The similarities with Morpheus, and John The Baptist is hard to ignore...anybody else realize the reason Neo had to sacrifice himself, and die was because when he killed Agent Smith he killed the negative version of himself...Neo was both the virus, and the savior...the perfect anomaly to keep the Matrix going when he basically commits suicide

They do indeed love a Biblical/philosophical/spiritual.... metaphor. Thomas' father?: John Anderson. (documentation Smith has) But also the 'doubting Thomas' theme might overlap- putting a hand into a wound is echoed in the assimilation scenes. There's also the yin-yang stuff including the white suited Architect, Mobil Ave, white rabbit.... and black such as the sunglasses, agents and some of the red pills. Who else is still hoping that Laurence Fishburn was secretly cast in Matrix 4 ? You just can't kill such an important character off screen unless you have a big problem with the actor which doesn't seem to be the case, it would be so disrespectful. I still have hope. Another big problem if Laurence doesn't come back is that you have the two most talented actors of the franchise not coming back(Laurence Fishburn and Hugo Weaving). No disrespect to the other members of the cast, I love them but Laurence and Hugo are definitely on an other level, there is something Shakespearian/theatrical in there acting, I don't know but you get it. Imagine a sports team getting rid of its two best players before the season starts, not a good sign for the season. Lastly, as much as I like Hugo, I think it would have been lazy to have him again as the antagonist, however Morpheus could still be a very interesting figure in many ways, hero or vilain. I still have hope of a big "Ta daaa he s here!"

Number six is the "name" of a person in the tv show "the prisoner". That show brings up some similar themes, and its playing on the old ladies TV when Neo bolts through their appartment to get to the exit in the end of movie #1. I assume they wanted that reference in there. They scrapped it from the first movie and put it in the second.

It seems that what eventually became the whole "5 previous versions of The One and past interations of the matrix" twist was evolved from this more simple concept that originally Neo's "predecessors" were just potentials who were led to believe they were the one and died. And most likely Morpheus' line about "everyone" who fought an agent has died, but where they "failed" Neo will succeed originally was referring to Neo's predecessors

This version of the simulation went the way it did, differently than the others because of Smith. Without him as Neos bargaining chip, there would have been no reason for deus ex machina to strike a deal with Neo. And because of that, Neo was able to save the remaining Zion inhabitants. It’s basically all the pieces had to align perfectly for it to turn out the way it did, as in different than before. Just like Smith said to himself after Neo beat down the three upgraded agents. “That went as expected.” “It’s happening exactly as before.” “Well, not exactly.” Hahahahah And due to that change, everything else had to fall into place perfectly for Neo to be able to do what he did.

Neos love being more specific was also a change. From that I derive the Agents used to hate all humans, but Smith hated Neo specifically. Honestly not sure why that would make much of a difference, but it does seem to be the case.

When Trinity (presumably) hacks into his computer while he's asleep at his desk, the message comes up, "The Matrix has you." It's very possible that this was the first time he'd been exposed to the word in a context other than advanced math. This, with his paranoid and questioning nature, the feeling of wrongness that Morpheus explained to him, made this stick - as the Nebuchadnezzar crew likely knew it would.

It took some searching but I eventually found it. This (3:08) is what I thought of after seeing the trailer for TM: Resurrections. I think the actor in TM:R looks like Morpheus in the picture timestamped.

Every character and their story is a symbol/ archetype for each element of the journey of waking up. Morpheus in greek mythology is "the son of sleep who appears in dreams in human form" Morpheus for me is the personification of belief and faith and he shows us the pitfalls and benifit associated with it. In terms of waking up Morpheus has put Neo further into slumber.

The show "the prisoner" touched on similar themes. The main character was called "number six". This show is playing in the old ladies appartment towards the end of the first movie. Morpheus and The Architect are one and the same. Morpheus is The Architect and The Architect is Morpheus. That is how Morpheus knew Neo was The One. Since The Architect designed The Matrix, he knows how to manipulate it. Which means, The Architect could move in and out of Zion whenever he chooses to and become anybody he chooses to be. (Side note: The Architect is not The Agents for they have a different program/purpose within The Matrix) Remember Zion is part of the Matrix as well. Everyone with some form of knowledge of The Matrix who has helped Mr. Anderson in some fashion, (with the exception of the Oracle) was in fact, The Architect preparing him to embody his alter ego, Neo, for the purpose of being The One. As Agent Smith said, "Everyone has a purpose." Ergo, through watching Mr. Anderson's behavior while plugged into The Matrix by The Machines and the feelings he had of something not being right, The Architect chose him to be The One for that particular design of The Matrix. Trinity said, "Follow the White Rabbit." That woman with the rabbit tattoo was, The Architect. The Architect was a White Man in a White Suit or gray symbolizing a dirty white suit because he was on dirt with everybody. Ergo, The White Rabbit and, The Matrix is his Rabbit Hole. Meaning, "Follow The Architect as he guides you down His Matrix." As Morpheus said, "I will show you how deep the Rabbit Hole goes." In the end it was The Architect who showed Neo how deep the Rabbit Hole truly went by showing him various layers over time while portraying himself as Morpheus. The Architect has no understanding of human emotion. So what better way to achieve that but to become one of the people and the best way to control the minds of people is through religion. An emotional religious fanatic was what The Architect was in the form of Morpheus and used The Oracle as a guide to achieve that goal. To sum all of this up, The Architect is moving through The Matrix fucking with the minds of the unplugged red pills of Zion, (by way of a religious belief) people who believe that they are awake and, The Oracle was a program put in place to perpetuate that belief. This is The Oracle's purpose and is why the unplugged red pills can only see her when plugged in. She is a program designed to make them believe that they are special from the people who are still plugged in by The Machines. But, what the red pills of Zion don't realize is, they too are still plugged in by The Machines and Zion itself and all born there are merely parts of the program, a simulation. (The people of Zion are not real people.) All of the red pills are still asleep and are a battery source for The Machines. By the way, Everyone wearing white are symbols of The White Rabbit to show The Architect's presence around Mr. Anderson/Neo. Switch is the only one of the Nebuchadnezzar crew wearing white and her name (Switch) means that The Architect came to Mr. Anderson/Neo in the form of Morpheus. Seraph wears white also. As Seraph said, "I protect that which matters most." What matters most is not The Oracle. What matters most is the stability of The Matrix. Seraph's programming was to maintain the balance between the unplugged red pills and The Oracle to keep her from being too emotionally involved with them and them with her. This is why he looks like he's meditating when Neo approaches him. Meditation is a form of maintaining balance. The Oracle is a black woman programmed with the understanding of human emotion and the capability to embody it. If she gets emotionally involved, the ramifications of that act could be catastrophic to The Matrix's design. She needed to be watched. Seraph always stopped her from speaking too much. He made sure that each encounter with the unplugged red pills was kept short and to the point.

Interesting knowing a potential One in the mind of Morpheus and who was awakened leaving his sweet girl friend behind in the Matrix, is a recipie for desaster if they can't let go. I find it interesting that potential snuck back into the Matrix to see his blue pill girl friend but was caught by the agents. That in itself brings me back to a question someone ask in a previous video about why the operators seen operating the ship assigned to Morpheus, were not grown by the machine and hooked up to the Matrix but were born the natural way in Zion. My answer to that question was an assumption maybe it's because having a red pill who were freed from the Matrix will be easily tempted to contact family, friends or a love companion because they still remember living in the Matrix and knows how that simulation operates. Not having a red pill become an operator or at least Morpheus not having a red pill operator, is maybe it's a precaution against distractions of an operator not paying attention at all times in case an agent is fast on their tale and they need to find an exit. If an operator is distracted with memories of his past while the Morpheus and crew is hooked up to the Matrix, that can be a dangerous gamble if they need to find an exit really fast. The guy who was mentioned in this video who snuck in the Matrix to see his blue pill girl friend is a serious problem if that person was the only available operator that is alive in zion or just for a particular ship. I also said that anyone who was freed from the Matrix was either declared missing, dead or on the run from the law and clasified a fugitive just like all the red pills being chased by agents. Trying to contact a love one or friend who is still apart of the Matrix is avoided at all cost by red pills because people still plugged in thinks something happened to you and if they thought you died, trying to see them will be a bad idea and even worst, an agent can take over the body of that person and give them an easy access to catching you.

The prophesy was not a lie. The Oracle was created to address the failure of The Architect to understand humanity, resulting in the first successful Matrix. From the moment she existed, she knew the whole future. She saw The Architect coldly calculating humanity's demise, and knew it would lead to the destruction of both civilizations. She simultaneously saw humanity rise up and overthrow their oppressors, leading them to freedom, but also exposing them to the slow death a meager existence on a dead world under a cruel sky provides. Understanding why it must be made, she chose to deceive, not only humanity with the notion of The One, but also The Architect, with the notion of choice. She laid out a path through future calamities that eventually lead to mutual understanding and acceptance, albeit, tenuous. Her subtle manipulations gave The Architect a false sense of control, while making him openly acknowledge his ultimate lack of control through the choice of The One. She gave humanity a false sense of destiny through the prophesy of The One, which was not destined, but crafted by the system. Eventually, through many cycles of The Matrix, both sides grew to realize that they could not survive without the other. As humanity provides life for the machines, the machines provide purpose to humanity. The Oracle foresaw the destruction The Architect's subjugation would lead to, and enacted a plan to show him another way, a way that was founded on real choice. True purpose. The prophesy foretold of The One, who would free humanity from bondage, and that is exactly what Neo did. He brought reality to The Matrix, and setup a symbiosis of man and machine that subjugation could never achieve. Humanity is now free to choose its own destiny. True freedom, with open eyes. That is no lie.
