Jet is also my favorite character in the Avatar franchise! I also don't think he was completely wrong either because him all all the kids that he lead as the Freedom Fighters were orphans because of the Fire Nation killing their families and stole their homes! Jet saw which Rough Rhino soldier murdered his parents as a small child! The show never addresses what is done about how it's known that the Rough Rhinos did war crimes like this regularly! The Rough Rhinos weren't the only Fire Nation soldiers that killed citizens. Longshot, the archery guy who didn't speak, was the sole survivor of his entire village! The Fire Nation killed everyone else! Fire Nation colonizers where then being handed Earth Kingdom villages. In some cases, moving into now dead Earth Kingdom citizens homes! No one was making Fire Nation citizens move to the Earth Kingdom. These people chose to take stolen land for the chance at a better life and to get more wealth. Katara and Sokka acting like they know exactly how Jet and all the other Freedom Fighter kids feel is insulting! They only lost their mom. They still had their village, Gran Gran and dad to love them and keep them safe. All these kids lost EVERYTHING because of the Fire Nation! I'm not saying killing all the Fire Nation Colonizers is the right answer, but I do think all of them should be forced to leave with nothing from all Earth Kingdom settlements they had made. As far as I know, none of this is ever addressed in the show or comics. It really shows what amazing a people Jet, Longshot and Smellerbee were that they were able to forgive the Fire Nation and tried to move on with their lives instead of continuing their revenge after all the Fire Nation stole from them! Forgiveness like that isn't easy when you have lost everything.
