CFITOMAHAWK2 It lacks the most forgotten part where italian botanists in 1500, or 600 made it became from yellow (hence the name Pomodoro, Golden Apple) to red, and the history on about how in 1700 people discovered that the fruits were edibile, while it is tomato leaves that are poisonous... Since 1790 tomato also begun to be put also on pizza that had been "white" for almost 800 years ever since. 😀😎😘
@raffaeleirlanda69664 жыл бұрын
CFITOMAHAWK2 Credited since A.D. 997 in a renting contract of a Mill, in a town 100 km north of Naples pizza was originally white and being eaten without tomato, usually with Mozzarella cheese and Ham, or Cheese and other kinds of local Vegetables. Naples is a city founded by Greeks 2500 years ago and its heritage being Greek for a very long amount of time, with its population speaking fluently Greek language in Roman Italy upto almost Early Middle Ages period in A.D. 700 as long as it was conquered by Byzantine Empire when Western Roman Empire collapsed after A.D. 476. Pizza was created somwhen during Byzantine domination period as a derivative of Greek Plakos, or Greek Pita common in any Greek city such as Naples mixed with Roman Pinsa/Pistum described by Latin poet Virgil in poem Aeneid in 20 b.C. circa. Since then Pizza slowly became modified to acquire characteristics of the modern pizza that distinguish it from any other flatbread made elsewhere in the World in a process lasting one thousand years. About tomato, it is important to know Italian botanists from 1500 to 1600 made became Tomato from yellow color (the original tomato from Mexico) to red combining plants with interbreeding, so then it had been born original italian tomato varieties. In 1650/1700 circa it had been discovered that are the leaves that are poisonous and the solanine is not inactivated by heat so it is possible eating the fruit obly. Toxicity of tomato was usually caused from the fact the nobles who were the first people trying eating to eat it, kept tomatoes in metal plates that contained chemicals like lead being diluted by acidity of tomato and being absorbed by human body. From the middle of 1700 pomodoro started being consumed in Italy and then spreaded in all Mediterranean Sea Basin. Tomatoes began to be used as Pizza ingredient from 1790 circa. In 1889 pizzamaker Raffaele Esposito christiened this kind of red pizza as Margherita in order to please Queen Margherita of Savoy visiting Naples. The latter part of history since 1889 regards how pizza conquered whole World being the first globalized food together with US Cheeseburger. 😀😎😘

The ancient genetic ancestor of the Tomato was discovered in the area covering Colombia Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia and Chile (basically the Western side of South America) but the descendant called tomatl (Nahuatl) was cultivated and eaten in Central America and the Mexican region. As far as I know there's no record of the Inca introducing tomato as an edible food to the Spaniards so it probably wasn't a part of the staple diet during the Spanish conquest of South America, but when the Spanish encountered the Mexica, Mayans and other smaller tribes farther north they were introduced to the tomatl and then brought it back it back to Europe. If there's a Peruvian name then it would have to be in Quechua
@raffaeleirlanda69664 жыл бұрын
Europo Americo Nope! Cultural influence of Spanish Language influenced deeply the local American population as Spanish became the language of culture and the native languages became the languages of poor people. Influence is still so deep it overcome the previous native American languages names of things. Examples: "Bata" = "Potato", "Batata" = "Sweet Potato". Spanish used "Batata" for both the vegetables we called "Potato" (sweet potato, or american potato and the more common humble potato) and due to the influence of the language imposed by the Spanish settlers it slowly changed the original word too. "Tomatl" = "Tomatillo". "Xitomatl" = "Tomato". Again Spanish to ease understanding of new vegetables they were discovering in Americas used the word Tomato for the plant called Xitomatl in order to ease the concept. During centuries the new consuetude of calling Xitomatl as Tomato then forced people who spoken Nahuatl Aztec Language to call original "Tomatl" as "Tomatillo" in order to distinguish it from "Xitomatl" that usurped its name.

from Spanish Conquistador and chronicler Bernardino de Sahagun: "The earliest recordings began with the return of Cortés’ expedition to Mesoamerica, tomatoes entered Spain, almost certainly through the port of Seville. The domesticated tomato was a large part of the Nahua diet. According to Bernardino de Sahagún who wrote the Florentine codex in 1569, “there were sellers of different varieties of tomatoes in the markets. Those who dealt in tomatoes usually sold the large and small ones that were *yellow and red* when they were at full ripeness. Dishonest traders in this fruit sold rotten and squashed ones that were still sour from not becoming fully ripe. Because they were still green when eaten, they provided no flavor at all and caused stomach upset, and rheums”. Spanish history from that point on recognized tomatoes in two forms: “tomatl” which were green tomatoes used as a sour ingredient in soups and stews, and “xaltomatl or xitomatl” which translated to “fruit tomato” and were red, yellow or white." www.worldtomatosociety.com/article/history-of-tomatoes-in-europe/
