I live in Minneapolis and this video came as a huge surprise to me. I’ve only flown this airline once, and it was back in 2009. It truly is a neat little airline. I appreciate you making this video.

Even more interesting is how they're evolving into a ULCC within the US. I'm starting to see more Sun Country flights into and out of DFW Airport, especially to Cancun. Definitely an interesting airline to say the least.

This video helped answer a question that was burning my mind for months: One day I saw a 737 with the Transavia livery landing at MIA, and I was confused as Transavia is a Dutch low-cost carrier that doesn't fly into the US. Thanks to this video, I now know that it was a 737 leased to Sun Country (which does fly into MIA) but still with the Transavia livery. Thanks very much Mr. DJ!

@20somthingdrifter112 жыл бұрын
New livery is so goddy, I like the old livery, and by that I mean the blue livery, because I remember as a kid fly on the 727's and MD-10's with the really old white livery that just said sun country. I also think they should go back to naming there planes after MN lakes, that was a nice touch that gave the airline a bit more personality that other budget carriers.

Used to fly Sun Country whenever I wanted to go to Minneapolis from Florida. Apart from their using the less desirable terminal at MSP, I never had any complaints. Sort of limited usefulness if one doesn’t live near Minneapolis.
@andysorensen17375 жыл бұрын
The Humphrey Terminal has really stepped up their game in recent years; the eventual plan is for all non-Sky Team carriers to move over there but we’ll see when/if that happens.

I'm not a fan the new tidepod liverly, I think the old livery and the iterum liverly were far better, more classy. I also wish they had continued the practice of naming their aircraft after lakes, it was a nice little touch that gave the airline some personality.

I fly Sun Country from LAX to MSP regularly. I prefer this airline over the others as it's always a nonstop and uses the Humphrey terminal. Love it! The Humphrey terminal is much less crowded and I can get in and out of the airport much faster. In the past, I've booked economy and then get to the airport early. Sometimes there may be some first class seats for around 100 dollars more. I always get one if available. Nice little perk

As another person pointed out earlier, the real change for Sun Country came a couple years ago when they moved from a semi-low cost airline with fantastic service, to a true low-cost carrier. That move pushed them most of the way off my list, but when they stranded a flight of people in Mexico a year and a half ago, they were added to my "no-way, no-how" list. There was a snowstorm that shut down the Minneapolis/St Paul airport for a weekend, and it was the last weekend of the year for their scheduled service to/from Mexico. Their plane wasn't able to get out, so they cancelled the flight and left people on vacation stuck in another country entirely. Until the ownership changes, and they completely do away with their current plans, you'd have to hold a gun to my head to get me to fly Sun Country any more. It's a shame, too, because in the past, they provided a reasonable alternative to Delta out of MSP that I generally took whenever it worked out.

Sun country has started to get a bad rep from many Minnesotans lately. After the company got their new CEO there were many changes and events such as leaving passengers stranded in other airports and many occasions where they have left the whole plane of luggage behind. There are many Minnesotans choosing other airlines now, and they have lost their respect for the hometown airline.
