I grew up a Rangers fan on Long Island. I escaped NY to NC in 1996. One year before the Hurricanes moved to NC. I have seen hockey grow leaps and bounds in this area. I coach power skating and i coached youth hockey for a while as well as learn to play and hockey is for everyone. I was also and remain a part of HMI camps. (Hockey Ministries International) Watching the sport grow here has been amazing. I admit I am now a Hurricanes fan 100%. This is no longer a small market. You have to remember this area is a hot bed for relocated Northenerns. Not just from the US. Canadians are moving here like crazy. So you have tons of hockey fans already here. The youth hockey is amazing! Some coaches are former NHL player. Not only former Hurricanes but others who have also moved to NC. Parents from up north are moving to NC so their kids can play youth hockey here. GO CANES!!!

Very nice! Like you, I am a transplanted New Yorker (Rochester). Grew up a Flyers fan (I know, geographically shoulda been a Sabres fan). Moved to Raleigh summer '00. Got a part time job at PNC Arena in '05 and have been working there ever since. Have played in men's beer leagues for 20 years. Years ago I played on a team with a bunch of Canadian dudes that worked for RBC Centura and got transferred to NC. Great bunch of guys. Even played with a couple of former NHLers including former Hurricane Steven Rice (super good dude, run into him from time to time when he comes to games and always catch up a little). Hockey has exploded in this area. As someone who grew up with the sport, I absolutely love it! Hopefully Dundon will continue to be willing to spend the money to keep this team competitive for years to come.

I started following hockey in the bubble playoffs with the Canucks eventually becoming the team I followed, but I ended up loving hockey so much that I wanted an Eastern team to follow. After some deliberation I chose the Hurricanes due to how much I liked Andrei Svechnikov and eventually almost every single player on the team, as well as how I found the franchises history as a whole fascinating. Now they’re pretty much neck and neck with the Canucks as my favorite team. I think this current group is super special and can be for a long time and I hope they can prove that soon with a Cup win.

@@Cheetohandz simple logic. - Blues gave Avs a run even without Binnington - that means they could win the series WITH Binnington - Blues have never beaten the Canucks in playoffs - that means, the Canucks are the better team - so Canucks beating Avs is NOT beyond the limits of reality + we have some new and young guys, who can step up their play - In the Second Round the Canucks might face the Blues again and you know how it usually ends up - If Canucks drove the powerhouse Vegas to a Game 7, imagine what can they do to defenseless Edmonton in the Conference Finals

@@xlr0gd205Great points all around the couple times the Canucks played the Avs last season they went toe to toe with them each time, I even remember in March some Avs fans were saying they didn’t wanna face the Canucks in the first round, and with a full season with Bruce at the helm they’ll be even better this year. Not to mention they’re not too far off from almost making the conference finals with a worse roster than they currently have now, so here’s to a deep run this year 🏆 Let’s just hope if the canes and Canucks meet at the end that I have a better experience than Shannon had with watching his two favorites battling for the Cup

U.K fan, I started following Hockey in 01 playing the Avs on NHL HITZ on the Gamecube, I followed my team for 5 years knowing nothing about them, not even that we won the cup in 01 and we beat the team my brother played as too (Eery we picked opposing forces in a year where we didn't see a single game lol). My first year being able to watch hockey was the year the Canes won, I saw the Sabres series in full and was stunned by how good it was then I watched the full Oilers series including that huge comeback win. Always had a soft spot for the Canes since they were the first team I'd seen win the cup and I'd kill for an Avs VS Canes final this season.

Aho has got to be one of the best drafts. He was drafted in the second round of the loaded 2015 draft. He is third in points from that draft. He is second in goals from that draft behind McDavid. He is probably the best ALL-Round player from that draft. Look at his numbers when going head to head with McDavid. In games Vs Edmonton Aho has outscored McDavid and has been part of shutting him down. He plays 5v5 PP and PK. The others in that draft that he is often rated below are McDavid, Marner, and Eichel. Aho's playoff numbers are better then most of them. His +/- Is with or better then those. Aho is the most UNDERRATED player in the league.

LFG, Love the Canes vids, Been a cans fan since around the beginning of the 05-06 season. I was young but I watched and fell in love with the game, I have to thank eric staal for it. Have been a fan since and been too 100s of game at pnc and there is not atmosphere like it, if Shannon you wanna see a game in NC.,I think you it would be your favorite atmosphere that wasn't VAN. I am just so proud to be a canes fans, coming from the rumors that we was going to be moved to now having one of the best attendance in the league last year and this recent success. I think Pytor will break cam's record one day and HOT take but if the Bubble didn't happen I think the canes win the cup or at least make it in 2020.

Shannon, I have some content ideas for you. I would really like to see a video about the Cleveland Barons 2 years of greatness. They've become a meme with younger hockey fans lately, I think it would do numbers. I would also like to see a video about the history of the Stanley Cup. Like the actual Cup. Like what it's made of, who designed it, the different cups over the years, the times it's been dented. That would be a cool video. I know you're a busy man, but if you could add these to the idea list I would be grateful. Thanks my man

Biased, as I live in NC. I think 2022 was one of our best shots at another cup. Anderson was on fire until he got hurt, and Raanta unfortunately was nursing an inevitable injury all through the playoffs. Both stellar goalies. Just hope they can keep healthy with the '23 season. Brent Burns is a phenomenal pickup, and I hope that can make the difference this next go-around. Its a shame we lost TDA and Trocheck. They will be missed in '23. Also hoping for Pyotr Kochetkov to get his time to shine, whether it be for us, or another team. He proved he has big league potential, and hes still fresh off the stork.

I always find it odd to include the whalers in the canes stat history. I understand the history and obviously they wear the jersey ever so often but, telling the “history of the Carolina hurricanes” is a lot different when you add in whalers. When you look at the goaltending numbers of just hurricanes goalies you can see why they struggled for a long time. Also the all time leaders list would look a little different. Hopefully as they enter their 25th year of existence and continue to develop talent, the whalers additions to these lists get shelved.
