Totally agree. These people who swear they were “born in the wrong generation” have no interest in history and make absolutely zero effort to educate themselves on the hardships and civil unrest of their predecessors. The 50s wasn’t solely about glam cat eyes and a-line skirts and the fact that ppl are so obsessed with aestheticising everything into polished looks means forgetting sociohistorical context.
@StrangeScaryNewEngland

@@zoe6353 I see no reason why in this modern age we can't bring back the GOOD parts of decades like the 50's for *EVERYONE* to enjoy. One thing is wanting to live your life a certain way and another is forcing your lifestyle onto others. Not "letting" your partner have internet or a cell phone is too much. Also, if you don't like how this generation treats people, you don't know the history of the 50s lol. Or maybe she does and that's why she likes the 50s. I mean she has a racist sign. How ignorant.

Her style may be authentic but much of her view of how the 1950s was is a romanticized version. One I love but it's a stretch to say it's authentic and accurate. That said, if it makes her happy I think it's great. I live my life in a similar way but I'm more loosely vintage inspired. I just take what I like and mix it with other styles I enjoy.

Yes I agree. . Not practical for working in the modern world, though. The food in the 1950s was not that good honestly. Very few veggies and they were cooked to oblivion. Some of it was better, though. If she uses lots of plastic, that would not be accurate, either. But I really love her style.

Y'all, TLC over exaggerated this show. This woman uses modern technology and is up with the times, but her aesthetic is just stuck in the past. They made her say some of this stuff for shock value and to get views. Also, just because one enjoys the look of a certain era doesn't mean they agree with the attitudes and views of people of that time.

I can’t really blame her. I’m starting to transition my home and even my personal style to be more reminiscent of the 70’s and 80’s. When you have seen what society used to look like vs what it has devolved into now, and the continued decline and decay it’s going down into, it’s easy to want to reject that. Add to it the nostalgia and it’s a win. This is one of those things that really is just someone doing what makes them happiest and truly not hurting anyone with it.
