For all you people who said that Allan was mocking all Americans, I don't think he was, He only said that he took he family to America for 2 months and didn't like the American way of life so he decided take his family back to England. Allan is entitled to an opinion just like the rest of us. And Russell Harty asking Bobby why he wears a hat is stupid and inappropriate question, whether or not Bobby wears a hat is his own business.

I have always loved this song, since it came out. It's yet another Hollies "should have been" hits. It kind of sounds like a Hall & Oates tune. Sadly, this was as the group's contract with Polydor was coming to an end, so they didn't bother to promote it as hard as they should have. Also, this version is completely different than any that was released.

You are SO right! There are so many of their songs that I can't believe were not huge hits and I can only think that someone dropped the ball. Stellar vocals by Allan, brilliant harmonies and arrangements on truly wonderful, memorable songs that just stick in your mind.

@buildthis99: You make a good point here. He has every right to prefer another country's culture over another. But 50's and 60's Britain was obsessed with American culture. They copied our clothes our hairstyles and our music. They dreamed of owning big American cars. Shit, they even sang using American slang in their songs. They flocked to our movies. They danced our dance-moves. They were seduced by California culture. Why didn't Allan Clarke reject any of this in the 60's??? It's ridiculous.
