Oban is one of my favourites and Tobermory just across the water on Mull.

First of all: thanks for all the great work, I'm sure it was excruciating to cut only 8 minutes :) You're one of my favorite content creator when it comes to whiskey! My favorite 5 Distillerys: Edradour, Glen Scotia, Laphroaig, Bunnahabhain, Tamdhu. P.S. Ardmore is not Islay - even if they have peated whiskeys and even sometimes uses Islay barrels!

Favorite distillery is impossible. I love what Ardnamurchan are doing. GlenAllachie also have some really interesting both core and special releases, and as you said… Bruichladdich. Just opened a Port Charlotte SYC: 01 2013 that I’m really enjoying. If I have to pick a favorite distillery, it must be Ardnamurchan. Not only for their amazing whisky, but for how they operate, how transparent they are, and how they contribute to their local community 😊 Have a great weekend 🥃

Great info!! I’ve been interested in trying some scotch’s but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Cheers

What do you currently drink There are lots of entry level offerings that are very affordable and approachable
@robertshay923513 күн бұрын
@ I drink American whiskeys, bourbon and ryes. I have dabbled in Irish whiskey and rum as well. I have not enjoyed the few American single malts I have tried. Cheers

@@robertshay9235 definitely start with lowlands. As Bill said most are triple distilled and can be similar to Irish whiskey

3:33 Edinbra, not Edinburrow. Hey, you asked for it 😁. Talking about favorite distillery, I’m sipping now on a Sprinkbank 15, so.

100% of realized I was saying it wrong when I was editing it. Thanks! Springbank 15 sounds fantastic

Thanks for the info! Speyside is my favorite region (Balvenie and Glenfiddich are my top distilleries) but really starting to enjoy Islay scotches. Bought the Bowmore 15 and Lagavulin 11 Offerman edition for myself for Christmas last year and both were excellent.

I love this type of information. Glenmorangie is my favorite even though I’m a bourbon enthusiast. Cheers 🥃

Another great video Bill, I’m sooo happy you haven’t forgotten about Scotch, I was starting to get worried there. 🤪 Favorite distillery of mine is a tough one, the 2 distilleries that I would’ve chosen have changed and are no longer the same imo (Talisker & Lagavulin). That being said, not a distillery but I would have to choose Compass Box for a favorite producer/bottler.

Never! Scotch is the best

Thanks Bill! I totally agree with you! My favorite distillery is Bruichladdich because of their variety of products, ranging from unpeated to heavily peated and even super heavily peated in their core range. Also, you forgot to mention Ardnahoe Distillery on Islay-they have already released four expressions, including their Inaugural Release 🥃
@TheWhiskeyDictionary12 күн бұрын
Ahhh! No! I totally did 😞 I even looked at the SWA website for the distillery list and it's so close to Bunnahabhain I think i just missed it. Thanks for the call out! 😀

Big fan of Ardmore - their 12yo port wood is just a bang-for-your-buck BEAST and a lot of IBs are awesome as well. Also: Highland Park - not really the core range, but IBs are mostly incredible. I have a 17yo HP single cask which is basically drinkable earthy, smoky dark berry chocolate jam... you cant not like that. Nobody can.

Ill go with 3 Distilleries: Ardbeg, Tomatin & Wolfburn- in that order. Cheers Bill 🔥 🥃 🐺 🥃

I can't believe that I forgot Bunnahabhain: shame on me 😲 Ok: Top 5 Scotch Distilleries are: Ardbeg, Bunnahabhain Tomatin, Ledaig, Wolfburn.

@TheWhiskeyDictionary Hahaha 😆 Ardbeg Ardbeg 5 Wee Beastie in my biased - & mostly unexperienced - opinion is one of THEE best Peated Scotches for its amazing quality & price point. I've had 2-3 bottles of Ardbeg 10, which are obviously stellar in it's own right ✅️ Just opened my second Wee Beastie in November & I much prefer the 5 Year over the 10 Year... BUT the truth is I need another bottle of the 10, so I can do a side-by-side 😉 🤪 🐺

Glenmorangie was my true introduction to Scotch, and I like the range of their whiskys, from the Private Edition releases, the Tale of and core range.

I don't blame you on the pronunciation lol. I've heard 3 "official" ways to say Bunnahabhain "Stiuireadair" and have no idea what's right. Cheers!

That's easy! Bunnahabhain Streudal. Done

Great video. Very indepth. My only issue is the region isn't on the bottle so it can gamble. I don't want to risk getting something from Islay.

Any updates on old distilleries that are reopening?
@andrewbutler768113 күн бұрын
I've got bottles from 141 of the Scotch malt distilleries (and some grains as well), so picking a favourite is difficult. I have been a registered Friend of Laphroaig since 1996 (and regularly buying their whisky even longer), so I suppose that is the best candidate, but I'm also partial to Clynelish, Wolfburn, Aberfeldy... there are very few I don't like so much! With the pronunciation: I think I heard you put the stress on the wrong syllable for Arran - should be ARRən, not arrAN - and Ailsa Bay is more like ALE-SA (the 's' is NOT silent).

No favorite distillery yet as I’m still exploring the world of scotch. Lately though I’ve started loving the peat x sherry/wine cask combo. Ardbeg Uigedail, laphroaig PX finish, Ledaig Sinclair Rioja cask are the current favourites.

As a dumb farmer I am afraid I know little about whiskies, I just know what I like. And I like them heavily peated, and best of all if that peat is mixed in a good way with the sweetness of cherry. I like the Laphroaig Quarter Cask as it was my first love of peated whisky, I like some Ardbegs (I am dull enough to love the Uigeadail and even the Wee Beastie) and I love the Port Charlotte. As a famer I fear I don't have the money to buy the Octomore here in Norway, I will rather have two or three other good bottles. But if I am to pick one destillery I think it will have to be the Kilchoman. As a farmer I love the story of the farm distillery, they have some amazing whiskies, like the Batch Strength, and I even have the (sadly not possible to get here in Norway anymore) Kilchoman Bramble Liqueur as a guilty pleasure.
@TheWhiskeyDictionary11 күн бұрын
Sounds like our tastes line up pretty well together! Octomore is great but it drinks pretty slow as its a lot. You're missing out, but not considerably, especially if you can get Port Charlotte. Uigeadail is great, Corryvreckan is better but Wee Beastie is fantastic for the price. Hope you enjoyed the video, cheers!

Im sorry you feel that way. I'll pull the curtain back a bit. This video took me almost 15 hours from start to finish. For 8 minutes. The raw footage was 48 minutes long. All that said, I'd happily do more if I knew people would watch it. If presented with a 20 minute long video about scotch whisky regions, I don't believe many people would click. It's just reality. I agree that I'd prefer to put more detail in, but if I do I'll lose the audience... it's just not that interesting of a subject to spend a half hour on. The 3 minute videos I've been doing have been doing really well, and it's indicative of people wanting bits of info then to move on. I don't like it anymore than you do 😞 Regardless, i appreciate that you watched and will try to spend a little more time in the future thinking about what areas may need further elaboration. I have a lot of info style videos coming out over the next couple of months so I could certainly change things up.
