Laura, the first vintage "lipstick" container you show is actually a perfume vial bullet from the company Evyan. My grandmother passed along the exact same bullet to me but I do have the little glass and metal perfume vial still inside! The fragrance is very old and definitely not my style, but it is a really interesting vintage perfume anyways. Happy to send along a pic if interested.

The brand Coty was found in every drugstore around me. The brand is very dear to me. My first memories of the brand were at a local, Drugstore/Soda Fountain. The shop served Soda Fountain classics, until the late 1980's. My Mother would take me there for a Malted and I would absorb the sight of the lovely cosmetics. Pan makeup (foundation), cake mascara, pretty compacts and Coty Lipsticks could be found there. In my teen years, my favorite, everday red, was Tomato Red by Coty. It remained my go to lipstick, until the 1990's. Coty Lipstick was removed from stores and I miss that formula dearly :(.

My first lipstick was in 1971 from Yardley. I was only a preteen and I loved it so much. It was a frosted warm pink called Strawberry. Lipsticks sold in drugstores back then were traditional metal tubes and they were so lovely and fun. It was a challenge to find a shade that worked for light olive skin like mine so you had to experiment a little. But it was so much fun to shop for.

You can fix any tube of lip stick that won't go up. The outer metal case slides off the tube exposing the inner works of the tube, you can then re set the tube so that the lip stick will move up and down again. Once you have it working, slide the outer tube back in place till it clicks and you will have a working lip stick. I fix mine that way all the time. If you wish to use the tubes over with fresh modern lip stick put in in the freezer till its hard then pull the bullet of lip stick out and replace with a new favorite.

Hi Laura, I remember the brown Coty compact with the lipstick when I was a little girl. The white with blue stripes Sharon Tate I remember too. They also made an orange/white tube similar to the blue/white one. I went to the neighbor's garage sale when I was in 2nd grade and I got the white lipstick that was in style in the late 60s kind of a mod color at the time, and I wore it. My mother about died laughing at me because I liked it which it probably was old too. :) I remember the Avon lady lippy samples that were white tiny tubes One thing I remember in the early 1990s when you could buy Max Factor in the US still and they made metal lipstick cases even then. When I was in about 4th grade, about 1977 all of us girls had Bonnie Bell lipglosses. They were in huge sticks in Bubblegum, Watermelon, and Butterscotch. I do not know of the lipstick from the 1930s. I could not make out the name. Maybe on Pinterest if you look up the name you could possibly find an advertisement that matches it to date it. I kind of went down memory late here! I love your collection it is wonderful!! :) Becki

@@Laurajaneatelier , Laura I'm just like you! 🤣 I still use their bar soaps with the pretty packaging. Oatmeal/Vanilla, Creamy Coconut & Lavender. They may have a body powder. I love body powders! Looking to buy Vintage Avon Moonwind body powder. Laura you inspired me to start a Vintage Avon Collection. It's growing! I just live those Victorian ladies you have on your dresser I think. Have a beautiful day! 😘 Squeeze Pinky for me please! He's so darn cuuuute! 🤣🐈🐾🐾💞

Sue Whelan , thank you for your reply , sorry can't remember the name of the lipstick , I was quite young at the time ! Mum then went on to wear a Max Factor lipstick called Strawberry Meringue in the 1970s' as I wear a similar colour in the summer in memory of her , it is called Peony Blossom 12 from Lidl food stores , such a contrast from the fifties red lipstick !!

I remember in my twenties while working , I purchased a couple of Max Factor products, that I loved so much . Pan Stick makeup, pan makeup, a couple of lipsticks . One of my favorite was Sequin Red .

My discontinued lipstick was from the 1980's by Max Factor called Metal Light. I was so frantic that I had Three Custom Colors make a dupe from what remained in the tube but it wasn't the same colour or texture. I have bought so many trying to replicate it. :( City had great textured lipsticks. A vintage cheapie brand from the 1980's in Canada called Caroline. They had some good shades. Haven't seen them since.

I remember Frances Denny too--found alongside Estee Lauder, etc., in better dept stores up to about the mid-70's when I was starting to be concious of beauty products! You might be thinking of Interlude, a rich spicy-oriental type somewhat like Youth Dew but not as overpowering.

Yes Mary Quant was a very big seller back in 60’s she came in during the British Invasion along with Twiggy and sold these lipsticks in Potts and were very popular she called them her potted jams and they came in all Color’s her most popular color was a deep blackish purple that was her best seller back in the sixties l was in Jr high at the time and Yardley came out with lipsticks and they called them Slicker’s because if you wanted to you could lay them over your lipstick for a gloss effect slickers Color’s were all very light and shimmery were you could wear them plain or as a gloss brings back fond memories of my youth and the British bands ❤️

Which brand do you think the coral lipstick that Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast at Tiffany’s? I’ve been kinda search for it anywhere but still have no idea what lipstick brand that she used

Thank you so much! ❤️❤️❤️ I was a little bit skeptical when many people said that it wasn’t. But I found a similarity between the lipstick that she wore in the movie and Revlon’s vintage lipstick case was actually very similar. Thank yooouu! ❤️❤️❤️

Is it true if the vintage lipstick tubes have lipstick in it are worth more than clean empty tubes? I have about 16 lipsticks from tangee, ponds, Don Juan, Revlon, Colgate and others...... Yeah I stop at 70s too.

Laura, you have your pics from old advertisements…I have been looking for old magazines, but they are so costly! Do you print them? If so, do you think your printer works well for this? My printer is shot I think and keep trying to figure out what kind of printer I need!

@@Laurajaneatelier OH! Thank you! I’m not stupid about computer stuff but for some reason this whole printing thing seems out of my element! LoL! I want to make a big collage of pics. Some old Christian Dior ads are super cute! I have watched you years and years ago, and am hooked again. I kinda stopped cruising YT I guess for awhile. I was checking out your makeup books on Amazon. Man! They’re pricey! But so fun! Also-I had those big eye dolls when I was little. Probably 1977-79ish? My grandparents used to go to Reno and bring me back one. I don’t have them anymore. You have the cutest stuff and I love studying your space! I can’t believe the money you invest for your videos!
