The Everly Brothers, yes, Don and Phil, did a fantastic job on this song on an lp called Two Yanks In England. In fact, it might be better than the Hollies, but only by a hair.

Weirdly, the guitar overdub isn’t on the 1968 EU 45 where this is the flip to Do The Best You Can. Are we sure it’s definitely not a later overdub?

They first did that guitar break for the Everly Brothers' album "Two Yanks in England" version of the song but the one we are listening in this was recorded in the 80s or 90s, - the same-

Strangely, I like the version without the lead guitar more. It has a brilliant bass guitar riff that builds tension in the middle of the song. The lead guitar distracts from it and the effect is lost. Still, great song, one of the best from The Hollies.
