I'm from México and want to share this with Huskers fans: I have been a Cornhusker fan since the heartbreaking loss in1984, at that moment when Nebaska failed the 2-point conversion I became a lifetime Husker fan, simply because Osborne believed in his own way to play, it took until Janury 1995 to see them winning but it really was woth the time. Hope to see the Huskers winning again (sooner or later), meanwhile I will enjoy Nebraska football no matter what ... Cheers !

I'm from Michigan but I feel a close kinship to Nebraska football. Most people simply don't realize how great they were. In particular the last five seasons of Tom Osbornes career. Total devastation. The 1995 Nebraska team is the greatest team college football has ever seen. Open and shut case. A record of 60-3 over five years will never be seen again. It all started with the man from Saginaw, Michigan, the great Bob Devaney. The Devaney and Osborne collaboration is the greatest in college football history. Unlike all the other great coaches before him, Devaney had his successor picked years in advance. Groomed and ready to fill in seamlessly. Devaney referred to Osborne as "The best hire I ever made." You think?! Osborne was the best hire anyone ever made. Sadly, this legendary program hasn't been the same since his departure.

Beyond the "Five Genuine" Not "Mythical National Championships" is a Legacy of Unrivaled Excellence in Collegiate Football History. Every College Superpower has had a down period in their history. Before Tom Osbornes retirement in 1997, Nebraskas record under Bob Devaney and Osborne was 356-69-7!! That is 36 years of UNAPPROACHED EXCELLENCE. No other program over such an extended period comes close. EVER!! After arriving in Lincoln in 1962, Bob Devaney tapped into the innate hunger of the Nebraska fan base. Galvanizing an entire state behind him. The loyalty to "The Big Red" was so unique that a homegrown Nebraska kid leaving for another program was tantamount to treason!! Devaney spun a magic with in state kids so powerful they would rather "Walk On" at Nebraska than go elsewhere. Devaney recruited brilliantly over areas of the country as well. Particularly, his home region of Michigan and the Midwest. His 1971 Nebraska team was beyond question College Footballs best team to that time. Perhaps ever. Unlike every other great coach in the country, Devaney ensured the programs continued excellence with his grooming of Tom Osborne as his successor. Knowing that Osborne was the perfect choice, Devaney never wavered when Doctor Tom struggled early against Oklahoma. Or his extended struggle in Bowl games, before the explosion over his final five seasons. The final tally of 60-3 and three National Championships from 93-97 will never be seen again. COMPETENCE, COMMITMENT AND UNWAVERING BELIEF. That is why Nebraska became the greatest dynasty college football will ever know. And the key to them gaining a semblance of that unequaled status again.

I literally had a tear in my eye watching this. It makes me proud to be a Husker fan. The best moment, IMO, is after Johnny Rodger's run at 1:52. Watch the Nebraska band member coming in from the left heading right. He's got a drum on. He's so filled with emotion that he just starts jumping all over the place and the drum is flopping around, the strap comes loose and it looks like it is going to fall. He's so happy that he doesn't even care his drum is getting trashed. That's what it's about!

Lol I've seen Rudy countless times. Love the storyline and all that the movie portrays. I agree with you on respecting Notre Dame built up college football to where it is I have no agrument on that. See Nebraska is unique in the sense that we get amazing recruits into the heart of the midwest and have 83,000 + fans every game. Why not make it unique in our own way in every aspect. That song is not repersenting college football as a whole. If you heard the song you'd say oh yea! Rudy
