Mr George Rampersad, I have admired your work over the years and this is one Monumental song that you have done. I should inform you that Dr Satnarine Balkaransingh has included a chapter on this sordid period of our history in his soon-to-be published book on Hosay. I have worked with him on this book and I know the details of the massacre. It is very good that you have brought into the eyes and ears of the general public in Trinidad and Tobago! Thank you!

George! Your offering taught me more about the Hosay Massacre than any account I have ever read. This was an A-1 composition!! It is a damm shame that there is no major commemoration for this tragic historical event...meanwhile mankind can't wait for the next' Hosay to go and chuck dey waist eh! ☹

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. I guess it is not something the authorities want "advertised" in our history books. You are right that important events that should be commemorated from a historical point of view is turning into - as you so correctly put it - "chuck yuh waist".

Amongst those who felt the wrath of the white man that day were my ancestors my blood line so I grieve with them . I didn't hear of it either - until I started to dig into what the government calls the "Hosay Riots" and found out that it was not a riot at all, but a massacre. As I said in the song, it was (and still is) excuded from Trinidad history books. Both the former British Colonial Government and the post-independence governments don't want people to know how the police have been used to oppress the people.
