WOW! This is the best arm-wrestling video I’ve seen! I’ve been told that I have a strong hook because of my wrist flexion and bicep, but I lose when I go into the hook (and so I’ve been depending mainly on my low-hand top roll)! Now I know why I lose in the hook, because I did not add the shoulder rotation in the center! So my hook was always defensive and eventually my opponent opens my fingers and takes my wrist and I lose (lol, I am no Todd Hutchings so I can't make a comeback from the losing position in the hook!)

I think the importance shifts between wrist flexion and internal rotation depending on the opponent. Usually if I'm against a toproller I won't think twice before giving up all my internal rotation to secure the wrist

Great video guys. As a hooker I find the "running" top roll move is a good defensive move if I'm hitting sideways, but if I know someone is going to do that I drag straight back and cup and that's my counter for that particular top roll. Just my 2 cents. Great job 💪💪

I like Khadzimurat hook, but i think Rustam hook is the best hook style to beat a strong biceps

Thanks a lot guys. I've been arm wrestling for about a year now and although my bicep strength is very good (compared to my training partners) I struggle to generate any force in a hook. Could you please highlight how and where the force comes from to finish a hook? Thanks!

Train sidepressure and supination.

Or maybe your pronation or fingers are lagging.

@@tashikrtv6878 My hand is solid. I train all of the fundamentals. I'm 6'3 and 235lb. Strength training for many years. I should be stronger in a hook, but I struggle to generate force. I don't think I understand it enough. One of my 170lb buddies can hold me in a hook easily, and I'm stronger than him in every variable. I need help 😂

If you are stronger in all the fundamentals it probably does come down to technique! Send us a video on IG for us to check out!

This series is really great. Love you guys. Sad that you stopped making those chef videos tho hahah but they were probably too much effort for the return on an AW channel.

Very helpful video for myself considering I feel more natural toprolling. I need to get more comfortable in the hook to be a more rounded armwrestler. Thank you!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I would say that the best hooker, style wise, is Evgeni Prudnik. Also Rustam and Sasho are amazing
@johnhawes22622 жыл бұрын
I’d put Khadzimurat Zoloev as the best style wise tbh.

Todd hutchings say he like to HOOK palm to palm and high. Not wrist to wrist and not supinate. Im curious how its translate on the table

How hard would it be to pull off what Brzenk did at 4:03?? So it looks like he’s in a top roll position then instantly switches to a hook before the guy has time to react?
@BorisIl1 Жыл бұрын
Whats going on actually is that they were about to slip and brzenk saw that his opponent wasnt paying atention to the match and was just trying to slip so he abused lack of focus to let go of fingers and then with speed set in hook

I have a question that maybe someone can answer. Why bother training supination as a hooker? I get that you need to supinate in the hook but what moves by your opponent even attack your supination? The high and low hand toproll attack your cup, and someone else's hook doesn't even attack your hand at all right? Any explanation is appreciated!
