The Holt Slayer Gate in Just Over a Minute - The Ancient Gods Part One

Realized I should've explained some things. Update 5 removed 1 Archvile, Blood Maykr, & Marauder from this gate; made Carcasses no longer respawn; and added some Hell Knights. As for the BFG, this isn't some new tech and has always been in the game. I found that when tendrils first attach to an enemy, there can sometimes be a period of time where they're invulnerable to damage from the tendril. The higher your framerate, the more likely this invuln can happen, and the longer it can last. Once this invuln period ends, demons takes a massive chunk of damage, more than they should have if this invuln never happened. The longer this invuln lasts, the more damage it does in that burst (I've killed healthy Barons like this). If your FPS is high enough, and you get lucky, this can happen. Also, with the Blood Maykrs, I specifically stood in those spots to manipulate them to instantly attack. Not all BMs seems to have a manip spot like this, but most do. You can see 3 more in the start of Holt in my 100% wr run. And apparently, most (if not all) issues with enemy AI related to FPS were fixed. Haven't tested to confirm but I've seen a few people say this.

I ran around for 15 solid minutes, missing every head shot for the blood maykr, and barely surviving off my battle looping and armor spamming. Bowsr drops in and finishes in 72 seconds… probably while doing calculus with his left hand at the same time.

I finally did this level on Nightmare after all these years. It looks like the developers somewhat nerfed it. Thankfully there's no longer "TWO" marauders at the end. My advice to anyone trying to beat this level on nightmare, is to restart the whole level if you have to, and go in with two BFG ammo, and full health and armor. There's several blue orbs in the level. Save at least one. Then when the automap shows up at the end of the level, go back and get one of the blue orbs before you enter the slayer gate. Once you enter the slayer gate, quickly rocket launcher the first Arch-vile, and freeze the second, and finish him off with the chaingun with shield. Then save the last two BFGs for the two DOOM Hunters.

This gate is still pretty damn hard for the average player lol You're watching a speedrunner do it. I found an Instant Attack Manipulation for both Blood Maykrs, making them not an issue while also letting me Blood Punch the Doom Hunters on spawn. This gate was even easier when the DLC first released.

@@yaroslav7458 Superheavies, including the Marauder, can all die to a BFG from full health. If your framerate is high enough (and you get lucky), BFG tendrils can do massive damage like this. I'll make a pinned comment explaining it further since others may also ask.

I..... don't understand. Why didn't the possesses Marauder block the BFG shot? Why did the Doom Hunter's sledge break in one blood punch(it takes two, I did it today only on Nightmare)

Marauders won't block BFG if it's in the air before they spawn. Neither of the Doom Hunters' sleds broke in one blood punch. 1st took an extra SSG shot, 2nd took an extra SSG + PB + SSG. Blood Punch does 4000 damage to the sled (if it registers properly, sometimes it does less), and you need 5000 damage to break it. SSG is 1600 if all pellets hit.

If the BFG is in the air before he fully spawns, he doesn't block it. Usually. I found shooting the BFG from the other side of the arena, he blocked it a lot, but this side he never did.
