That deliverance movie was actually based on several incidents that happened to different folks in the Appalachian mnts. You don't go up there and mess with (or go on private property) many have home brew set ups, pot crops and of course the wild truffles that are worth thousands. (Not sure about now. But back then the truffles were considered some of the best in the world. ) 1 bag of good quality could net in the 10's to 100's of thousand dollars.

My mom and family say I live in the land of the deliverance because I live in a small mountain town in the Appalachian mtns lol but seriously the movie was made not far from where I live. The one with the banjo. Lol I thought the same thing except I knew this haunting wasn't as old as that movie lol

I feel that it gives more credence to her claim by staying out of the public eye after her ordeal. If it was a publicity stunt or something to that nature, I feel she would have continued "keeping it alive" for continued photo ops, book deals, etc. I agree with you, Cody, that it always needs to have a healthy dose of skepticism as well!

I remember sometime last year Amazon Prime had a documentary about the Ammon house called Demon House. That's the first time i heard about the story. The fact that people outside of the family experienced and actually saw the occurrences that were in the house made this very real. It's still on Amazon. It's really crazy.

Thanks for doing an update on this story Kody. There are so many questions, with so many possible answers. The Wake in the house: this was very common in the UK until quite recently, and I believe is still in practice in some areas of Ireland. In fact the origins of the Wake for anyone who doesn’t already know, was to sit with the deceased for three days to make sure they didn’t wake up! Thankfully we have better medically trained people who can tell the difference now. The salt on the altar: 75% on witches are Christian (majority Catholic), so it wouldn’t be a stretch for anyone seeking religious support from God to use salt on an altar. There are all those divergent religious like voodoo and santaria that combine different beliefs that do the same. They say that those who are closer to God are more likely to be tormented by demons. I wonder if their house was on a Ley Line. So many questions. Absolutely fascinated. Thank goodness they are all safe now and R.I.P. Armani. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

It's always a little strange for me to hear about people being shocked when they move in, and in the first few days, it gets flooded with flies, bees or wasps. Where I live, we generally accept it will happen. Once it gets cool, insects and their eggs go dormant fast. On the scattered warmer day, two or three may get in only to fall asleep or come in already catching zzz's in firewood. When you heat the home (especially something like a cottage or cabin) they'll wake up at once. It's freaky, and I can see people exaggerating if they're not used to it. It's because it's cold most of the year here so it happens frequently.

In the south, up until the mid 1900’s it was very normal to have your loved ones “wake” in your home. In the 1800’s the houses were built with a wide door to the outside in the parlor for moving the deceased in and out of the home. Ammonia is very common chemical used is window cleaners, leaves no streaks. I use a homemade window cleaning spray with ammonia, alcohol, and water. Works great!

Just FYI to anyone that has to deal with an evil spirit or demonic infestation. Don’t do a mix of pagan and Christian. If you are Christian then if you are using pagan practices it is stating that there is something more powerful than Christ. You need to be strong in your faith. I have been fighting an evil presence and it’s getting much better. I had scratches, got thrown against a wall and other stuff. Thankfully it’s not nearly as bad as others have dealt with. I never believed in this types of hauntings. I believed in god and the devil but not that they could hurt you physically. This situation has changed my life and perspective. If you are having problems get your house blessed, the Catholic Church has. The most experience and their guidance has been most helpful. Also Gregorian Chants work well to keep an area safe for sleeping.

Some of the things that are questioned in the beginning of your video that seem strange to you Cody are Traditional in 'Black Culture' in America. Things like the wake in the home, and the altar in the basement, House scrubbing with ammonia, burning candles and Sulfur, Oil and salt etc. have their roots in Hoodoo. Hoodoo is different than Voudun/Voodoo in that it leans more in the direction of a set of magickal practices than Religion in general. While much of the background started in the South, as Black folks moved North, they brought the traditions with them. Hoodoo is not only a 'Black thing; some famous practitioners have been White folks. The gas-leak theory does not stand in my mind because of all the burning candles and incenses which would have flared any gas that may have been leaking. Sulfur and a gum resin called asafoedita or nick named "Devils Dung' both produce very bad smells and the thought is much like using Reverse Bad Luck - like when folks use display of 13, snake eyes Dice, or Devil-Head images to reverse the symbols on display. I am in no way disparaging any of these practices, I'm familiar with them and the Traditions are powerful. I'm White but have studied much. All I'm suggesting is that Hoodoo and Catholic practices have no conflict and a long history of interaction. But most of these things are rooted in old Black Culture and White folks are mostly unaware of the Traditions, so they would not be recognized by others with no knowledge of these Old traditions which have always relied on secrecy to a greater or lesser degree. Zora Neal Hurston was an Anthropologist and a Southern Black Woman who wrote much of these things. "Tell My Horse"is a good book if you are interested. It is one of several by her. May Good Luck be upon You ~ B.

Hi, Kody! I enjoyed this follow up to your original video. I didn't know about the Netflix movie so it was also informative. I do have one comment on the wake or home funeral aspect you mentioned. While I think it is pretty uncommon nowadays, I believe it is legal in all U S. states to have a home funeral or wake as long as the body is embalmed or kept on ice if not embalmed (legally this qualifies as "refrigerated"). The cost of funerals is so expensive that families may opt for a home funeral if they cannot afford the cost otherwise. Or it might just be a personal or religious preference. I'm no professional - just someone interested in funerary stuff - so take that with a grain of salt. Also, congratulations on your book! 🎉

Great overview. It would be interesting to see what the neighbors around that house say, from what I've heard, there are some strange events going on after the house was demolished. I met the police officer, in passing at a local establishment who filed the report, and he's a legit good guy and a straight shooter, he wouldn't have filed a report for attention. I really don't think any of this was faked for attention, Latoya avoided Zak Baggins like the plague, you would think she would have not if she wanted attention, and I really think him tearing down the house contributed to its perpetual mystery and questions everyone has. To be honest with you, the Zak Baggins controversy got worse after this documentary as well as his behavior has become more erratic, which makes you wonder if this house had anything to do with it. Lastly, I do recall a local radio station doing a Halloween special asking people to call in with local paranormal encounters, and a few callers mentioned this house on Carolina in Gary. Supposedly, when it abandoned, people would venture out there and look into the basement and see things move around through the window. After this was reported, the windows were boarded up, and Zak's crew started to film, the home was torn down afterwards. Overall, great overview, I'm happy I found your channel.

I thought of your work as soon as that kid backed up the wall at the medical office! It's not that preachers don't believe in the demonic. They are not trained. In exercising. Catholics and monks use pegan ceremonies and holidays and rituals.

Demons apparently don't like the stench of sulfur any more than anyone else does. Why do you think God is going to use it to punish them? Also you can find references to tormenting demons with things that stink in the Lesser key of Solomon.

Generally when it comes to gas leaks you would expect to find a lot of dead insects. Although the gas would have to be pretty concentrated in order to cause that. Doesn't really explain how it happened in winter that far north. Its too bad they didnt save some for a scientist to examine.

What always gets me? I have always considered a level of some skepticism to be Pretty Normal and Healthy(not being super gullible and believing Everything you hear/see 💯 ) but..hardcore absolute skeptics? I always feel ..a sense of "overcompensating" or..the thought that there could Possibly be some truth to these things~ being so threatening to them..idk how to articulate it any better..i think it's basically impossible to say ABSOLUTELY no..or ABSOLUTELY yes. (& from my personal experience, from childhood on..i KNOW for myself..yes there definitely Is good and evil ..and yes..paranormal things do happen..however As to WHY..i think SOME could possibly be aspects of science/physics etc that we do not understand completely. Just commenting to show some support.. ( 10:54 commenting as i listen, Ive never heard of sulfur burning. And i grew up in a coven. Have been around a lot of people into all sorts of things..and have read esoteric/occult books my entire life. )

I grew up in a very religious household. I’m not a practicing Catholic as my parents were but I am a devoted Catholic. I fear people most in life not the non living. Hey friend. Another fantastic video as usual. Truly makes my day when you drop new ones. Keep it up! Anyways, got a quick question and thought maybe you could offer some advice. This might not be the best place to obtain the information I'm looking for but I respect your opinions and find you knowledgeable regarding this topic so I'm going to ask you first and go from there...ok so I was a very devout Christian up until 18 years old and then I began to question many things in the world and find my faith lacking in these aspects. I won't go into detail about why or anything like that. Point being I have since then questioned God and actually all religious beliefs, yet still on the fence regarding what truly exists to explain the mysteries experienced all over the world. That being said, I do think there are unexplainable phenomena that take place and humans aren't able to comprehend these concepts or just don't realize or possess the mental capacity yet that is needed to understand. On that topic, I do believe in spirits and evil and maybe otherworldly or multidimensional aspects and also I agree that you have to have good with the bad. That's just nature and a way to balance it all. If you can't tell I'm still struggling to know what I believe..I'm a facts kinda girl. I like solid proof and faith requires a trust in the complete lack of it so that is a big factor in my outlook. I have begun to consider the fact that there is something spiritual or at least not from this earthly plane that is residing or visiting my house. I can't say for certain what it is but ive felt something for months now and last night I had an experience with a light being fiddled with. I was taking a shower in the dark, had a bad migraine, and while in there, my plug in nightlight in the bathroom began to dim and brighten, dim and brighten.. multiple times. I opened the shower door and saw the little dial on the top of the light visibly rotating, adjusting the brightness of the light. Needless to say I quickly jumped out of my shower and flipped the big lights on and unplugged the nightlight. Now, I don't feel any threat of evil or sinister emotions or anything like that. Just have felt different, more off for a few months in the house. Definitely has impacted my emotions and moods more than once though I hesitate to associate and/or place all the blame on it. My question is if I sage and do the other one you mentioned myself, is there any risk of negative outcomes associated with it? Can I make things worse? Is there something special I have to do while saging or things I have to say? Remember I'm not religious so I would be a fraud by reciting any Christian gospels or hymns or scriptures. Any advice you might have is greatly appreciated. You can even tell me to go seek advice elsewhere if you don't feel comfortable giving it. Just thought I'd start here with someone I trust.

Another great video, thank you! Regards the movie "The Deliverance", I personally thought it was pretty flat. I was pretty familiar with the story it is (loosely) based off of and I feel THAT story should have lent itself to a much scarier movie than what they ended up putting out. It was good enough I guess for me to finish but would not recommend or watch again.

I know there’s some details that you want to add but I’m noticing a lot of your vids are re-releases of videos you’ve already made but just a just-audio version or something. There’s so many other stories you haven’t explored with us, like your personal haunting story, that was awesome, you don’t need to re-upload the same stories you already covered just to upload every week. I’d prefer you do new content even if it’s not weekly. But that’s just how I feel, not trying to send any hate, I love your channel.

Perhaps the escalation of activity manifested in the kids can be chalked up to combining pagan and Christian practices and having it backfire. One can’t try to mingle these practices together and expect a positive result.

A friend of mine from Indiana told me about this BEFORE it hit KZbin, before the movie was made. As a Christian, it amazes me how some Christians can doubt Demons exist. They go as far as even believing in Jesus, which is good, but nothing else. What do y'all think we are fighting against, I understand the non believers to an extent, everything is explainable in their mind, but those of us that have supposedly been informed on spiritual matters are in doubt? Y'all need to literally wake the hell up.
