@@SPDY65 I agree! I'm a die hard Hollies fan and for all their success, I still feel they're somewhat underrated. So many fine albums flying over the heads of the record buying public, especially their 70s albums!
@malcolml3093 жыл бұрын
@@SPDY65 Highly unlikely. The Hollies, were NEVER in the Beatles class (no insult, no one was), nor did they demonstrate the same capacity for artistic growth.
@SPDY653 жыл бұрын
@@malcolml309 Nope. I disagree. Allan Clarke could sing any Beetle under the table. The guy could sing text from a law book and it would sound better than any Beetles babble. Tony Hicks is a superior guitarist over any Beetle, and Bobby can keep that beat as well as Ringo. The beetles have survived amazingly well over the decades for a band that broke up after just a few years. The Hollies have been non stop since 1962. This is a classic Ford/Chevy debate, and no one will ever change my mind. Promotion was key, always is with bands. The other thing that puts the Hollies above many bands is compatibility. They didn't have any of the drama/grandstanding/ego bullshit the beetles did.

Although a Top 10 for The Hollies in 1965, Yes I Will is lesser known than other Hollies hits. It remains one of their finest and The Monkees recorded a version of this song in 1966 for their debut album under the title I'll Be True To You, romantically sung by Davy Jones. The harmonies on The Hollies version are so tight and professionally executed.
