As a person who gets instant migraines from perfumes and fragrances, I'm certainly not a fan of scented anything, so I'm happy the Monteverde Sweet Life inks are unscented. They look lovely!

So I am not sure if I love the Monteverde sweet life inks, they seem to glob up at on the nib when I don't use the pen for a few days. Great colors and nice saturation.

Which inks have you tried? I know orange/brown inks tend to crust up, so I've noticed that with both Pumpkin Cake and Mango Mousse, but I suppose that comes with the territory. Haven't had the same experience across the other inks though! - Colin

Yeah the monteverde chocolate pudding has been my biggest complaint so far. When it dries it looks like a mix of green yellow brown not a chocolate pudding brown, and that was my first try at a brown ink which i kinda regret choosing... I was pretty diasppointed in that one but the Iced Cookie was very pretty, its super close to Diamine Eau De Nil.

Just got my first fountain pen a few days ago, a TWSBI Eco with the set of 1791 TWSBI ink, and I could look at those frosted glass bottles all day, they are gorgeous

I love the TWSBI inks! So good in my pens, such good packaging. The purple is a go-to ink for my planner because it still looks great in an EF line.

They were lower profile, but for me a highlight of the year in ink was Monteverde adding Malachite and Tanzanite to the Gemstones line. They're fantastic colors.

The Monteverde Noir series is atop my list of favourites for 2019. Sadly, Monteverde still does not, for the most part, make great pens. I have five, only two of which I consider living up to expectations. But Monteverde inks are G.R.E.A.T.

Hopefully with the new JoWo nibs, the Monteverde pens will finally close the gap on their inks. I agree, the Monteverde inks are some of the best around. - Colin

The Goulet Pen Company ...Ha, glad but not surprised that you’re on the same page regarding the Monteverde inks. I have bought a dozen of their inks this year (mainly the Noir ones) and they are all round some of the most attractive, reliable (‘well-behaved’) and suited for all situations and writing purposes inks that I have bought and enjoyed in the past 2-3 years. Inks this great at such reasonable prices is just too good to resist. The Copper Noir was the last one I bought a week before Christmas. Just WOW! Jowo nibs bore me somewhat today. But they could conceivably rescue Monteverde fountain pens from the frustrating unreliability they are infamous for. I have similar feelings for Conklin pens; they are so attractive and tempting but their woefully hit & miss nibs have burned my dollars and feelings far too often already.

3D Maker Kid ...I want a nice new green ink for my terrific Triple Tail. So, I’ll look up Yosemite and see if it appeals to me. That said, I certainly prefer the Noir series to the Sweet Life colours of the Monteverde line. Which is saying a lot because many of the Sweet Life ones are very cool.

Honestly I love all the colors in the twisbi set. I dont own a lotnofninks, so I think it's a good variety. I've been slfsngirling over the iroshizuku seven gods inks since they came out.

My favorite ink this year is super5 waterproof ink. Which is super waterproof and dry really fast. Don't know what kind of alchemical magic they used to make it but it got me to abandon catfish noodler's ink that I've been using for years.

When you handle a piece of paper with ink often, it tends to smudge out and get on the hands, especially when you have wet/sweaty hands. Is there a way to prevent that? Do "waterproof" inks work or is spray varnish (or similar) a better option? I want to put some tables and lists at the end of my notebook and I would like for them to survive a while.

Hm, good question. Waterproof inks will definitely help and letting them full dry before touching should also help.

let's be honest, 2019 was a crap year for ink. The golden age of ink will probably be the period between Lamy's Deep Violet and Petrol offerings and Pelikan's Edelstein Smoky Quartz.
