The Horrible Theology of the Lakeland Revival!

Such a toxic theology. My wife was not saved when we met and she was able to walk perfectly fine. Several months into our relationship she had a personal encounter with the Lord and gave her life to Him. She began experiencing difficulty walking a short while later and was eventually diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She has shared the joy of the Lord with everyone around her and served the Lord for over 20 years now and her disease has progressed further. Ironically, many years ago, someone told me she could receive healing by bringing her to the Lakeland Revival when it was actually going on. My response was "If God wants to heal her, he can heal her anywhere, heck even in the bathroom if He wanted to".

I agree with you brother. Your wife sounds like a beautiful, Godly woman. If you'd like to take a look at some stories of people putting their MS into remission through a whole food and or a carnivore diet, then, look on KZbin for a documentary called LIVING PROOF. It is by a man out of Canada. Secondly if you type in CARNIVORE MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS, you will see several stories, one of my favorites is by a woman named Emily. :)

I don't have a problem as such with that 'the Gospel includes' physical healing. It definitely does and denying this is actually a rejection of the gospel of Jesus Christ. However they put the cart in front of the horse by insisting that at the start of salvation, you need to demonstrate some instant healing. Additionally they put man in charge over what is the father and the son's... And that's where it becomes really dangerous in the light of the prophetic parts of the New Testament.

Ya when he started the Lakeland thing on god tv my dad and step mom liked him I didn’t kicking a lady it didn’t feel right. Then 2 years later he came to my city went with friends they wanted to see Todd heal me (I have mild crebal palsy). Nothing happened. He tried pushing me into the spirt I threw him off me friends called police the people were not nice. I asked to not have him push on my head I had brain surgery. Todd didn’t listen so I pushed him away. And it was a money grab. God is good. U guys rock

Todd White prayed for about 900 people before he saw a single healing. Not once did Jesus turn anyone away who came for healing of any sort. Which means it's ALWAYS Gods will to heal. It's just that not many people believe that. And they don't receive it.

I do believe that the power is available today to Christians. But that doesn't mean that I consider the majority of the proclamations to be serious, real or trustworthy. Paul's thorn in the flesh was probably not a sickness. There were false teachers who infiltrated the churches and spoke against Paul, which he was constantly warning them about. In the Old Testament, three times God warned His people that their enemies would become thorns in their sides, or eyes, if the Israelites didn't rid the land of them. Which turned out to be the case. Paul was dogged by false teachers trying to destroy the church, and the burden was heavy on him. That is possibly the best explanation of his thorn in the flesh. He said it was a messenger of Satan.

It might sound as though a person confesses Jesus is Lord when he quickly spouts it meaninglessly, or almost spouts it in an unclear round about way while talking rapidly. There are a number of lies/deceptions that false teachers/prophets may teach while superficially mouthing the words that Jesus is Lord. It takes some in depth wisdom and listening to hear if they are truly confessing that Jesus is Lord in their daily lives and speech, or even in their sermons which glorify money and self. I think that's why they always tend to be so vague and folks have such a hard time putting their finger on what the false teachers are saying. They will say yeah Jesus is God but then in private they say the universe is god too and some claim everything is god and so in that light Jesus really isn't all that special. They worship and serve the created. They will say yeah Jesus is Lord but they have changed the definition of Lord in their mind; and what they are meaning in their mind when they say that; is that christ consciousness is Lord or that Jesus was the best guru; or the best at the new age crafts they are practicing, or the best at teaching new thought etc.; and therefore wanting to learn from what they claim he taught. It's another Jesus they are confessing and a different spirit. They site certain bible verses that they have reinterpreted into socially acceptable belief systems and thus they call themselves believers and call Jesus Lord only in a superficial way. They follow their imaginations and seek Self. Self is on the throne. They say He died for them but not for their sins. They say He died for some unclear reason or example; or Only in the sense of showing them and teaching them more about new age practices and crafts, and for getting their best life now, and seeking the divine within themselves and reaching their goals and fulfilling their dreams.They say each person has to pay for their own sins, though. and they even call it dying to self: although new age practitioners are extremely selfish and self absorbed, and mean and hard hearted. Don't cross them. Also pagans may sometimes defend human sacrifice by stating it was honorable And even claim sometimes folks volunteered for it. Yeah right, maybe an underdog that everybody hated and shunned. But they will not admit that Jesus, who is God Almighty, died for our sins and rose again; They will not admit what truly happened on the cross. We must repent and be baptised in Jesus blood. They won't admit they have to humble themselves and confess their sins and surrender their lives in absolute obedience to Jesus. and won't admit that believing that is the only way to be forgiven and cleansed of our sins, and to be saved.

@ it was a testimony of the authority of Christ and the gospel. Signs and wonders don't change hearts. For instance, Jesus rose Lazarus from the dead. It was confirmed by many witnesses. The Pharisees did not doubt the veracity of Lazarus' resurrection, but even though he'd already died and came back, they plotted to re-kill Lazarus. Proof was in the fully verified pudding. It didn't change their hearts. Now were their people who DID repent? Absolutely. I grew up in Charismatic/Pentecostal churches. They spent a lot of time teaching me that I needed to perform signs and wonders, but that's just it. I Don't have that ability. I can't create miracles or signs or wonders. And when I stepped back to critically examine the claims made, the people telling me to go perform these acts weren't performing them either. I'm not a Cessationist in the traditional sense, if God wants to heal someone miraculously, He can. He can do whatever he wants. By the time I was in my 30's & 40's, I was exhausted from trying to perform. If I asked why these things that we're supposed to be doing, it was always something I was doing wrong. I didn't have enough faith, or there was secret sin, or something. To realize I'm allowed to share the gospel in words, was so refreshing.

Jesus' apostles performed healings and that attested to their legitimacy as those hand picked by Him. Many times they did not heal. In Acts, the believers had to wait for Peter to come for Tabitha (Acts 9:36 on). Why couldn't they heal her themselves according to your belief? Why wasn't Paul healed of the thorn in his flesh? Why wasn't Timothy healed from his "frequent ailments"? Why did Epaphroditus almost die in the spreading of the Gospel? I used to believe everyone or almost everyone. I used to believe that most folks told the truth. That was before. I since learned that many tell stories. Even people that I emphatically believed in the past and especially in churches. More so the wild tales told are believed by the congregations year after year even without pictures, videos or documented proof. Anyways that is part of the reasons why and my other post are more reasons why. I have never read in the Bible where an evil spirit randomly attacks a person and leaving scratches or injuries on them, especially a Christian. Nor have I seen a person that this had happened too. Nobody, never mind a Christian. Furthermore, just as I would need to see before and after documentation that is legitimate of healings, so I would need proof that any injuries were not from physical sources. Now I understand in the Bible that the demon possessed man leaped on the sons of sceva. However, that was a demon possessed physical man; and not just a spirit causing physical injuries and especially to.a Christian. But I don't randomly believe any story, because anybody can say anything. And many if not most do. Physical people can have mental problems and scratch themselves and think a demon did it.

Simple logic tells us, that if we still struggle with sin, then we will struggle with sickness and disease also. Salvation is progressive. We are sealed in our spirit by the Holy Spirit when we are born again. We are progressively renewed in our minds by the Word of God. We will receive a new, glorified, sinless body when we are translated. Until then, we will suffer sickness, disease and persecution.

As to demon possession/oppression, there is not a single time in the entirety of Scripture that is recorded to have affected a believer. Jesus' healings were proof that He was who He said He was. "Commanded". Commanding and decreeing is not Scriptural. We are told to go to our Heavenly Father and ASK.

The screaming…ugh… You know, we hear a lot from these wolves. While I know this isn’t a channel for preaching, I wonder if it would be helpful to have a resource for coping with all of this or just some biblical encouragement specific to watching the corruption of the church. It’s sometimes isolating to watch these videos and know that the average churchgoer either isn’t aware of what’s happening or doesn’t find it personally relevant enough to talk about. Even though we know how it all ends, it’s really hard to see these wolves keep winning in the short term.
