Now be honest...you must be making more because of youtube than your business or you would stick with towing. If you get to the Heavy D ad rate i can't watch. I love your channel because of content and not ads.
@CaseyLaDelle

Nope, it definitely has the potential to earn more, but it will only do that if I start pushing sponsorships, merch sales, or branded products. But on average the videos pay much less than the job would have paid if I had charged for it, and that is the 100% honest truth. Every once in a while a video performs exceptionally well and pays more than the job would have, but that is definitely not the norm. On the RV over the bank job that I did with Puddle Jumper towing and their rotator for example, it took 9 hours start to finish and my truck should have billed out a little under $5k. That video to this day has paid me $2,500. So by doing that as a KZbin job I made half of what I should have, but if it would have been a sponsored video my total income from that video would be $7,500, which is 50% MORE than the job would have paid, and I’d have still got to help someone who was in a bad spot (both figuratively and literally) That is what I mean when I say the ad revenue is NOT where KZbin channels are making their money. The real money comes from the other sources of income that you can create with your KZbin channel.

As for how you do your ads, why not open with truck prep and ad read, Two birds one stone

So I’d love to hear your thoughts. Sponsorships are an absolute necessity and to continue to grow this channel, there will have to be more of them and there’s just no two ways about it. So what do you guys think, is placing them somewhere in the middle of the video the way to go, or do you like the Cletus McFarland style of knocking them out right off the bat and being done with them? I think I’m going to try that style and see how it goes.

150k Sub KZbinr here: KZbin work has been my primary income going on 7 years now. I 900% agree with your choices and video sponsor methode. I myself do much the same. But target sample products that have a commission with Amazon or the company direct. KZbin is not what it was 6 years ago. Back then I worked 3 to 4 days a week and made twice the income I do now working 6 days a week. I feel you on how KZbin caused a down turn in the towing business. It did the same for me in the Lawn Tractor flipping to the point I gave it up for the last 3 years and used the leftovers to go racing for something different. What I am getting at is sometimes you need to pivot. Like setting up a second off the air business that uses your big trucks that you are a silent partner in.

As a broke a$$ 4x4 enthusiast here in Montana, I don't have the luxury of buying random products I see promoted to me on the internet, but when I do see you promoting a particular product or company I have the confidence to consider that company or product for my needs. Aside from a hat I purchased from Robby to acquire a flake of the original paint from Ed's Golden Nugget, I have never actually purchased a product suggested to me by a youtuber.. with one exception.. the power probe I carry and use was featured by you in a video a couple of years back. (it's been every bit as handy as you said it would be) Your videos are almost always entertaining - yes even the videos being recorded by a camera outta your front pocket lol!! I appreciate your honesty. And at the same time, I appreciate the needs of the large trucking companies who don't want to have their company logo splashed all over the internet when they are having a bad day. A long time ago now, when the internet was still primarily dial up and youtube didn't exist, I drove motor coach for one of the largest charter companies in the midwest. It was a privately held company and had over 100 45 foot long coaches. If something, anything happened to a coach and it needed to be towed (honestly the only way they can be towed is by putting it on a lowboy flatbed), the towing company was required to tarp the entire coach so that the logo could not be seen. It looks bad to think that a blown engine will strand 53 passengers somewhere on the side of the highway.

You pay KZbin for the ad-free experience? Why? Are you watching on a smart TV or something? I'd understand paying for a subscription if content creators got a big cut of the subscription fee, or maybe if KZbin gave a damn about creators or myself. KZbin has worked tirelessly to earn my ire, so I do what's best for me: I use an ad blocker. If KZbin manages to win the war against ad blockers, I'll simply opt out of watching videos on KZbin. Until that happens, or a better service comes along and eats KZbin's lunch, I'm a leech sucking up KZbin's cold corporate blood.

@@warpedweirdo I have my reasons. Yes, I could use an ad blocking software, but I do not view this as ethical, but I also hate watching ads that are just random crap, or political BS, so paying for premium is really the only way to go. I am sure Casey could weigh in on how much "premium" memberships pay him

Absolutely admire your integrity Casey. It’s unfortunate a rare quality these days. My wife and I watch every video and a promotion at the start of each video would be the best option in our opinion. Then the recovery or whatever you film comes seamlessly after that. Looking forward to your next video from Tasmania.

I also watch Cleetus, and I think his style would be perfect for you. You're not interrupting your content and I'm more likely to watch the ad if it's at the beginning of the video. I like knowing that if I see a product on your channel, I can trust it if I want to buy it. That and the things you do to help people are the reason I watch this channel. Even if the video isn't something that necessarily interests me, I'm going to watch it to the end and like the video to try and help the algorithm. Keep up the great work.

One of the things that I like that people do when doing sponsors, is the ad timer in the corner or scroll bar on the bottom so if we don't wanna watch, we know how far to skip ahead to get past the ad. As far as sponsor ads, at the beginning when your in the truck on the way, or loading up while it's idling would be great. Keep on making that money and growing. Love watching you from Eugene!

One of the things that drew me to your channel since the early track Jeep days, and keeps me watching every video you put out is your honesty, integrity, and transparency. I personally have no complaints about you or other KZbinrs using ads and sponsorships to make money. Content creators like you aren't doing KZbin for funsies...you're trying to put food on the table and pay mortgages. I'm also OK with channels that heavily promote their merch. I'm on board with just about any revenue stream that helps keep my favorite KZbinrs doing what I like...making interesting or entertaining videos. All the haters who complain about ads in videos should try working at their job for a year with no pay and see how they feel about sponsorships. (And maybe they should also use an ad blocker to at least bypass most of the ones KZbin interjects into videos. That approach works for me.) As for when to do the ads, I like The Fat Electrician's approach. He does a quick 1 minute intro telling you what the episode is about, and then jumps to a short ad. Most of his ads are entertaining enough that I don't feel the need to fast forward through them, but if I don't want to watch them, they're easy enough to skip. Bottom line is if you need more sponsored videos, do them. The viewers who will stop watching your videos because you "went commercial" will be a very small percentage and they aren't helping you make a living anyway. Screw 'em.

Not sure how you would feel about adding the sponsorship portion at the end of the video, sounds weird and you dont see it alot but I watch a pilot guy who always promotes Squarespace at the end of his videos. Trent Palmer is his name and channel. He always thanks them at the end and says this video wouldnt have been possible without their continued support bla bla bla. But if its at the end people have already watched your content and they can skip it if they dont wanna see it. Anyways, just an option. BTW, screw all those haters man, you're a hard working, honest, decent man and if they wanna throw hate its prob 90% jealousy. Take care brother!

You cannot put a price tag on integrity. Keep up the awesome videos and my vote would be sponsored segment at the opening of video. Unless it's a rad sponsor that can be plugged while you're making that video. The few sponsors you currently have, are relatable to you and most of us watching.

Ive been regularly watching your videos for the last 2 years because I'm also a CDL trucker, I've ran heavy equipment and tow trucks. I like your REAL style of filming and video production as well as the products you use as they are things I am also interested in. Nobody who watches big truck stuff gives a crap about "gut health" - but as a KZbinr myself I also understand that sponsorships pay the bills. Stick to being real, thats what we're all here for. If I could recommend anything that has been helpful - it would be to also become an Amazon Affiliate. Almost every product you can imagine doing deals with is also available through Amazon, and having those affiliate links in your description go a long way to simultaneously promote the brand as well as earn you a percentage of the sale revenue. People know, trust, and enjoy the convenience of Amazon, and knowing that the purchase price doesn't change but still manages to break you off a piece to support your channel sweetens those deals for viewers.

Sponsorship: I fear that many people may click away if done at the beginning, maybe if you throw it in right before that dramatic towing moment, kinda like in the tv movies right when it gets suspenseful, they cut to commercial. This may force people to stay tuned because we really got to see what's going to happen next...I hope that makes sense. I appreciate your integrity in not recommending bad products, it shows you care more about people than money. I hope you get a good solid sponsorship, maybe an ongoing contract. You're a good person with a big heart. I have seen you do many jobs free of charge, even though you have many bills. Keep up the good work, try to ignore the critics and trolls and focus on your strong supporters!

1.I have lived in or near Salem since Aug 1967 one week after we married nearly backed up into three creeks lake. I love the content from one of my favorite areas and am always trying to figure out where you are on the map. I pay 13.99 a month for no adds from You Tube. 2. For those making videos that put a one minute boring sponsorship in I just forward past that piece. 3. The way you advertise i.e. power station it is so short; it does not bother me, and for the sponsors is the best way to advertise their product from a likeable person. 4. By the way I think you prefer the KZbin making to the heavy towing.

Casey, you have my compliments and support because of your integrity. Yours is the first recovery channel I look for when I fire up KZbin, and I pruned back to only three recovery channels a long time ago because I did/do respect your ethics and style. Regarding ads during the video. You can't stop hauling a vehicle out of a problem half way through the recovery to promote a sponsor. That could be down right dangerous. You take time to include your lovely family in what you do. Fantastic. If you do promote a product in your videos I am confident that you believe in it, but the chances of me being able to support that product would be pretty slim as I am 76 and I live in Australia, and I don't take shopping trips to the US. Or any overseas country for that point. Please continue being you, and let the whingers keep themselves happy wasting their time on any channel just so that they can complain. They are what we would refer to as Wally's, or a few more unrepeatable names. Sermon over. Please continue being yourself and I will keep watching, as I suspect a lot of other people will do also. Keep up the good (honest) work Sir.

And KZbin now has two commercials back to back where there was only one. Marketing companies are like fake news. I don't care if you wear last year's shoes, or if you drive a car that is older than two years. That is as far down the rabbit hole I am going to go.

Oh wow a towing company with intergiety . The others must really hate Casey. I for 1 appreciate it. I was in commercial trucking for over 40 yrs. I was towed a number of times, more so after all the electronics started going on these rigs. I know no one I ever worked for would want their name associated with break downs. It's just (potentially) bad for the image. Casey fuzz their names or just show what you can, its still entertaining. I've been retired for 6 yrs now and still miss the job NOT the employers just the work and most of the people along the way. Casey keep it up , I'm sure quality sponsors who realize you do have integrity will flock to your door slowly but surely. Do your best and I think we'll keep watching and "Hating" Casey .

As I have said in more than one comment, I still don't understand people who send hate to a content creator just because they don't like the videos that he offers them FOR FREE!! If I don't like a video or KZbin channel I simply watch something else, no one forces me to watch a video or channel that I don't like. With this video I think you show once again why it is worthwhile to continue supporting your channel EVEN MORE, not only so that you and your family can maintain a "decent" standard of living I don't see anything wrong with the fact that you put ads on your videos, since as you have made clear on more than one occasion you try to associate your name with things that you believe in and that you would buy, and that apart from helping you maintain your lifestyle (and helping people who would otherwise be faced with very high towing bills that are possibly unaffordable for them, let's not forget) can also help people find useful and "reliable" products.
