I was actually just thinking about Cobweb being John Pritchett yesterday. There was definitely a human spirit inside the cat. It felt like he was actively watching the events of the movie unfold. And maybe The Mother Witch follows Becca, Izzy and Cassie in hopes to mentor them before all chaos breaks loose. I still believe the “Alison is a secret Witch” theory from the first one; that leads me to believe that…maybe Becca is related to Alison in some way, and that’s how her powers were passed down. Which would also explain the odd sense of familiarity Winnie had with Becca. Or…this might be a bit of a stretch, but Becca could even be related to The Witch Mother.

I did initially think Mother Witch could be the devil. But I believe Mother Witch was just a witch from another coven, who had unknowingly cast the Magicae Maxima spell and lost her coven due to it, which is why she’s so against it and why her eyes glow like Winnie’s did when she cast the spell. But I don’t think she’s the Devil. That line in the original was Max reading off of the plaque when the house was a museum. The witch hunters and townspeople of Salem had probably passed down stories of the witches and how the Devil gave them that book of dark magic. It wouldn’t necessarily be possible for anyone to know that Winnie was given the book by the Devil, unless she spoke of it to them (which I doubt lol) or they were there (which I also doubt). I took that plaque and it’s information with a pinch of salt and even if intentional, easily retconned due to the above. It could also be possible that the Devil passed the book down to a potential witch, who then continued to pass the book down when they sense great potential for the dark arts. Just a theory though obviously lol

Also the house is still in Allison’s family and her daughter steals the key to impress her lesbian crush and because the new girl is actually a descendant of a 4th sanderson witch she accidentally helps exchange max Allison and Dani to hell for the sisters. The whole plot revolves around them trying to get the family back from hell before it’s permanent! It's also possible that Cobweb is another person that Gilbert turned into a cat. Since it seems like it took cat-Binx a while to learn how to talk as a cat. Maybe Cobweb hasn't found its voice yet. Also, as a magic shop owner, it's possible that Gilbert was able to obtain "fat from a hanged man" from fellow occultists with real magical ingredients. It is also a primary ingredient for things like a "hand of glory" from what I recall.

Book is evil, the spells within are evil, the fact he helped Winnie go to her sisters does not prove he turned good, he didn't like the spell in the first place, that's fewer witches to use his spells. So Gilbert letting the girls keep Book is just as evil as giving her the Candle in the first place, they are destined to be evil because that is in fact the only spells inside of Book. They have been throwing down gauntlets left and right signaling (imo) that they are sick and tired of Florida and China’s censorship BS. My honest opinion about hocus pocus 2 is that it could have been much better. It didn't have that magic the original had. Before watching the movie I was looking forward to listen to the witches' new songs since the original "I put a spell on you" was so good but I got disappointed 😞the new song is ok but it doesn't hold the magic 🪄 ipasou had. The visual effects barely improved from the original. The story could have been better. It was interesting at the beginning with the young witches but it got boring quick. At least for me. I think I'll keep watching the original every Halloween 🎃
