What has to be remembered is that products evolve & while evolution is good, sometimes we get carried away by incremental improvements. For example not so long ago the resolution of the Holosun was top level & you would pay 8K for that performance. Everyone would rave about that resolution & happily use it thinking they had the best tech available. It worked just fine & it was "the best". So nothing changed, the resolution is still just as usable now as it was back then & not that long ago. 1.6k for the Holosun is crazy & it's performance/resolution was seen as perfectly usable. Yes evolution is great & if you can afford 7K then absolutely go for it but don't let anyone tell you products like the Holosun are not worth using because some fancy latest tech has better resolution etc. It does the job well, so it's perfectly acceptable.

Boblov brand makes a night vision camera that’s small, light, affordable, and mountable on a helmet. It’s a small black square looking thing and I use it to shoot. The latency is negligible(but noticeable) but it has zoom and works really really well with an ir light out to 140~ yards. If you want to start shooting in the dark it’s great for that. The field of view is about 40 degrees, so look through a toilet paper tube to get a feel for that

Hey Micah, my DRSTH finally showed up after 8 months lmao. And I think you glossed over a NEAT feature you can pull off with the DRS. So when when using NODs in outline mode you can flip the front cover down, and decrease the projector brightness down to 1 or 2. Doing so gives you a Budget weapon mounted ECOTI. So, you can roll up on a field or clearing with your NODs and just pull your rifle up to scan for signatures. It works SO DAMN WELL. for the price if you cant afford a dedicated thermal setup its a huge win. Plus, for regular use a magnifier is HIGHLY reccomended. Like almost an essential piece of the puzzle.

@mattfleming869 ай бұрын
Hey Micah, if you are on their good side for gen 2 they need a "wide scan" mode. Maybe .6-.7x. That would help the optic get a LOT more out of the little viewing window and sensor resolution for detection. Go to scan-1x-4x instead of 1-3-5. I'd PREFER that over the recording abilities. It would also probably help to get on top of the hot part if you were at short ranges with running targets.
@tenchraven9 ай бұрын
When you're using this kind of battery density, recording doesn't draw that much more power and 32GB of flash is the size and thickness of your pinky nail without the rest of your finger. Sure, there is some software, but that's real light. :P I like where you're going, but giving up recording, you're saving like ten bucks to the manufacturer and gaining maybe a percent of battery life.

I have an AGM sting 640, and paid $3500 for it. Not only is it a clip on, it can be mounted on a helmet and can be use with a PVS 14 and a ir laser which gives you more capabilities.Another reason this is a good setup is because you can’t look through glass with a thermal but with nightvision you can, so with both you can have more advantages. Pick up and I D a heat signature use the ir laser for rapid shot by using the night vision. For me this works very well. Another good thing about this thermal is you can carry it in your pocket and use it for security purposes to find and ID heat signatures day and night. Removing the AGM Sting from my weapon won’t effect my zero of my weapon. I also don’t have to depend on a battery during the day because I’m not always using the thermal or a battery operated sight. I don’t know about the other two but another reason I went with the AGM sting is I can use rechargeable external batteries. This way I have enough power to run my thermal for a lot longer time and cheaper then using cr123 batteries only.
