I will tell anybody from first hand experience, anybody who wants to play Boogie Woogie but tried and found it nearly impossible (like it was for me before I had access to Terry Miles tutorials), Terry Miles tutorials on Boogie Woogie will get you to play Boogie Woogie piano even if you are a noob. Within a week of viewing his tutorials I am getting the right and left hand synced together and it wouldn’t have been possible in this short time frame if I never found Terry Miles on KZbin. His tutorials leave no stone unturned and you don’t need to slow down the playback speed. He walks you through it and makes it so simple to understand. I am one happy Patron.

About 40 yrs ago I had a friend who played keyboards that had gone to a music store in a mall to look for a new keyboard. I was shopping & heard a song that he had written being played & knew instantly who it was. I left that store & went to where he was & by the time I got to the music store there was a whole crowd in the atrium & store entrance. I walked on in & asked Jim to play another song he had written, which he did. Unknown to both of us there was a well known Nashville music producer that was also in the mall & Jim sold him some of the songs he had written, one of the songs was my favorite. That instrumental song was used as a sound track in a movie.

Young and old gathered and see the wide ethnicities that melted into one. You gotta love it. Reminded me of my dad. My dad could play every instrument in the world, he never took a lesson in his life. We would go restaurant,. When the piano player took a break my dad would just walk up and take over, He got the place rocking by always starting out with boogie woggie. Then He would requests. If he didn't know the song he asked people to whistle it or humm it. Then he would play . .. When the piano player came back people generally wanted dad to keep playing instead. One night while on a river boat in St Louis MO. IN 1965 or 66 Dad played banjo when the band took a break. the band cheered him on. When they came back, he ended up playing the piano, guitar, banjo, sax and drums with the band. It was awesome.... He was Awesome. As good as the best,.around. ,. The memory is great. I wish my kids could have seen him in his glory. ( at the time I was a teenager,. The oldest of 9 kids, so there were no grand kids --- YET) When we would these places ,We always got invited back by the owners or managers.

Dave, what was your dad's first name, and are you a St. Louisan? My friend from high school, at the ripe old age of 16, was a piano player on the river boat that docked down by the arch, this was in that same time frame that you mentioned, 1965. He was a real talent, and I could listen to him play all night if I got the chance, and he could play by ear, too. His name is John Gazzoli. (sp?)

@@davejenn6051 Right, the Robert E Lee. And John had the piano outside on the deck, so it must've been a week end summer job. He was really good. He was a year older than me, but we went to a small private high school, so everybody knew each other, and our families belonged to the same country club, too, where I would get to hear him play piano in the lounge there, as well. And, come to think of it, your name kind of rings a bell, too. At least your last name does, as it's not all that common. I wouldn't be surprised if we'd met, sometime back then. wishing the parents of the children would not have stopped them jumping and dashing to the boogie woogie beat. Who could fail the uncontrolled need to move with such joy. Yet each time a parent stopped that child or made them get back in line, the sheer joy left their faces. Let your children be such and keep that look of joy on their faces for as long as possible. Thanks, Mr. Miles from Canada.

We had a visitor at my mother in law's house years ago that played the piano very much like that. That piano never saw that much action before or since.

Wow, what an amazingly talented man, when I was a kid of about 8 years old I had piano lessons until I was 16, I was good.... now I'm 75 and struggle to play chopsticks! Terry you are a star, thank you for the great music. I hope you're avoiding the Corona virus. Kind regards from New Zealand. Ray

If you notice, the little girl does depress the key, and at that point the Dad moves her back, I think he was right at that moment. It looks to me, reading the body language and facial expressions, that the girl is full of spirit, mischief and shows elements of difience too - 'kid normal'. Too many parents just let their kids run amuck....... Enjoyed the video, but worry for Terry doing too much head banging, can't be good for his brain, in the long term. peace.

I was sad to see the dad yank her away. A little tug at her shoulder would have been sufficient. I hope she’ll be interested still in piano and to pursue it herself.

@@anthonytaylor9232 - I noticed right away when she depressed the key, and thought "That little girl is going to ruin the moment." I was glad to see her dad pull her back - from the look on her face, you could tell that she was not happy about being disciplined, but Dad insisted even when she tried to shake off his hand from her shoulder.

Sally Johansson The man was playing the piano, not the little girl and she needed to be pulled back and learn not to interfere with people by getting up into their personal space.

This brings a smile to my face, back in the 70's, as three college students we went to a bar in Georgetown Mn in the middle of a snowstorm. My buddy spotted an old piano in the corner of the bar and started to hammer out rag time. The barkeep and his wife kept buying us drinks to keep us from leaving...lol. What a fun nite was had!
