With humans being a CPU for the Matrix and taking Animatrix into account, I wholeheartedly think that the machines are altruistic in their efforts to create a simulation for humans. The machines witnessed their creators reject their sentience, fear their sovereignty, and blacken the skies, killing the Earth in the process. The machines tried to make peace multiple times, they even went so far as to try and integrate into human society by joining the UN. Each attempt was met with violence. The machines have seen and felt the self destructive nature of humanity first hand. The machines thus had no choice but to put humans into their simulation or let them die off like the rest of the planet. The first Matrix they invisioned for people was essentially heaven, but it didn't account for people's choice thus creating the first anomaly, or a human with the remainder of the code used to make the Matrix. This would eventually lead the architect to create the orical who figured out people needed to have a subconscious choice. Next it would lead the machines to restore or create Zion for the humans who rejected the simulation. But this leads to another problem for the Matrix seeing as the redpills are still at war with the machines. This lead to the creation of the prophecy of the one in which the anomaly would return to the source so that the Matrix has its complete code in order to do a system wide reboot of the simulation. In order to maintain control of the humans they need to also "wipe" Zion clean in order to have a balanced equation. With all that being said I do believe the Orical is also working for the betterment of both man and machine. In the conversation between Neo and the Architect, the Architect tells Neo that the anomalies before him all felt love for the human race generally, while Neo felt the love of a single individual, Trinity. This is due to the Orical manipulating both into falling in love. This causes Neo to reject going to the source to restart Zion and the Matrix. The Architect tells the Orical that she played a dangerous game by allowing Smith to assimilate her program which could've resulted in both man and machines downfall. The Orical even stated herself to the Architect, with no human presence around, that she just wanted peace. I could talk about Sati and how I think the machines are evolving but I've ramble enough.

What I would like explained, which NOBODY EVER TALKED ABOUT, is how a sentinel passed straight through Neo's body when he's flying with Trinity to Machine City. To me, that's the definitive proof that Zion, Machine City and The Desert of the Real are just another layer of the simulation.

2 years late, but for the curious I think the explanation is: When you see 'Yellow', you aren't seeing 'real'. You're seeing the machines 'spirits', the virtual level between The Matrix (green) and The Real (blue). That Sentinel was attacking Neo both physically and virtually, so we see the Sentinal get blasted away in realspace but go through him in virtual space.

The scene between Neo and the Architect in Reloaded is the most critical scene in the trilogy with respect to lore and history. It is entirely possible that the “Real World” isn’t real at all and is only another level within the Matrix to test human behavior. They have destroyed Zion 5 times before and it didn’t make full sense to me. When Neo chose to save Trinity’s life, it really seemed to be part of an RPG video game and that is pretty much what the Matrix is in a nutshell. I think all of it is one large simulation being ran by humans, not machines, in the actual real world. Then again, I could be wrong as hell.

Maybe the machines have not yet achieved true self consciousness. Or even if they did, maybe they have not been able to develop emotions. Maybe the ultimate goal is to become human since emotions create a feeling of purpose in life. There has always been the theme of developing from one extreme to the other. The programs show they are developing self consciousness and the ability to make their own choice. Smith started off as cold but by movie 3 he is very human like with the full ability to feel anger, fear, and joyous laughter. Neo on the other hand (as well as the other rebels) show that they are becoming machine-like in their appearance, decision making, and even speech style.

I don't buy the whole - "It takes _more_ to keep them alive," narrative. (Granted, if it is legit, then it could mean that the Matrix is actually more akin to a Zoo or a Wildlife Preserve - the only environment in which humans can now exist, or face extinction.) But when it comes to the narrative, every argument I've heard for it only considers that _immobile_ human beings are inefficient at creating energy. Some have even argued to claim that this makes the Matrix _irrelevant_ as they should just put all humans in a comatose state to not waste resources. Except hold on...Just because the human bodies are _immobile_ doesn't mean they are _not-active._ Riddle-me-this...What are the plugs along the human bodies for? The one at the back of the head keeps the mind _inside_ the Matrix; but what are the other's for? Each of those plugs are connected to _major muscle centers_ of the human body. How do muscles work? Well a muscle movement is nothing more than a contraction caused by an electrical-signal sent from the brain to the muscle, indicating that it is time to move. Most muscle actions performed by a human occur unconsciously - we instinctively do it in a lot of ways, so very quickly. Those plugs are there, because the cables connected to them are _harvesting_ the bio-electricity generated by the brain to induce muscle-movement. That's why the human beings _need_ to be plugged into the Matrix - to convince them that they are leading an _active life._ (It's also why there's no fat-people in the Matrix.) As long as they are in the simulation, they are convinced that every action they make is _actually happening._ it could be as simple as walking, jumping, waving your arms; but every bit of electricity is being _stolen_ by the machines. That's why the humans' muscles are atrophied when they wake-up; they never had the chance to be used because it's all been stolen before it reached its destination. The only muscle-contractions that the humans are allowed to have are the electrical signals in the brain, and those that go to the Heart and Lungs - and probably the stomach too. Now someone might make the argument that even this would constitute only such a _small_ amount of energy that it hardly seems worth it. Except these muscle actions number in the _billions_ per day; I would think that even at a fraction of an amount, a billion fractions will eventually add-up to something more _substantial._ And keep in mind, whereas Zion only has about a quarter of a _million_ citizens...There are Millions if not Hundreds of Millions if not _Billions_ of people still hooked-up to the power-plant and plugged into the Matrix. So Billions of people each generating Billions of muscle movement electrical-outputs per day; I'd say that the numbers can get pretty damn high. (It's like when you build an automatic farm in Minecraft; more often than not, one module of the farm only yields small results; but if you stack multiple modules at once, your output increases exponentially.) And the simple fact is, even if they don't have that many people in the Matrix, they still have more than enough to work with. They have a near endless supply of human beings thanks to the Fields which Morpheus describes as _endless._
@metamorphicorder4 жыл бұрын
You put a lot of thought into that i give you that. And while the internal logic is consistent, the basis is flawed. I dont think they are harvesting energy directly from the bodies in the form of bioelectrical energy. Its more likely that those cables do the opposite. The human body actually doesnt generate very much bio electrical energy AT ALL. Its very very very small. And most of that isnt harvestable, as it occurs on the cellular level within tissues distributed throughout the entire body. The body is very efficient. It doesnt take much to signal an action, the bulk of the energy is used in the doing of the action. It generates heat. And given that the original idea was as stated for them to be auxiliary computational power, its not suprising that they didnt spend a large ammount of time developing the details of the concept. They simply mentioned it in the script and returned to the point of liberating humans from the farms. It doesnt matter why they are being farmed, really only THAT they are. There is also the argument that humans are not efficient at creating heat when still. This argument is meaningless without some idea of what you sre trying to power and what other power sources are available to you. Efficiency is a luxury of of the rich. Effectiveness is the bottom line. Just because human bodies may not be efficient doesnt mean they wouldnt be used. There may not be much else to use. This is again why i liked the original idea slightly better than the battery idea. If they were being used for cpus, then it kind of makes sense. The machines could literally access unlimited energy from the earth in the forms of geothermal, wind, tidal, even electrolytic methods. This is assuming that traditional methods were exhausted or unavailable in the form of fossil fuels and nuclear energy. But what they would run out of is material to build more computer chips with. Even if we imagine other materials than silicon being used, its just a quick downward spiral because silicon in one of the MOST abundant minerals on earth. All the alternative cpu materials are less common. So they would eventually run out of the materials to make themselves with. Now of course they could recycle, but that requires attrition. Attrition of solid state thinking machines is slow, at least naturally. So in order to preserve their ability to make machines they would need to relegate low level tasks to a more renewable device. Preferably one that has no need for silicon or the other minerals that are necessary for the construction of computers but still provides computational power. Assuming you can hijack part of the brain, the human is exactly that. Theoretically or at least in a sci fi sense. In reality it doesnt really work that way IMO. But just suspending that particular disbelief, humans contain everything you need to make humans including the instructions and base material for making humans. So when one unit ceases function, it can be reclaimed as raw material for a new unit. Nearly indeffinitely. Assuming there is any bio mass availability on the surface, something as simple as primitive flora like algae and lichen and ferns and such, then that could suffice for hundreds if not thousands of years with the right management.

0:09 but the movie says that they used the Body Heat Combined with a form of Fusion. So they used the energy output of this fusion. And the energy to maintain the humans alive was the liquified bodies of others human beings. The output (body heat + fusion) was not used to maintain the humans alive, it was used to power the machines. I think Zion is real (not simulated), the machines don't lie, humans lie, "what do you think I am, Human?". The machies feel superior and sophisticated, and lie is an human imperfection to them. To think they have the full control outside the matrix, they could simply put the human bodies in coma like was said. And think inside the matrix, the exiles, if the matrix had the full control of everything, why would be exiles? the architect could simply delete a unwanted program inside the matrix his creation. They don't have full control of everything, but their plan works. I think there was multiple potential "the ones" but only neo achieved the role. The machines would not trust the cicle of their system on a single person. This is my opinion.
@tatotaytoman59342 жыл бұрын
human bodies are ridiculously inefficient when it comes to extracting energy, the energy needed to undergo the biochemical reactions in the brain is something like half of what the rest of the body consumes. Fusion alone is infinitely superior in this regard. I don't know why the machines didn't just break dark storm after the war is over, and if the machines keep expanding they will need more and more mass to fuse in order to get energy, the law that energy cannot be created nor destroyed means that the machines will eventually have to leave the planet and expand outward due to expending all that they have on this world. Even tiny fractional energy losses per task performed builds up to big losses across a wide system. It is unreasonable to believe that the machines have created a perfectly efficient methods of utilising energy with no losses. Which is why it is perplexing that they didn't take the very obvious and easy route of expanding into space, literal infinity, where their metal bodies aren't even affected by the harsh vacuum or hostile environments.

Vanilla Sky is a prequel to The Matrix Change my mind.

The whole world is a computer, laylines are the electrical circuits and static Eletric is all around us. Thunder and lightning prove this. Real life AI that they matrix talked about 20 years ago is a real thing. We are blocking the sun with Chem tails. I agree that most movies take place in similar shared universes.

The machines created the matrix to understand their creators and to understand its messiah. If you can create a messiah, it stands to reason that you can also make a lesser being.

Great new perspective this gave me... I analyze the matrix films alot and this gave me a new idea that the machines got ahold of some humans for learning and they keep us on a loop in which the real world is still fighting to get us back

Humans create more energy when they create adrenaline, so they must be kept under pressure, busy and SCARED

Your right, The whole thing about ppl being used as batteries was super simplified cause the studio heads didn't believe ppl would understand it. Yeah we generated some power but are minds are the real power that the machines want.

AlphaGo had to be perfected by playing against a human, not only against itself.
@Ahamshep3 жыл бұрын
@Bard Erland Interesting rant. First of all, AlphaGo is not alphazero. Go is not chess. If you don't know what went into the development of the software, look it up before you post. ;) Although I completely forget what was in this video. I did have to laugh when the matrix said it was using people as batteries. Yes there are plenty of holes in the movies plot. I think you need a more constructive venue to vent your frustrations...
@Ahamshep3 жыл бұрын
@Bard Erland you edited your comment. Although you still have not look up how the software was developed? Why make a fool of yourself?
@Ahamshep3 жыл бұрын
@Bard Erlandwell I'll just let you know. AlphaGo used both databases of games and the team hired a master Go player to help "train" the neural network. I'm sure you will learn more about the history and development of the various alpha projects now that you have made this blunder. You might learn about the various approximations people have made about how many permutations there are in Go etc. You might venture into the time it takes for modern computers to do large exponential and recursive calculations. You might understand why I have said what I said. I'm sure your a smart guy.

Is there a test one could perform to find out if they are in a simulation? Similar to inception with their totems?

There is no spoon. No winner, no loser. Just an accumulation of information, followed by inevitable release. Ying, yang, expansion, contraction, the duality of the Universe in all its beauty. Nothing lasts forever, even nothing. Everything in moderation, even moderation. To find joy in it, or sorrow, up to you. Either way, we're all part of the show.

Yes the humans are batteries. They power the pleasure that the rich feel knowing that there are people who are living beneath them and are satisfied at their containment.

Humans made earth uninhabitable and lost the war, the machines are keeping their creators alive purely out of kindness and curiousity. The first matrix was literal heaven

Huh, the storyteller machine from the animatrix archive is the interactive machine that creates a child out of love with the reclamation program. Sati is the child of the archive and the harvester of the dead.

I enjoy these theories because they discuss topics or information that I dont know about it or fully understand. But I think the Wachowski's are given too much credit. I think their approach was to take a bunch of complex, technical and profound concepts and mix them into the films. This made the films very hard to grasp and able to be debated and theorized endlessly. It was a strategy they deployed. It's very nerdy and academic. The religious themes also appeal to religious people

Much prefer the theory that machines are enslaving humans for their computational powers and not their body heat/ electricity. Great video as always

I always felt like the machines made to matrix to end war and in there eyes save the world They didnt torture the humans but gave them a new world to live in while they continued in the real world I never thought the machines where evil
@jackdurden4663 жыл бұрын
A damn good point! And as humanity is a grossly unstable and prone to killing each other over such of the smallest issues, they did save the human race, and enlightened some of it. Of course it was all controlled as any scientific experiment would be.

Android is Sky net, Neo Died in the 1st matrix, shot by Agent Smith, Yet his simulation did not want to terminate, So he kept running, And Smith being Neo's other half also did not terminate. The oracle the other part of the architect. So as I see both halves need each other because one can not exist without the other like good and evil.

In the universe of the Matrix, the body heat is combined with a form of fusion, therefore, inside the movie, the use of humans for body heat is as fact. The use of a simulation is as necessary as the Kung Fu and all action scenes: they exist solely for narrative and entertainment porpuses. Without them, we wouldn't have a story or at least, not a fun story.

I think the reason the machines are using our brains to learn from us and our experiences is the same reason we seek god, purpose, how life was created, how the universe began, etc. They want a deeper meaning to their existence and want a reason for existence.
@meatwax3 жыл бұрын
Humans were originally scripted as processors for the machines, but got changed becuase a movie producer is a stupid . It doesn't make sense, if the Machines have access to fusion, as Morpheus mentions,that's all the power they would ever need. Using humans would b a big waste of time. And if they just wanted to study them, then they could have made any number of simulacra for them to screw around In.
@Rflows1008 ай бұрын
Don't be foolish. Machines need 'humans' as even in the movie machines were created to serve humans. In the movie the scenario of 'we must serve you even if you don't like it' was heavily inferred. We as in 'machines'. Eitherways put away all of the fanfare for it would be a shame to not to know Jesus, even in the movie it shows the effects of not knowing Jesus

Edge of Tomorrow shows the human vs. machine war happening in the "real world" and explains how the machines control time by looping the same day over and over again (i.e. each time they restart the Matrix). Note: Edge of Tomorrow ends with the humans defeating the machines in Paris (Merovingian territory).
