"On the 2001 60th anniversary DVD of Dumbo, Disney revealed a trailer of a DTV sequel that was in development at the time. It was plan to be release in the mid-2000's, but was completely cancelled when DIsneyToon Studios was going under new management." "In 2006, Disney released a midquel called "Bambi II" that got a theatrical release in some countries, and was released straight to DVD." I had to add these since Animat forgot them.

In the Salten book, there was a chapter about the animals all running when guns were sounding all around(first day of hunting season?) and after the day was over, surviving animals got together in a glen in the forrest. Bambi asked one deer,"Have you seen my mother?"The deer shook his head and turned away. The chapter's last words were,"Bambi never saw his mother again."

Thoughts on the movies: Dumbo - The closest I ever came to crying in a movie until Lion King came along. The Three Caballeros - I love the first two segments and all of the characters. Ichabod and Mr. Toad - I don't know why but I never saw The Wind in the Willows segment, only Sleepy Hollow, which I loved especially Ichabod and his rival's designs. Never saw any of the others.

Alright, so here's a couple cents on the crows. 1: They never call the lead crow Jim ANYWHERE in the actual film, only in some of the scripts and storyboards. Official sources have called him Dandy Crow in more recent years. 2: As Disney's first black animator Floyd Norman pointed out, they're not based on flat stereotypes, but are meant to be parodies of black singers from the time like Cab Calloway and Louis Armstrong. (Like how the Jungle Book vultures were meant to be parodies of the Beatles.) If you listen to a Calloway or Armstrong record, you'll see a lot of the crows' dialogue such as the back and forth banter and the slang is completely accurate to how these singers talked.

Fun 🤩 Fact about Dumbo, Walt deliver the final film to RKO that September of 1941 and initially they hated it they suggested Walt either bulking up ⬆️ with more animation to make it a full-length feature, cut some animation out to make it a short or let them release it as a B-movie (release it alongside another film), Walt vehemently disagreed with all three options and he was allowed to release it as he had envisioned.

The thing that makes Bambi's debut movie-- his ONLY movie, to be precise-- so precious is that while Snow White was the first ever feature-length Disney cartoon, Bambi's movie changed the way people look at animation, to this day. This is why I think Mickey Mouse and Bambi-- my nickname for them being "The Mouse and the Fawn"-- are the two most cartoon characters in animation history.

It actually made more sense to not have Bambi come across his mother's corpse. I mean think about it. After the hunter killed her, do you think he just left her there? Of course not. He took the body back with him to cook up. By the way, regarding that set of other creepy movies Bambi was apparently compared with. What was that third clip from?

Why didn’t you talk too much about Casey Jr. outside mentioning his ride at Disneyland? That cartoon train had some really fun facts surrounding him from Dumbo’s production. Mainly, the reason why he has that weird voice, it was produced using the Sonovox audio device

hey animat, a long time fan here, just wanna thank you for the effort you put on your videos! they've been realy informative and entretaining. HOWEVER, as a latin american viewer, i feel like i have to point out that the "good neighborhood" politics the US were enforcing in the 30s and 40s via the CIA and in which Walt collaborated aimed on holding back Comunism in latin american countries, not Fascism. as a matter of fact, a lot of latin american regimes at the time (including that of my country, Brasil) had Fascist outlines but/and were supported by the US because they persecuted not only comunists but all kind of popular organizations.

26:46 Kinda like Jim Henson playing Kermit since his debut in 1955 but then died in 1990 so it was past down to Steve Whitemire between 1990-2016 until Matt Vogel took over the rule in 2017 and still plays Kermit as of this comment.
