Every time I see footage of the wall being pulled down and people from East and West crossing over to hug and shake hands with their fellow citizens, it brings tears to my eyes. It truly was a beautiful event and an important day in history. How far we have fallen since then...

Hard to believe that anyone could seriously contemplate reimposing socialism and start it's ridiculous cycle over again.

Thank you for a wonderful commemoration. I was in my thirties and well remember the times. As a oneness apostolic pentecostal I vividly remember the Siberian Seven and still have news clipping from the events. Later we had Soviet Pentecostal families come to Missoula, MT to visit our church through this door in history. Schultz is quite prescient in his observations regarding communications and resolve between leaders of opposing ideologies in today's world. Not only do we face a belligerent Russia, but North Korea, Venezuela, Hong Kong, and Taiwan pose very similar situations. We still are a beacon to these folks longing for basic human victories. Let us not falter in our responsibilities to uphold the costs, burdens, and hopes of the liberties we have been so blessed with.

I'm 37 and I remember this on the news. I can remember they were selling pieces of the wall and I wanted one.

Could someone please explain why the comments are disabled on the video claiming to prove Darwin's theory of evaloution wrong? Also, is the Hoover institute a religious organisation or is it funded by one????

As always, well done. The most remarkable, unpredictable and unexplainable development of the last 50 years. The wall that looked like it could last for decades became mantlepiece material in just days. There is a clever argument as to the role of the SDI and importantly Reagan's declaration of it that drove the USSR economy to collapse. 15-17% of GDP was already extreme, but to try to match Reagan's scheme meant imminent economic collapse. Did Reagan really believe in SDI or was he a military genius to act as if he was? Either way the Soviet dream died.

George Schultz is a phenomenon, but it seemed to me he underrated the strengths of Russia. If relations with the West normalize in a post-Putin Russia, it has the potential to do great things. Let's not forget it is the world's sixth largest economy now.

It is still shocking the lack of fear surrounding and knowledgeable about communism that is missing in today’s education. It is even more disconcerting that folks cannot see the similarities between socialism and communism although not the exact same they share a lot of the same values. It seems the US is small socialism with free market capitalism. It should stay this way with minimum but some regulations. There is a reason why free markets and Democracy has worked for the last 250+ years. But I’m not sure we know all the exact reasons.

I'm not sure how often the people who run this read these, but please there's something about Howard Stern and Hillary Clinton's interview. I'm not happy that she got on the show and I don't want her getting another chance at this to waste people's time🐑🌋💀🇺🇸
