There is show on the History channel that goes into the story of Nearest and Jack and how Nearest taught Jack and they became great friends and also how devastated JD was when Nearest passed. It also showed how Jack's nephew wanted to lower the quality of the product to stock their warehouses when they could see prohibition coming and JD would have nothing to do with it. It also says that JD and NG bootlegged some of the whiskey while working for the Reverand. Not sure how accurate that is. What's weird is that I am not a fan of the #7 and find it merely tolerable but love their single barrel select and barrel proof offerings and like the Uncle Nearest whiskey.

I’ll have to check out that show, thank you! I’m with you on the old #7 as well, and that single barrel barrel proof for the money is one of the best whiskeys in the world
