Jyoti Srelvan, the crucifixion of Jesus affected His Spirit soul and body. His soul. In the garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus was so distressed that He sweat blood. I taught Sunday School this past Sunday (Feb. 28, 2021) from Mark 15 and cried when I was finish. I was studying the night before and was plunged into emotional concern and worship when I thought about the fact that they spat on him (about 600 men). I preached that same Sunday from the same passage along with its equivalent in John 19, and took time to describe scourging to the believers. Having studied Mark 15 the night before I became convicted even more of the extent of the 'passion' of Christ. So after pouring into the people the truth about the scourging especially (and other portions of his passion) that Sunday afternoon, I returned to my seat and wept bitterly yet worshipping, for I was overwhelmed by the thought of the burden of the consequence of my sins on Christ. What anguish the Lord went through in order to satisfy the wrath of God for my sins. I am empowered to be a better Christian because I am more convicted by the passion of Christ. God bless you believers.

According to St. Faustina’s visions, there were 4 Roman soldiers who took turns lashing Him. Pieces of flesh were falling off and His bones were visible. It is good for us to reflect on His suffering and to show appreciation for His ultimate sacrifice, His ultimate gift to us to redeem us. So that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend.

There is an account by one visionary of the scourging. She said the post was tall and Jesus was tied to the top by the hands which left him stretched and almost suspended off the ground. Then his ankles were tied at the bottom. Her account states he was scourged by two soldiers first with canes, then by another two with thorny sticks and finally by another two soldiers with Flagrams. Each set of soldiers spent fifteen minutes at their posts of punishment and then the next two soldiers took over. This was to ensure that each blow was as severe as the first and as the soldiers tired after 50 lashes they were replaced with a fresh pair with an upward increasing whip form ending with the Flagram. She said the whole scourging lasted around 45 minutes. Jesus also told a saint that he received 150 lashes, but according to this visionary it was three different types of whips, the worst being the last and that when they had scourged Jesus from top to bottom on his back they flipped Him over and continued on his front. I think The Shroud of Turin verifies the front and back scourging as she stated. So it appears as you said it was of the most severe kind and would probably kill any normal human by its severity alone.

God‘s word is true for our salvation in our healing, but they say that same old thing God made doctors With talent well I haven’t met any yet. I think people think they’re born again Christians and they’re not. They just didn’t want to go to hell because you have to have faith to believe this way and I have all the faith in the world that I’m gonna be just fine just like every other time, but I have to stop being around people that I mean it literally starts making me feel like evil is around me when they say that to me and they get angry instead of honoring what Jesus did for us they get angry because they’re not getting held because they don’t believe it I don’t know I’ll never understand people but you have to read the Bible and you have to study. God word, and I had to study some Greek and Hebrew to understand a lot of things but I wanted to know the truth and I’m glad you made this video cause I’m sending it to the girl today, who I thought was a good Christian that really made me feel like giving up hope almost tell Jesus reminded me that he’s with me always and everything’s gonna be all right. This was known as “the perpetual sacrifice.” When were they done? 9am and 3pm. Jesus was crucified with the first sacrifice, at 9am. He dies at the second sacrifice, at 3pm. He fulfils them both!

Thank you so much for this video. I have ordered your book. I had no idea what Jesus went through. I had always imagined that the cross itself was the main punishment, but it is clear that the scouring and torture were the worst parts and the cross was more of a final indignity where His mutilated body was nailed. I was surprised that He was naked at the time of His scouring. All of the material I have seen of his torture has him at least wearing a loin cloth. Even Mel Gibson gives Jesus the dignity of his underwear. I suppose we shall to depict him as naked in the future. In my church we are having a stained glass window prepared in Europe. The window will depict the passion. I have just got time to change the design. I have asked that they watch this video so that they are clear that they depict his torture naked and in full so that our congregation can see what He went through for us.
@jojonesjojo89193 жыл бұрын
To my brothers and sisters in Christ, how graphic should our stained glass window be? I have actually changed our European order to change the window from the late medieval style to a modern, but still beautiful style, which allows for much better definition and picture quality. This will allow a far more graphic and realistic depiction of His suffering. As a bonus, the modern style is a actually much cheaper, so we could actually design and build three windows. What should the three designs be? What do you think?
@jojonesjojo89193 жыл бұрын
To be clear, I am not asking for monetary donations to our church to build these windows. Although our congregation is only two hundred or so strong, we are blessed in that quite a few of our older members who passed recently left so much to our church. Whilst we don't need money we would be delighted to receive ideas on our three windows. If you are in the Texas panhandle region and are an artist we could even pay for you to submit ideas for the windows and help us in coordinating with the window makers. It would be especially helpful if you could speak Italian.

The Shroud of Turin scientists counted over a thousand lashes on the body of the shroud and stated that no man could survive this. Saint Catherine Emmerich who Jesus took to witness His Passion, said that she saw an angel descend from Heaven with a cup of something which bubbled like sherbet and gave it to Jesus to drink. Of course this was invisible invisible to everyone else. I've always thought it was sent by His Father so that Jesus could survive the scourging and finish His mission. She said satan entered the scourgers and made them unbelievably vicious. After one scourger wore himself out, they would send out another to carry on. I hope you received the picture I sent you. If this indeed was what the Roman scourging was like, I don't understand how any unfortunate victim of the monstrous Roman cruelty could stay alive and make it to the cross. Apart from the horrible pain and the shock, continuous excessive bleeding would cause death in just a few minutes. It seems impossible that after this treatment anyone (barely alive if not dead yet) could also be made to stand of his feet and carry his cross - or a part of it - to the crucifixion site outside the city.

Pialet's wife warned him not to have anything to do with convicting Christ. Pialet was worried about being stripped of his power. In the end, he lost it all anyway. His guilt even led Pialet to commit suicide. What a lost man!

And yet Matthew 15:44, Pilate was surprised that Jesus had already died on the cross after beating him to the point of death before crucifixion.

Ummm well that’s why he didn’t last long. Physical beating by the Jews, sleepless night, physical beating by the Romans.

When these verses are actually put into context they talk about healing of of the slavery of our sinfulness. To say that Christ died just so you can be healthy completely slanders the work of Christ. In Isaiah 53:5, "transgressions" and "iniquities" denote sin and the terrible disobedience to the Holy Living God. It is only because of Christ that He has "bought us peace" with God. 1 Peter 2:24 refers directly to Isaiah 53:5. Both verses are speaking of the same thing. His death was to bring us the righteousness we never had and never will have on our own. Repent and trust in Christ for the forgiveness of sins.

So, IF in fact not merely skin, but muscle from the shoulders to the ankles was “shredded”, “torn to pieces” by the scourging, HOW do you suppose Jesus was able to stand up after? If his thighs, calves, back was torn to pieces down into the muscles, HOW could He stand up after such? Let alone walk? Or carry a cross? Be it the cross beam, or the whole thing? Something here does not add up. EITHER the scourging was NOT as severe as Renner describes. Or, other forces are at work here. Because it is simply NOT physically possible to stand up, walk and carry a heavy object after the muscles themselves from the shoulders to the ankles have been so severely lacerated and torn apart. This is NOT humanly possible! So, IF true, then something OTHER than merely human natural force enabled Jesus to endure all this and still walk afterwards.

It's possible that God kept him conscious through pain that would normally kill someone. Jesus also refused to drink the analgesic mix of wine and Myrrh before the scourging.

We can't be physically healed by believing on Jesus' physical beating. This scouring was part of his suffering. I have not seen this healing happen yet. Now believing on christ sacrifice and confessing our sins we will be healed as in have eternal life with him without pain sorrow or death. He should take into consideration how he's wording this specific scripture. He phrased it the same way twice already

39 strokes X 9 tails = 351 marks on his body. Horrible is a great understatement.
