Today I literally rant about all the dumb things you probably think are true because misinformation travels fast. Well let me enlighten you!
This Video Is Sponsored By ZINFF!
Use Code ASHLEY for 50% off frames and 20% off lenses!!!
Aphrodite Frame (my favorite):
www.zinff.com/...
Hera Frame:
www.zinff.com/...
More Glasses:
www.zinff.com/...
I always wanted to try buying lenses online but I never pulled the trigger because I'm a shop instore kind of gal. But ZINFF made it so easy, and the price of the lenses are so low in comparison to competitors, personally
I will be getting my glasses from here from now on in the future. And no, this is not a paid sponsor, so I am not being paid to say that. I love my Aphrodite glasses and i definitely wanna get a pair in a different color!

YAAAAAAS thank you for making this!!! I'm so damn tired of the fake shit people preach with no regard for finding out if it's actually true. Like, yes, my north-facing windows are in fact perfectly good for my plants because the light isn't being blocked by other buildings or fences or trees or whatever! No, buying a few houseplants isn't going to purify the covid out of your air. No, neem isn't a damn cure for everything. arrgghhhhh

I REALLY like the way you pointed out that choosing a plant that is going to match with your personal habits of watering is super important! Find plants that will like what you are going to do to them! Trying to alter our own behavior to suit the plant usually only works short term.....in MY experience anyway.

I think a lot depends on the conditions of your home and where in the world you live. My home is a little cold and gets very little good light this time of year, so I wouldn't think of watering my cacti unless they looked very dry.

I’ve had a golden pothos for years and it was looking so amazing at the end if the summer. So naturally I noticed it and watered it more... and then with the lack of heat and the leaves covering the soil it suddenly started dying of root rot... yeah.

So many people tell me "I killed my cactus!" and when I ask what they did with water, and they say "I only gave it like a mist of water every couple of weeks"... 🤦🏼‍♀️ Yep that's where they went wrong. You need to water your cacti and succulents infrequently but DEEPLY or you're just making the body damp (increasing your chance of rot) and your not giving the roots anything :/ (also I have killed a snake plant and a few pothos before lmao)

I am a highly experienced succulent and cacti collector who has just started to get into house plants, when watering succulents and cacti please never ever only give them a teaspoon of water, under no circumstance is that ever the thing to do, always use the soak and dry method when watering them, don’t water until they are dry as a bone, like seriously dry, however when watering be sure to water throughly and completely the water should run out of the drainage holes at the bottom of the pot, all the soil should be soaked….hence the soak and dry method.

*some plants can clonally propagate from leaf and petiole tissue **there are many different types of variegation and some definitely are affected by light, my ctenanthe lubbersiana for example loses its variegation when it grows stems in a dark corner, this variegation can be restored by giving the plant ample light

Light will maintain the variegation. Low light will cause the plant to revert. But this is for plants like the albo monstera. But for the PPP you can get variegation back by providing more light. They need light. It really depends on the light. I think she was referring only to the monstera in this case but doesn't apply to all.
@Hellothisbemychannel

@PlantingAshley
@PlantingAshley 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! So, you need light to maintain variegation but if you have a plant thats reverted/reverting providing your plant with higher light will not cause the var to magically come back because according to the master gardening program there is no positive correlation to light and variegation, only a negative one. If u give ur plant, any plant, even out door variegated bushes, less light it can cause them to revert because theyre lacking enough photosynthesis to grow. However, giving a plant more light will not cause variegation to come back bc more light will only encourage faster growth. The master gardening program recommends pruning plants back to the last known spot of variegation to bring it back. And no its not for just albos- scientifically light does not cause variegation nor can it bring back var on a reverted plant. The creators who tout this are listing long believed myth about variegation but its not completely true. Hope this helps!
@PlantingAshley
@PlantingAshley 3 жыл бұрын
No actually its all plants. I forgot to add the link sorry but its all in the master gardening program. Light does not bring back variegation in any reverted plant but pruning does, but you need enuff light to maintain variegation so your plnt wont revert :)

Wellll...a lot of plants won't grow without a node, but some can. An African violet leaf will grow a new little plantlet. Same with begonias. I think peperomia can also be grown from a petiole, but don't quote me on that. Maybe you were specifically thinking of aroids and hoya.

Now i have a few questions/additions: First: What is a big house plant? I have a big Banana but also a big Maracuja (trailing). Is ja trailing plant called big? I think not you need a big plant but a plant with much foliage. A big stem will NOT purifie your air... Second: Variegation and light. I have a little PPP and the existing variegation was going to be much more pink when it was gping at the window. Additional the variegation on the stem comes unconsitently. Now i have more than the beginning when i got it. So i think it depends on the plant itself. I dont know if you said that but i havent understood it like that. I´m from germany and you are speaking so fast ^^". regards

Neem oil is a natural pesticide. It does help alot killing and removing pest but not all. It needs a combination of other treatments to remove if it's a huge invasion of pest. But if you spray and treat as soon as it gets home with neem oil it helps. So yes, is a pesticide but is softer since is natural and not as harsh as bonide. Bonide is awesome for mixing in soil and for heavy infestations.
