Just an update for anyone who cares to know: My brother has done his second round of out patient chemo and is rapidly losing his hair. He has to go back into the hospital for about 4 or 5 days each session so he tells me what food he wants so I make up a care package and bring it to him at the hospital because the food there is pretty nasty. I am doing everything I can to help him because if he dies I want to know I did everything I could to help.

Sadly, I am terminally ill. My little brother lived 7 hours from me. They wanted to put me in hospice back in August. My doctors have up on me and I had given up as well. Eric said he wasn't going to give up on me even though he had his own busy life to live because he is a nurse practioner? He brought me to Amarillo and he doctored me and found help for those in my condition. He could have taken the path of least resistance but he didn't and I am still here for now. He improved my quality of what time I have left. I asked why he did it. He said "Because you're my brother and I love you". I played this song for him and we both had a good, healthy cry.

It's one of the most fabulous songs ever written and rendered!! The exquisite vocals rank with any ever performed by any artist. No song has a deeper, more desperately needed message than "He ain't heavy, he's my brother." It's moral and humane expression of caring for our fellow man has never been surpassed. The Hollies hold a unique place in musical history for this timeless gem of a song.

Having grown up in Father's Flanagan's Boys Town in the 1960s I walked past the statue dedicated to the story from which this comes from. There was a small boy who could not walk well and another boy picked him up on his back and carried him around even through the Nebraska snow. Father Flanagan ask him if he was weary from the burden and the responded, "He's not heavy Father he's my brother ". I think this group honored the story well with there music.

Sadly, my brother and I were from a Divided dysfunctional family BUT we had a connection for decades that knew none of that division in our hearts really because no matter how much time......weeks or months pass.....it was like yesterday and we were never long out of touch until we were older with our families and jobs and different states. Time flies .....I wish we had kept in touch more later on but things happen. If you're younger reading this.....i hope you ponder the quicknesss of time and share more of that cherished time with your brother or brothers.❤🌀✌️🌀🌀

Jesus said to her " Your brother will rise again " Jesus further said to her " I am the resurrection and the Life " He who believes in me will live , even though he dies " In all the literature of the world no other person has made such a statement and that is the final and sure hope for the Human Race. This song hits home especially for us who had friends and family who were in the Vietnam war. Just young boys on the cusp of becoming men. Some of my friends came home, some not. If we could love one another as we were created in love, what a beautiful world this would be.Im 70 now, a widow of a retired disabled veteran. I've read so many comments and my heart brakes for all of you. We all have a story to tell. Jesus said we are passers-by, we will be with the ones who have returned home. We are in this world but not of this world.I pray for everyone to find peace and love in their hearts.

My brother died on August 4th , 1986 from lung cancer, at the ripe old age of 37! I was 35. I’m now 72, but there is seldom a day goes by that I don’t think about him. He was a pain in the butt sometimes, but I wish he was here now. I love you Bob, see you in my dreams and hopefully be with you one day

This reminds me of my brother (ex. Marine 1974). He wanted to go to Vietnam But He was still in HS. He's still alive but I don't know where He is. He has always told me The VA led to the death my other brother, another Ex. Marine. I wanted to go but I have flat Feet. My 3 uncles were also ex. Marines. This song hits hard.

I have only one brother, little brother, but he was always hated me for no reason since i can remember. He lied so many about us while keep playing and taking advantage of me n my family. He is really weighed on me.., took me awhile to understand : no matter how cruel he was and he is to me, he is still my brother.. and the best gift God gave to me through him - is : i can experience and finally understand what does it mean of TRUE FORGIVENESS.. He aint heavy, he is n will be always my brother.. i let your approval go brother.. ❤❤❤

In March this year my dad got very ill with him having to go through medical tests for dementia and when he was released from the hospital he put the TV on and watching the music on TV and he ain't heavy he's my brother came on so I went home and rewrote the lyrics slightly. The road is long With many a winding turn That leads us to who knows where, who knows where But I'm strong Strong enough to carry him He ain't heavy, he's my father … So on we go His welfare is of my concern No burden is he to bear We'll get there … For I know He would not encumber me He ain't heavy, he's my father … If I'm laden at all I'm laden with sadness That everyone's heart Isn't filled with the gladness Of love for one another … It's a long, long road From which there is no return While we're on the way to there Why not share? … And the load Doesn't weigh me down at all He ain't heavy, he's my father … He's my father He ain't heavy, he's my father He ain't heavy, he's my father

Allan Clarke of The Hollies is one of the iconic voices of 1960's pop music, especially when he was harmonizing with Graham Nash. The Hollies had some of the best rock musicians of the era in the line-up, including the ones you see in this video. Unfortunately, they are lip-syncing here. Their live performances are equally awesome.

I absolutely love this song. ❤ Back in 1968 and 69 my brother took in a lot of strays, hitch hikers, hippies and draft dodgers passing through our town to who knows where. He called them inside, gave them food, hot coffee and a place to sleep. When we woke up in the morning our Mothers purse was missing money and her wallet. They stole our vintage radio, a lamp, and our record collection. Anything they could sell. That's when our Mother told my brother to pull his head out and quit taking in strays. Nice song, but it can still be a dog eat dog world sometimes.

My grandma gave me the two they handed out on that day this past week because I told her that despite the pain his loss caused that I forgot which day it was that he left us. Life has been hard on me over the years since then and even harder in the recent months, but my grandma told me that we are strong people and we will always find a way to carry on. From very young, I could see the damage in his eyes, hear it through his voice, feel it in his expressions. We were close. People all say we'd choose the same 5 ideas, only each settle on a different one. I watched him falling backwards into the eerie void of loss. He was always reaching for his father's love. There was no love there to find. I was cold, coz I knew this. Pops hit me once and I took back at him with a big blade. Our mom, just like my brother himself wanted that love so very much, they could not ever see pop's emptiness. When my brother finally slipped into the evermore, I was on the other side of the planet. My other brothers called, one at a time, each saying how pops told them they did not have to attend his funeral. It was a cop out, because he had helped each of us at one time or a few. He and I protected each other- and we were fierce about it. Then he snapped. It was 2012. Pops asked me to come and not to speak much. The crowd was very rude, and the displays were all not the ones he wanted. I had a few things to say. Many stopped to tell me how "eloquent" my words were. Yet it mattered so little. My brother was in an urn- against his wishes. After 55 years of fights, trouble and yes, great moments we had, he was just gone. Poof. So I do not just listen to this song, I feel it in my soul. It brings me both joy and blues; sometimes anger. I appreciate that beyond even my love for the music. My brother will always be with me. His damage has gone full cycle. My own is such, I can overcome. Great band and one of their best songs. OK, be well and carry on. ~RaVen~
