Pewdiepie didn’t actually necessarily start the “adpocalypse” the main cause of it was KZbin placing ads onto videos by Isis and other terrorist groups which lead to Coca Cola no longer advertising on KZbin and then other companies pulled out from advertising on KZbin as well. (Please correct me if I am wrong I am saying this off memory)

What I like about PewDiePie or Felix for that matter is that he can upload whatever he likes, some days he prefers to upload games, then other days some meme reviews or songs, compilations, Livestreams... Whatever he likes. He's really genuine, so much so that even at my 20th birthday I can say he's a really nice guy and a funny one too

2:44 he also was in Europe which was proven to give a recommended video advantage at least back then according to the youtube algorithm. It's partly why there's such a disproportionate amount of British and other english speaking european channels having massive subcounts. Though tbf having an accent inherently adds some novelty to your videos that americans (like myself) appreciate which in itself gives an advantage.
