived races. To me we are all human beings and there are no races, we are all just people.

Lubin Name Meaning French: from the Germanic personal name Leobin, a pet form of any of the compound names formed with leub, liup, liob ‘dear’, ‘beloved’ as the first element. St. Leobin was a bishop of Chartres in the 6th century (whence the name’s popularity in the Middle Ages), and several places were named Saint-Lubin after him, as for example in Eure, Eure-et-Loir, and Loir-et-Cher. Jewish (from Belarus): habitational name for someone from Lyubin and Lyubny, now in Belarus. Jewish (from Belarus): metronymic from the Yiddish personal name Lube, from eastern Slavic ‘love’.

YHWH is my Creator. Yeshua is my Adonai and Saviour How will the Jewish will be saved today? How He, the God of Israel will save them? (This was during the conference of Bro. Amir Tsarfatti, a Jewish who became a Christian-Jewish and a Pastor) There is a great danger across Christianity right now of what we called dual-covenant. People, or Pastors that suggest that Israel ( Jewish) needs not Christ, because Israel has it's own covenant with God. Let me tell you something. It is to the Jews that Jesus said, "I Am the way, I Am the truth and I Am the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me. Jesus was crying over Jerusalem. If Jerusalem would be saved without him. Why would have he crying over that city? God said in both Isaiah and Amos, He said, "Once He return He will gather them first and then bring them back. That Jesus is going to be accepted by his own people and that they looked at him whom they appears. And they will mourn and cries over His or God's first born. This is the REPENTANCE that will be the KEY to their salvation. No Jew can be saved without believing in the KING of the JEWS. ( Jesus Christ) And that action, we can mention names of Christian leaders, in your household leaders in America. They are not teaching so much on their show but in their churches when they get the opportunity. Well, they say that the Jewish can be saved in one way and the Gentiles can be saved in another way. I'm The first time you ever heard about being "BORN AGAIN ", was Jesus talking to a Jew. Nicodemus was a Jewish. (John 3:1-21) We think that it was, you know maybe Jesus talked to a Baptist person, or maybe to some Lutheran. Jesus told it to Nicodemus, to a Jew. A Jew must be "born again" to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Just like a Gentile, or just like anyone else. It's either Jew or Gentile. You have to come, you have to be born again. Or else you will not see the Kingdom of Heaven. And yet, this is not being thought or this is just a New Covenant stuff. It's being propegated more and more. One of the things that we seize that those things Pastor loved by the establishment in Israel because they post no challenge to the people. It means, they don't say that you need to believe in Jesus Christ. They actually tell Israel, "You are okay without Him." They are like celebrities in Israel. They meet Prime Minister, Minister, Mayors and all of that because nobody feels threatened by them. You know they just give us the past. This is a tragic thing. Because it's either people hate Israel which is one bad thing or they idolize Israel which is another bad thing. And they forget what is we talked about this morning from Luke 19. Jerusalem, if you only knew the things that are made for your peace in the Middle East. The only chance for peace for Israel ever is the Prince of Peace (Jesus Christ). And so when you don't give them the Prince of Peace. It's like you rob from them the only way they can experience PEACE and of course the chance to have ETERNAL LIFE. And here is the fun part, if you're watching right now (Christians) in a Jewish television or news. You need to understand something. We as GENTILES, we worship the GOD of ISRAEL. I am not a Jewish but my God is a Jewish. How was that? The Bible tells us, in ISAIAH, Old testament's Prophet, that God would save the GENTILES and He put their trust in Him. Think about it? The other thing is this. The whole "Born Again" concept of God was writing His salvation in our hearts for those who believe, according to the Old Testament. But the FULFILLMENT of it is in the NEW Testament. The NEW Testament is the ANSWER to the PROMISE of God in the OLD Testament. If you are a Jewish, you can read the PROMISE of God, go to Jeremiah chapters 31, 32,33. Read those and it is there, the doctrine of God's Holy Spirit living in the life of a believer. He goes so far to say in those chapters. God said to Israel (Jews) His people, days of Moses, "The covenant I made with you in Mount Sinai that you broke. God said," I will do a way with that covenant and I will give you a NEW COVENANT that will abide forever... If ISRAEL could be saved by the LAW then why when God gave the Law to Moses, He also gave Moses the instruction that when the LAW (10 Commandments of God) is broken. You have to offer blood for the day that you break the LAW. That BLOOD was to cover sins. Jesus Christ, also called the LAMB of GOD. He died and shed His blood to cover and to pay for the sins of the JEWS and GENTILES ( All people in the world) According to the Bible , in Romans 8:3-4 says, " For what the LAW was powerless to do because it was I'm weakened by the flesh, GOD did by sending His own Son (Jesus Christ) in the LIKENESS of SINFUL FLESH to be a SIN OFFERING. And so GOD condemned SIN in the FLESH in order that the RIGHTEOUS REQUIREMENT of the LAW might be fully met in JEWS and GENTILES (All Of Us that is in the world) who DO not LIVE according to the FLESH but according to the SPIRIT. It came based upon the OLD Testament's Prophets fulfilled the promises of God and as John the Baptist have to said that the LAMB of GOD takes the SIN of the world that is the NEW COVENANT. It is not a new idea. It is an old plan of God. Promised in the OLD and FULFILLED in the NEW. To be more specific read Jeremiah 31:31-34. God said,"I will give you a New Covenant or a New Testament. Additional Scripture, God said in Isaiah 1:11-13; 11 “To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me?”
Says the Lord.
“I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams
And the fat of fed cattle.
I do not delight in the blood of bulls,
Or of lambs or goats. 12 “When you come to appear before Me,
Who has required this from your hand,
To trample My courts? 13 Bring no more futile[a] sacrifices;
Incense is an abomination to Me.
The New Moons, the Sabbaths, and the calling of assemblies-
I cannot endure iniquity and the sacred meeting. Hebrews 10:4-10 says; 4 It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. 5 Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said: “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,
but a body you prepared for me; 6 with burnt offerings and sin offerings
you were not pleased. 7 Then I said, ‘Here I am-it is written about me in the scroll-
I have come to do your will, my God.’”[a] 8 First he said, “Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them”-though they were offered in accordance with the law. 9 Then he said, “Here I am, I have come to do your will.” He sets aside the first to establish the second. 10 And by that will, we have been made holythrough the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Amir's Testimony (former Jewish): I accepted Yeshuwah (Jesus) into my heart without reading a single verse in the NEW Testament. Why? Because I new that God promised in the OLD Testament that He will give us a NEW Testament. So those are enough for me. And then only when I got into the army and in my military uniform there was a pocket right here. I had a small NEW Testament. And my first ever reading my NEW Testament was inside the tank with a little flashlight. And I would read and read many times. But I understand, and I already accepted Him. And any person last 2000 years ago, any Jew that accepted Jesus Christ and follows Jesus. They are Paul, John, Peter, many of them. They had never read the NEW Testament. You have to understand that the NEW Testament is the fulfillment of that "PROMISE of God" in the OLD Testament. Well, how did we know that the NEW Testament is TRUE, without knowing the OLD Testament. Right? Think about it. You'd never knew. That's why Matthew, over and over again says, " And it was DONE, that it might be FULFILLED what just spoken by the Prophets are saying. It's absolutely amazing.

The video is nice, but has many inaccuracies. Jews in Europe did not have non-Jewish nicknames, or kinnuim as you call them, for the most part of our history. Only in the 19th and 20th century, during the Reform movement SOME Jews wanted to become secular and adopted non-Jewish first names. German sounding Jewish first names are Yiddish. Meir, or Mayer, is actually from the Hebrew word meor which means light. Germans also had some Hebrew words in their vocubalury. I speak Hebrew and Yiddish and many German and similiar words in English are actually from a Semitic source and sound similar to the Hebrew words. Last names were forced upon by the governments as you yourself state, they are not nicknames as you stated in the video as well. These German sounding names are also Yiddish names and may sound German because Yiddish is an offshoot of the German language. In many Slavic countries Jews adopted Slavic names with a Jewish twist adding an "itch" in addition to the Yiddish and Hebrew that they added the "itch" to. Ashkenazi Jews did not come from Spain ever, we were never Sephardic. Nor did Ashkenazi Jews come from Turkey. After the destruction of the Second Temple, many Jews migrated to Rome and from there to Ashkenazi lands, Germany and Gaul ( nowadays France), along the Rhine. They oftentimes traveled with the Roman army as suppliers and traders. Ashkenazi Jews also did not emigrate from Russia to Germany, they emigrated TO Russia. And they did not come in the 10th or 11th century. The Yiddish language was already developed at that time. They settled in pre-Christian times in the third century. Also, it is not a fact that Kabbalah originated from Spain as the author who wrote the work of Kabbalah, the Zohar, Rabbi Moses de Leon ascribed the work to Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, a second century sage. You may or may not believe him, but if the author himself said he wrote down the work that Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai already taught in the second century in the Land of Israel or Palestina, as the Romans who ruled at the time called it, and it was passed down the generations orally, you cannot state as a fact that the Zohar originated in Spain.

Quite so. I know the true history. Those in Israel are not the true Israelites but Serphardic and Askenasi Jidish . Dessendants of asia and Banilon . Israel was removed by God. The Woman was hidden . Nut now have been found . I am also a dessendant from the Askanasi . I did do a lot of study . I reconice the surnames . Many old gods are still in the Old Pentateug or Bible . These things caused many problems on our world . You have a very interresting subject .

Very interesting and 100% appreciated! The Sephardic line is never discussed in detail in America. However, I find it hard to decide how valid the whole study can be, when a lie by omission is so prevalent right at the beginning, with the diaspora/migration. Not only did Sephardics need to travel across africa without leaving an remnant along the way, but you ignored the southern migration altogether, since we know of the Ethiopian Hebrews exist. Further, all of Europe in the 15th century knew about he large migration to the slave coast of Africa, which was later covered after the trans-Atlantic slave trade.. Additionally, the Kasars were converts - not migrants - thats an outright revisionist, racist lie.....but I get it.

The Kazhar´s theory has already been dismissed long time ago. The Etiopian Falashas are not 100% sure they are descendents of Oriental Jews, but, anyway, their origin is still under discussion.

Jews were forced to convert so they had to change their names to Christian ones. If they used Hebrew names they would be suspected of retaining their Jewish heritage and they would be killed, likely by your ancestors. Also many Christian names were given for Jews by non-Jews and not used by Jews at all. And for those Jews who wanted to modernize their names in addition to the Hebrew ones given at birth, that's their choice, not yours. People like you disgust me, judging Jews for stupid reasons. Your murderous ancestors should be judged. We Jews went through persecution and murder at the hands of your ancestors regardless if they changed their names or not. It's non of your business what Jews decide to do with their names. The majority of non-Jews changed their names as well, no has names from 5,000 years ago, you idiotic hater.
