42:13 .. in regards to being aware of potential abuse or other issues with a partner.. I’ve personally been thru the wringer and after many many years of therapy, I’ve been a peer counselor for years.. the first thing I explain to people, especially the young ones who don’t have the life experience, is to have a very simple evaluation.. most abuse starts out with the little backhanded comments and such.. the power moves and manipulation.. The process is this.. Regardless of the source, if that persons actions or words in any way make you say “oh, ow.. that hurts” on the inside.. be it a rude remark, an insult, anything.. if it makes you uncomfortable.. PAY ATTENTION.. This is the time to evaluate the entire relationship.. was this an isolated incident? Or, is it something that happens again? Think about it… Are you being over sensitive REALLY? Or.. were they THAT inconsiderate ? Every situation and relationship is different.. but “sticking it out” when someone is hurting you in any way, never works.. it never “gets better”… If you’re invested in this person and they do ANYTHING that is unpleasant for you, say something about it. Period. If they gaslight you, criticize you, or say they will do better, then don’t.. that is all the information you need.. It’s always better to cut it off the first time you see a red flag. The longer you wait, the worse it gets, and the harder it is TO cut it off.. It can be hard sometimes, but there IS help if you look, and the sooner you get them out of your life the better.

@@evilamongus2022 Ohhh.. that’s nice.. thanks.. A lot of us want to help if we can.. so I comment on DV cases a lot, so do many, many others in my shoes. Sometimes the comment section of a horrible crime video is the kindest and supportive place you’ll ever go.. it’s important that people know they’re not alone, there’s more people who can understand than anyone realizes is out there.. that also means there’s help.. This particular bit of advice is something I’ve shared in person at least 3 times in the last 2 weeks.. It’s hard to explain in writing, but the concept is basic, and simple for a reason.. there’s nothing complicated about someone hurting you. The key is to evaluate the circumstances honestly. Sometimes we ARE over sensitive.. but, if you approach someone with that hurt, and they don’t discuss it with you like they care.. that tells you something else entirely.. If there’s anything I can take from years of mistreatment and years of therapy, it’s that I can pass along solid advice.. plus, I’m very much a MOM 😬😬 I just HAVE to say something sometimes 😜lol

@ruththinkingoutside.707 Жыл бұрын
@@patedwards8844 .. that’s how I ended up being in that situation in the first place.. most times people will continue to struggle with self worth regardless.. ..the only thing that sometimes gets thru enough is that nobody “deserves” to be battered, and we intrinsically know that basic decency is not special treatment.. even though we personally have the self worth of a walnut, eventually, nobody enjoys being torn down every day.. lots of DV survivors post their stories in the comments section of YT crime videos.. with the hope that if the right person sees it, it will strike the right chord.. it’s reassuring to know that you aren’t alone, you should never feel ashamed & especially that you’re not crazy.. Everyone’s situation is different, I figured that enough aspects were the same that if I boiled it down to something this simple, it would help some people assess it.. my boys are 26 & 19, so I’ve had a LOT of teenagers cross my path in the last decade or so… for the younger ones, who haven’t had the experience to use for reference, putting it this simply is a broad way to help evaluate.. because it applies to male or female and most relationships, not just romantic ones.. All we can do is put it out there, and hope that if it helps anyone, it’s worth the effort 💕

I found it weird that they aquited them for the grievous bodily harm charge but found him guilty of kidnapping. Even if she did jump out of the car herself, its because she was kidnapped, what are you supposed to do? Just sit and be a victim? It really is common sense. Shame on the jury.

Shame on the criminal "criminal " justice system. Its "criminal"as it claims to be. As such, there is no justice served in criminal justice. The ones who are the cause of all of the crime , who influence and force folks into crime - Namely the civy lies govs (including the education system, entertainment system, financial system, religious systems, and criminal judicial systems) , are the ones truelly responsible for all of the crime. And its gonna be hell for them to pay.
@MusbCrazy80 Жыл бұрын
I agree but sadly that's how the legal system works. It's not the jury's fault it's the system in place and the guidance jury's are instructed to apply to in the decision making process. The worst case of this I've ever come across is the Casey Anthony case in Florida but by the same token you can probably find cases where this approach makes sense and helped inform taking this particular legal standing how ever crazy it seems to us in cases such as this.

Well the parents really did a bang up job raising that little bastard. My sons are 36 and 38 and you couldn't pay them to talk to me that way or to treat a female that way. My dad said how a male treats his mother is a good sign of how he'll treat women in general. And I've observed some males who treat their moms like 💩 and their girlfriend's or wives the same way. But theres no sense in a woman staying in that mess. I spent 10yrs being stupid and ill never do it again. Ive been married 24 yrs to a wonderful man and he also treats his mom like a queen too. So my dad was right. And he is good to my mom. And shes a difficult person. I dont know how he does it.

Honestly, the fact that Angel was as young as she was is almost a boon, in that her brain was still undergoing significant development. I think that's why she's made so much progress. I actually lost all vision in my right eye due to a brain injury when I was also 19, and now at 27, I can see it of both eyes again. It's quite distorted and hard to make out on the right side, but I can make out colors and when things move, so it's better than it was. Obviously, my brain injury wasn't nearly as severe as Angel's, but still. Had either of us been a decade older when we received our brain injuries, I don't think either Angel or I would have made as much progress as we have.

When I was 23, I'm 42 now. My bestfriend sister's boyfriend, beat her all the time. I swear it seemed like she always had black eyes and a busted lip. Her boyfriend just got out of prison for armed robbery, and he thought he was a "gangster". My bestfriend warned him not to hit her again. The police didn't do anything to help her, or did she help herself by pressing charges. One night he started hitting her and really beating the crap out of her. My friend shot him in the head with a shotgun. Now I definitely don't promote violence, but I'm not going to lie, I was proud he protected his sister. She probably would have ended up dead. My friend served 10 years for man slaughter. My friend was and still is not a fighter and is very passive. He told me when he seen him beating her in front of him, he just black out and only had one thing on his mind. Stopping him from hurting her forever. I know some won't agree, but please don't say anything bad about him. He served his time, and is a very productive person in our society. He also helps people that are going through domestic violence. Thank you for respecting him by not writing anything against him.

13:41 .. living with DV of any kind is wretched.. and sucks the light out of everything in life.. if you haven’t experienced it, it can be very hard to explain even close to what it’s like.. Walking on eggshells is a common analogy, but it’s more pervasive than just that.. it invades literally everything about you.. When lockdowns started, it was literally the first thing my mind went to.. the absolute unimaginable hellscape that some people’s lives were becoming.. ..from bad, to the deepest darkest levels of hell.. living with an abuser is hard enough, but to be forced to stay trapped inside with them, especially given the stress and anxiety of the beginning of lockdowns .. ..it broke my heart.. SO many people, especially children.. trapped like never before.. I was SO profoundly grateful that we’d extricated ourselves completely before everything shut down.. It hasn’t been a surprise to me at all that true crime content has regularly reported on domestic murders during lockdowns.. If you’re already living with a controlling overbearing abuser, the kind who are notorious for being regularly full of utterly irrational garbage.. then, a situation with unknown issues and an uncertain future, financial vulnerability, lack of supplies and conspiracy theories rampant..?? It’s terrifying to even consider it.. It can’t come as a surprise, the stories of people going off their rocker irrational and killing their so-called “loved ones”.. ..it was inevitable.. and absolutely horrendous… 😢

It’s a tough one to prove that whether he pushed or Mason pushed her out, however if you read the telltale signs and the way he speaks to women you can say there is no doubt that he is responsible. This monster getting just 12 years go to show how much of a joke our criminal justice system is, he’s still in the prime of his life and being released in a few years is ridiculous. My husband now is the only man I've ever felt safe with he is a Marine veteran and dv abuse victim. His ex almost killed him, and the help he sought never came because "men can't be victims". My hope is that every victim can get away to safety, and be able to live a life we all have a right to, a life that is safe.

As someone that has experienced being in an abusive relationship, my heart goes out to Angel. I hope she keeps defying the odds and gains more and more quality of life. Unfortunately, when you're stuck with someone like that, you're most at risk when you decide to leave them. I was lucky. My bf was forced to move back home, on the other side of the country, so I used that to my advantage to break up with him then. He still tried to make my life hell in other ways, for literal years, but he couldn't physically reach me. I still had to change my number, abandon all my social media accounts, email addresses, everything and start over, but that's nothing compared to what Angel went through.

We all watched this and I am not even going to comment for once because young thugs like this always get away with pathetic lenient sentences. It's taking years for the judicial system to finally start handing down sentences that fit the crime as they do in America. My heart really hurts for what her and her family have now had to go through.
@jasongibbs3713 Жыл бұрын
The sentences in America do not fit the crime. They are overkill, and American society continues to decline as a result. The callousness of the "justice" system has pervaded the hearts of the citizens. Dehumanization makes it easy for us to throw our fellow citizens away, as the system does. On top of that, it leaves you with far too many people who have been out of society, basically living like animals for far too long, thrown back on the streets. They don't readjust well after too long. It just leads to more danger and crime. Don't give in to emotions such as anger and vengeance, and destroy your own society like America has done

My original comment seems to have disappeared. So I'll change some of what I said in case my anger towards this disgusting human being breached community guidelines. She was worth more than the way he treated her. What he did to her I wouldn't do to my worst enemy. Yet he calls himself a protector. He should have been sentenced to life in prison. She is beautiful and intelligent and had her whole life ahead of her. He robbed her of that because he knew he didn't deserve her. Evil among us. I'm not surprised you were emotional making this. This almost brought me to tears. I'm sending healing thoughts to her and her family, hoping that they can all recover both physically and emotionally in time.

I feel that when a victim suffers such catastrophic injuries the prison sentence should be the same (or longer) as if death occurred. Because the monster INTENDED death for the victim and the only reason they survive is their own fortitude and inner strength. Why should the EVIL perp get rewarded because the victim SURVIVED? It absolutely infuriates me!

I've often heard you defend victims of domestic abuse. Educating people who make comments "Why don't they leave?" and such. Entanglement with abusers is a threat at any age. I was in my late thirties when I met and fell in love with a monster. I believed my age and life experience would make it easy to spot an abusive person. Not so. He emotionally and verbally abused me for years, threw objects at me, and tried to isolate me from family. The last straw was when he pulled me up from a chair by my neck. I left soon after. One red flag that stands out for me was that he was ALWAYS awkward and uncomfortable around my family and friends. He was fine around his people. My heart is broken for Angel and her family. I believe she will continue to improve and will fight to get justice for what that pathetic piece of crap did to her.

Be very careful when speaking negatively to the victim about the abuser. You can help create the us against the world. Also, it can be horrible to watch someone you care about be manipulated, controlled, abused so it's ok if you don't want to continue to watch. However, please, never try to force a choice. Let the person you know you care but you can't stay and watch. Make sure they know if they need you that you will be there. Holidays, birthday, whenever at least 3-4 times per year and upto once month, contact that person (text, email, whatever) THIS IS SO IMPORTANT bc the abuser will use the fact that no one contacts them as proof that no one will help. You may be frustrated bc they don't call back and that's ok. But they need AT LEAST ONE person that isn't controlled by the abuser. Quite often people stay bc they chased their friends and family away to the point that no one calls them anymore. It's hard to leave when you feel like you have nothing, you feel like you're nothing, and you feel like you have no one.

We had a case in the United States, I cannot think of what it is right now, but they were kidnapped, they escaped, & they dragged them back to the van again - - so they charged him twice for 2 separate kidnapping charges! I thought that was really clever by the prosecution to do that! Bc they were 2 separate incidents, even though they happened on the same day. Also, I’m confused why they couldn’t charge him w/ grievous bodily harm or attempted murder, assault…something!! EVEN IF she jumped, it was to escape her possible death! She jumped in the midst of- @ least-a kidnapping, that he created, so there’s zero reason why the jury shouldn’t found him GUILTY!!!

The pang of joy when hearing she stood up and spoke even a word again!!!....but what a tragic, undeserving fate for Angel and her parents....thanks for not mincing words and saying it as it is for that human fecal stain and his family.....Seriously, I usually consider those issues subjective, but that's not just a punchable face, that's a kickable face. Shamelessly wish at some point, in or out of prison, he falls upon a hardboiled thug, like the ones he tried to pathetically emulate, and I hope they take it personally what a slithering little worm and woman-abusing waste he is, and delivers such a beating he ends up just like he left Angel, and same goes for his brother - guess their loving mother will judge she has to stand by them in that case as well, as Angel's parents do. Thanks for the continued emphasis on domestic violence education, more than bringing the victims to light and educating the public, you're offering an important, maybe life-saving service. PS I am reminded of Mirto, a girl who was raped and beaten over the head with a rock when she went for a short walk while listening to music, on the beach of the island of Paros she and her mother were vacationing at....she's been living for ten years with 100% disability, needs constant care, her almost-killer (complex dirty story, that) supposedly got life, he's already petitioned for parole the previous year. She was 15, now she's 26. I do not think killers should get smaller sentences simply because they were unlucky or useless at killing. I also believe leaving their victims in such a state should bring upon extra punishment on its own.
