I was that 80s kid with the Poly 800 bc a neighborhood friend had one. We midi’d them together and it was truly a magical moment! II always appreciated Korg making an entry level synth at that time.

I remember when the Moog Slim Phatty and the DSI Mopho were the only widely available entry level analog synths around. Those tiny Monotorons and later the Monotribe really opened the doors for the low end market. They were mostly toys made to a budget but they were a real gateway for generations who had never experienced an analog synth before.

Well you forget before Mopho was the Evolver desktop and was low priced back then . There where other MFB , Vermona , MAM ,Waldorf Pulse , Spectral Audio Neptune and many others .

I got a 700S in 1976. Magic. You failed to mention the Sigma Lambda and Delta? I saw these at a launch roadshow in Derby back in the day. Remember the roadshows? Roland did them too. I got to try their first guitar synth at the London Synthesizer centre back in 77 or 78? The Demo artist explained he’d been to Mike Rutherford’s house to help him get the best out of it. Everyone’s a winner. Roland AND Korg. Lovely instruments. Thank you for making the affordable 700S. My grand Pa gave me the savings he had for me. ❤👍🏼

YES !! I remember those Roadshows ! 🙂 They were great - Korg, Roland and Yamaha did them.... I also remember the Musician's Union did some as well, so they were independent of a particular manufacturers gear. Aside from getting to see/hear the latest and classic gear demos, there were brochures/catalogues/product leaflets and always loads of merch and giveaways too....... Sadly, things that virtually all manufacturers don't bother doing these days. I miss those times.....

2:44 - it was the 1st and ONLY analogue vocoder by Korg. 9:59 - the silver Prologue 16 with chrome keys looks totally 80's Battlestar Galactica - I want one 😄 This over all shows that Korg from time to time manages to come up with just the right product for the populous but somehow terminates it (with the exception of microKorg), and then decades later realises that people are still wanting improved originals. Maybe in two or three decades we'll get Z1 and Radias mark II versions, or Electribe with pure analogue sections (drumlogue was on the right path). Looking forward to Korg Berlin new creations....

I enjoy your videos on this channel. Can you do a video on artists/producers who have a simple set up as it can be overwhelming if you don’t have the room. Cheers
@MusicRadarTechАй бұрын
Thanks. We have a few artist feature coming up with musicians who are doing really interesting and innovative things but mostly working with just plugins, so they should be a good example of why you don't need a huge room and loads of hardware to make great music.

I have log thought that the original PS models were like “Past-Present-Future” as of 1977. The “past” part is in its modular architecture. The “present” part involves the achievement of full polyphony which is likely the same method utilized in the ARP Omni and other contemporaries. The “future” part pertains to the presence of the presets, heralding models like the Prophet 5.

I appreciate that this museum exhibit doesn't have every single piece of Korg gear made, but why limit this to just 21, by skipping over many which are obviously there, in shot, in the video....?? Longer. comprehensive version please 🙂

My Korg 700 is called a Univox MiniKorg. Serial number 293. I ought it second hand in around 1973. I also have an old Korg Polysix. I bought it not long after they were first released. Sadly, neither of these old babies work but I am planning on taking them to a vintage synth repair shop. i also own a Wavestation EX, it's my second, A King Korg and what i believe is the 5th 73 key Kronos sold in Canada. Love Korgs and i hope they come out with a proper successor to the Kronos soon. One that has even more hands on controls. The Nautilus was a huge let down for us Kronos users. I had an m3R but I had to sell it.

I forgot, I also had a Poly 800 EX but it was stolen and up until about 7 years ago I had a Triton Pro EX 88 key that I sold. Love Korgs! In fact, I've only had a couple of non Korgs. I had a Roland U-20, actually I went through 3 of them. Lovely little keyboard. Well designed but not too sturdy when it came to the buttons, and my Moog Grandmother which I love.

I played the Korg PS-3300 at the museum, I want it. Unfortunately, both Korg JP and Korg UK have been very uncooperative in providing any information how to pre-order that thing. I even offered a down-payment but I have the feeling they don't want to make any sales really. Very unprofessional and disappointing.

@@thepearlworksOne could argue the Fairlight and Synclavier being workstations since they had the sounds as the multi timbral sequencing capabilities yet are mostly regarded as samplers. The word "workstation" I believe to have appeared first on the M1 yet Korg defining a workstation made other synthesizers/samplers a workstation by this definition. The M1 is regarded as the first workstation since it was the first gear to carry that word on it.

“modern circuitry” this is the problem #korg , if the PS is surface mount circuitry inside it is ABSOLUTELY NOT WORTH THE PRICE as this would mean for the customer to pay premium price for the same technology like Behringer . If the instrument is not THROUGH HOLE CIRCUITRY it is not worth it, just stick with VST
