Eastland Center, formerly Westfield Eastland/Eastland Shopping Center, is a shopping center in West Covina, California, currently managed by Pine Tree, LLC.[1]
Westfield America, Inc., a precursor to Westfield Group, acquired the shopping center in 1998 and renamed it "Westfield Shoppingtown Eastland", dropping the "Shoppingtown" name in June 2005.
Once a fashionable department store-anchored regional shopping mall, in 1997 it was converted to a power center as the nearby Plaza at West Covina became the dominant area center. It was once anchored by a five-story May Company department store, where the Target now stands. Uniquely, the power center is two levels, with parking for the lower level on the south side of the center and parking for the upper level on the north side. Corridors connect both the upper and lower levels.

I was two years old when the Eastland shopping center opened in 1957. One of my fondest memories was going to this shopping center with my parents and grandparents and walking by a place called Mission pack that made special gift packs for the holidays the shopping center was open air, and it was decorated so pretty, and it brings back some of the most wonderful memories of my life in Covina.❤❤❤

I worked at the Otis Spunkmeyer cookie place in 1984 there. Two of my older sisters both worked at Coopers Jewelry, directly adjacent to the May Co. Sees candy right near by. Loved The Red Eye, Judys, Leeds Shoes, Millers Outpost, Changing Times and Mervyns. I miss the 80s!

My old day is growing up as a kid still living in Covina, about a mile down the street from Eastland. Seen a lot of changes of my life watching this video just brings back a lot of good memories how it used to be how safe the streets used to be everything was so clean, yeah just a beautiful city to live in. I’m now 71 years old.

Same age, buddy. Lived in Covina as a kid and young adult, the Eastland Shopping Center was a main focal point growing up. Washed dishes in Woolworth's in '70, helped with internal remodeling of May Co. in '76, did a few night inventories for spare cash mid-70's. Now it's all gone. My parents bought furniture at Beals, I bought toy dinosaurs at Grant. Ate at Clifton's, brother worked there one summer. He didn't mention Wallich's, another frequent go-to. Last saw it in '97, that ugly yellow Target where the once proud May Co. stood.

We would always buy cookies after school while he was there and then go grocery shopping at LUCKYS! I miss old Covina so much it was amazing to grow up here!

I ran into Screech at Brea Mall back in the early 90’s. He got upset we called him Screech, and corrected us by saying “it’s actually Dustin!” 😂

PJ Pizzazz! I thought I was imagining that there was one because I remember going to it-had totally forgotten it even existed or where it was. Thanks for clearing out the cobwebs. I sure miss May Co, the indoor mall, and other places(Montgomery Wards)that used to be there-mainly because of people who are no longer here that spark my memory of those days.

It’s August 2024 and the Walmart is now gone. Eastland Center seems to be doing pretty well and adjusts to changing market trends successfully. Must be good management in spite of difficult times.

Back in '89 or '90 I took my daughter to Eastland to watch the filming of a Christmas episode of The Wonder Years. I'm not 100% sure but I think at that time, the mall was enclosed. I took some pics of the holiday set-up with Santa, his elves and " Kevin" ( Fred Savage) and other actors and stand-ins. We watched that episode on TV a few months later and , of course we recognized Eastland in many of the scenes. By the way, I used to work at PJ Pizazz when it first opened in early summer of '79. I worked at the desert bar and also I was just over 21 so they had me serving the beer and wine there, also. I think the main reason it wasn't there for very long was due to the competition with ChuckECheeses popping up everywhere during the early 80's.

I remember watching the wrecking ball smash into the building to start the target building. I remember there was a play place club Disney that turned into circuit city. I remember Montgomery Ward was across the street before ikea that was where I bought my Dreamcast

I wonder if there is any footage of the demolition-at the time I was very busy with family issues and it seemed it was there one day, then Target the next. I miss Circuit City amd Montgomery Wards-such better stores than some we currently have.
