Thanks for all you do, Randy! I've learned a ton from your channel and I appreciate your mission to love everyone in a world that's so easily opposed to that. I got to try a Pappy 15 year just last week and immediately thought it was by far one of the best bourbons I've tried, but because I got to enjoy it with a buddy I've been apart from until recently when my family and I moved back to Chicago it made it that much better. Thanks again!

WOW, I'm so glad I continued to the end of this video. I'd watched a few other videos of yours but hadn't subbed. After hearing the story of your brother, it really connected with me. I too have lost a brother. As a matter of fact, i've lost 2 brothers, 1 older, 1 younger, in separate car accidents 14 years apart. You are correct, bourbon does bring people together and this world needs much more love to be shown to people, even if you disagree with them on a variety of subjects. Keep up the good work.

I am sorry for your loss. I thank you for the support and will do my best to continue to bring people together. On a kind of funny note, when I first started the podcast I explained the show philosophy once and then was telling everyone I loved them at the end without explaining the full story. Lindsey (my wife) pointed out to me that I need to explain in each episode since there are so many people who have not watched before, so for over the last 100 episodes I have explained the philosophy at the end. When I saw your comment, I realized there are tons of people who purposefully only watch parts of videos who have no idea what the philosophy of the channel is. Do you think I should do some episodes where I explain it at the beginning?
@Preparedglueguy12 жыл бұрын
@@BourbonRealTalk That would be a good idea, every once in a while, at least. People (me) typically get the "10 best whisky's" or whatever and go on to the next one. Being able to explain who you are and how you got to this point would hopefully get more people to follow you and connect on a more personal level. Good luck and keep up the good work.

First of all, I'm one of those new viewers you mentioned in your close, and I appreciated your backstory about your brother. I'm also a veteran, was never in the awful situation he was in, but I feel for anyone who is or has been, and for their families and friends. I will raise my next glass to you and to your brother's memory. I totally agree about coming together over shared enjoyment; I see a lot of sniping and snark in the comments on some channels I follow for various interests...some folks can't seem to let others just like something and say so, without coming down on them for some imagined ignorant faux pas. Suddenly, they're not even talking about the subject at hand. Now, regarding the topic of this video, I would also suggest, as mixers, Four Roses (the flagship, yellow label), even though it's only 80 proof, Evan Williams BiB 100 Proof, and Old Forester Signature 100 proof. Definitely concur on Elijah Craig as a daily-drinker. You can't go wrong, neat, with a splash or a bit of ice. Henry McKenna 10 Year Old Single Barrel is a good Friday Night special sipper; I first became aware of it during a distillery tour in Kentucky back in 2014 and was surprised by it, McKenna not being a serious quaility Bourbon in my mind up to that time. Interestingly, it seems to have become a lightning rod for haters since it won some prestigious awards and the price started going up-imagine that! Either they think it's over-hyped (always a valid concern), or they claim it's not a patch on the OLD, "pre-fire" McKenna 10 Year Old Single Barrel, which is hard to dispute because pre-fire McKenna 10 Year Old Single Barrel is nearly as hard to find as a football bat. In the the Bourbon to Impress selections, I'd lean toward Elijah Craig 18, never been a big fan of Blanton's, no particular reason. Haven't tried the Michter's, although it's pretty available and a former boss used to rave about it. The Weller and Van Winkle I've not run across here, although I believe I've seen the George T. Stagg, but either way, I would probably balk at the price if it was available. For a birth-year Bourbon, jeez, I was born in the 50s...what would still be around and what condition would it be in? On some of the others mentioned, I haven't tried Belle Meade, though it's readily available here in Memphis, haven't run across Rabbit Hole, might have to do a search, and 1792 is already on the "must-try" list. Smoke Wagon doesn't seem to be available here, Stagg Jr, again, not readily available here, but I'll be on the look out. Thanks for another great, straightforward, insightful and informative video; keep working to bring us together with Bourbon!

Love your videos and closing messaging. I always have said good food and drink bring people together, i.e. good barbecue, good beer, and good whiskey. I'm looking to hopefully get a Red Breast 27 year by the end of the year when Spec's or Total Wine restocks. So far my everyday drinkers are Maker's Mark cask strength and Buffalo Trace followed with Eagle Rare for Friday nights.

@@BourbonRealTalk I just went to liquor store on my lunch break in west Houston saw a bottle of George T Stagg. Asked how much they told me $1000 lol. I almost spit out my coffee. @BourbonRealTalk3 жыл бұрын
@@DongHands84 I think I would have caused a scene over the lie that Buffalo Trace told them that. That is so absurd. Yes, the company that made the product and decided to put it into the world at a lower price than they could have suggested to another business to go ahead and take the profits they left on the table...because really BT is just a philanthropy organization.😂

The trip meant a lot to us. Also it is distilled the year I immigrated to USA. So it has a lot of special meaning. I am planning to open it when my son turn 21 which is still 16 years away. It will be a 36 yr old 12 yr Jameson. Back then I didn't know anything about whiskey, Jameson just happen to be my drink of choice (jameson ginger). Keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very nice man. Love it. Just getting into for real. What’s so funny , been drinking for a long time. 51 yrs. and jack , Jim, and wild turkey were always my go to. Neat iced or mixed. I just did not pay attention to all the different types of bourbon. This is a exciting time.

I cannot share much at the moment. But I will share that I too have had severe struggles with alcohol and drugs after service and injury. Neither have power over me now, thanks be to God! And I too try to redeem the time these days. (I chuckle that I no longer save any bottle for any occasion; I drink what I like whenever I want now.) So I I'd like to at least say: Thank you again for your content and even more so for your encouragement and sharing from your heart. And I am deeply sorry for your loss and of your extended family. I have much in common with your brother... Far too many do. I have made it through, thanks be to God. And now I spend much of my time attempting to help others in their similar struggles, as best I can. I've realized that a sincere ear and a kind word can go an incredibly long way, and that simply knowing that one isn't alone in his experiences and that there is hope for situational deliverance can be very powerful medicines. Horribly tragically my own efforts, though sincere, haven't always been successful. Thank God sometimes they are. I thank God also for your choice in being transparent, vulnerable, and intentionally encouraging here in your videos because not only is my inner man built up but also the positive narrative of love is magnified itself. Perhaps there would be a divine synergy amongst us if many if not most so chose?! All of your sentiments here are so well taken by me, brother. And I love you too, because He has first loved me. May we yet learn to choose to love rather than to hate, to listen rather than to shout, to help rather than hinder or hurt--and especially regarding those with whom we disagree. In truly being slow to anger, may we choose to wage war against the fears and desires inside us that would detract or distract from our pursuit of these. God be it so. It's not good for us to be alone. And we never truly are.

Beautiful! Everything. I ain’t afraid to say I love you too brother. God bless you and your family. Talking it out until one’s demons are minuscule is what helps you grow strong enough to say they aren’t demons, just experiences that made you grow stronger.

As a single malt Scotch fan I really enjoyed this. Seems like quality whiskey lovers have the same mindset when dealing whit bourbon, cognac, scotch, calvados and other quality spirits.

I sure hope so! Everyone should drink what they like, but the concept of having different levels of a spirit for different occasions crosses spirit boundaries.

I like how you explain subjects. I was wondering if you could do a video on American Blended Whiskey. Basically looking for an explanation of why is Vodka allowed to be mixed with Whiskey. Thanks in advance
@BourbonRealTalk3 жыл бұрын
The short answer is after supply was disrupted by prohibition and conscription of whiskey producers into the WWII effort there was not enough aged bourbon. They put laws on the books to make it possible to blend some whiskey into a neutral base that had other flavorings and coloring added to try to mimic real bourbon. The practice never faded because it is too profitable for producers to do away with it. This explains what it is: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5Ome3xuq7Jpmdk
