As a BMC Teammachine fanboy (I've purchased and owned three since 2013), this was one of my most cherished opportunities when I was over in Switzerland at BMC's Head Office. Thanks again to BMC for the opportunity and Stefan Christ for his time.

OUTSTANDING Cam !!!! You harvested so much from that trip. Stephan along with several other guests were fantastic. Watching the series can cause a person to run out and buy a BMC😉

BMC design and functional aspect of the bikes are awesome. smooth, clean, and functional all around equals to pleasure of ownership. also that large BMC logo on the side says, I live and love my bike 🙂

Bravo 👏 Thank you Cam for bringing us this breakdown on the generational design history of the legendary Teammachine. I've looked high and low for something like this and no one else has done it. Let alone from the lead BMC engineer! The explanation of the cross lock design element @ 3:50 answered my lingering curiosity about it. I am the proud owner of a 2nd gen red '16 SLR01 Ultegra di2 in rim brake with ENVE 6.7/ChrisKing wheels. 😍 Love it for its light weight, compliance, handling, speed, efficiency and unique design cues. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK, CAM!

Have the first and latest Teammachine SLR01. They are both excellent bikes 10 model years apart :)

nice to see this history - couldn't afford a team machine but had the racemaster SLX01 in 2012 (?) with the dropped seatstays, aluminium / carbon mix. Then got a Teammachine SLR02 in 2016...the latter still feels great, couldnt find the right bike in 2021 so went with A Spesh Aethos, but would jump back to BMC at the next opportunity

So this is the dude that all old school no integration dudes absolutely hate… same dudes usually also hate disc brakes too. Personally this guy is my hero… I salute him and his team for taking the risk and pushing the progress forward.

Fantastic video Cam can’t beat a bit of history especially in BMC bikes!! Cam can you help me I got a 2018 Team machine like yours in the orange in Di, do you know if I can internally route the cable’s with the correct stem and handle bar combo??? It’s wreck my head seeing them hanging out the left hand side of the head tube 🤯😭

I’ve ridden a Teammachine SLR01 ‘18 for almost 2 years. Nothing wrong with bike (looked very nice) But I have to say; it didn’t fail anywhere but didn’t shine anywhere either imo. Nice vid 👌

Teammachine is a tool to optimize race performance; to help you navigate a stage race safely and with minimal time loss and loss of energy. This can result in not the most spritely handling or feeling bike.

It would be a sad day if/when BMC move away from that tree trunk diameter down tube. It's been a hallmark of the TM frames for over a decade now, and makes spotting one on the road very easy, even without the brand graphic. Great upload Cam, and interesting to learn just how much BMC innovation has influenced bike design over recent years 👌
@jochem19862 жыл бұрын
The current Teammachine SLR01 already has a slightly narrower downtube at the BB than the previous generation: it's slightly slimmer on the non-drive side. The reason for this is that symmetry was needed to optimize airflow around the bottles, and to keep the Aero Core bottle cages symmetrical as well.

Those dropped seatstays looked so strange on the Teammachine when they first appeared. Now it looks odd to see a bike in the pro peleton that doesn't have them

They were actually the thing that caught my eye and made BMC stand out for me. The boxy, industrial design in the naked carbon was so futuristic at the time and the fact that they haven't devieated that much from it in over 10 years speaks volumes of how good a design it was
