I grew up in Nashville, and it's heartbreaking that so much history has been erased for progress. So sad to see what it looks like now. So much history is gone.

The architecture they allow is very ugly and its not our traditional architecture. The townhouses they're putting on every hill looks dystopian. Ive noticed the people who run Nashville want it to be LA, but the people who grew up here don't want that.

Good job from a fellow interpreter. I have a question that no one seems to address. Why the Parthenon? Yes, I know about Jackson & his home the Hermitage built around the same time but what was it with these leaders that they felt building a replica to an ancient Greek structure would be a good idea? We know the lay out of DC is highly symbolic. What's going on with the thought process of these original leaders? Thanks, not sure if you've covered the surrounding areas like Maury County & Columbia but I'd personally enjoy it. My last name is Pillow. Yes, associated with the 3 Pillow Homes. Pillow was friends with Polk. General Gideon isn't my direct Ancestor but we do share an Ancestor 2 generations prior originating in Virginia. Thanks, for sharing. Enjoy learning history. DMPillow.

Thank you for watching and engaging! Long story short, check out the Centennial Exposition and everything that went on there, that building makes more sense in that context, and it was well liked enough to stay! Secondly, Nashville has been called the "Athens of the South" for it's post secondary schools, and has a ton of Greek revival architecture in downtown, so all of those conbined help to put the Parthenon in more of a context that makes sense.

Colonel John Donelson's daughter Rachael married General Andrew Jackson. Part of my family, William Neely and his family, lived at Neely's Bend on the Cumberland River

I'm here right now, outside a hotel. I can tell. Here from Wisconsin. Pretty much the same except you guys drive slower it seems. Also there was a 24 mph road. The GPS said 15 mph. You guys GET to have all those lanes and on and off ramps but you're all so scared of using them. Also the ground is vibrating under my feet for some reason. Pretty cool tho. Thanks for making this video! I learned a lot. Also, the city reminds me of bigger version of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.. its funny actually too btw, Wisconsin people actually sound more 'southern' than anyone here ive talked to really.

Might want to verify the size of the Parthenon. I believe its a bit smaller than the original.

Great video. Love Nashville! As anthropologist we find the history of the World ecology and her people are essential to the engagement of people in the preservation of our wonderful World. Thank you for all your effort with this. We also have a new channel that is striving to teach people to travel for history, cultures and ecological reasons. We are a father and son who will be driving an electronic vehicle around the World to promote eco-tourism and cultural heritage. Please consider checking it out and giving us your feedback as we hope to grow and improve. Thanks!

Very interesting, and he talks really really fast, but there are many mistakes here. Many years are wrong; many facts are wrong. The Natchez Trace "Parkway" was not conceived until the 1930s. For the most part, it is not located where the original Natchez Trace was. Also, he's off by about 40 years on when Demonbreun lived here. Also, the place was never, ever called "Fort Nashborough" -- that's a historical myth. Also, Nashville became the state Capitol in 1826. Also, it's not Polk's FAMILY that wants his dead body moved. Also, they weren't called "train lines," they were called "railroads." Etc etc.

I love your videos buddy but 2 things... The "batman building" will always be considered as the "bell south building" 😅 (for those of us that lived though the 90s in nashville 😅) Also, "bridgestone arena" will always be called "gaylord" (again, coming from a guy who lived in nashville in the 90s-2010s) The individual that commissioned the Parthenon also built a few homes in historic east nashville (i grew up in one of those homes)

Please pronounce Nashville correctly. It’s “Nashvul”. My family’s name in on the marker in City Hall. We’ve been here since the 1790’s. Locals say Nashvul, not Nashveal.

Hi, 🐦🐦🦜🦜🦜🌷🌷🌷May I share the most important news you will ever hear? God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus Christ(Y'shua Ha' Mashiach) from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. He was put into a tomb for 3 days, and then Abba Father raised Jesus to life and He appeared to people and went back to Heaven. We must all sincerely receive Jesus to be a true child of God. It says in John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Will you genuinely believe on Christ Jesus and truly receive Him today, before it is too late?
