You are not alone but as a mom with severe adhd and anxiety as well as depression and had postpartum depression with all 5, I know that feeling is so empty. A proper latch will never hurt. I had the latch rejection disorder with my first bc no one helped me and I was in pain and I was scared I might actually throw her when I nursed. We made it to 3mo before I broke down and supplemented and made it to 6mo. But it really did get so much easier but! With my 4 boys, I had help getting them to latch as soon after birth as humanly possible and continued to get help and I will say it was still really hard the first few weeks , especially having all preemies, it became so easy I didn’t have to help them and I was able to nurse them in my labor lying down and still have my hands to use! 🤣 I’m really proud of you for seeing a lactation counselor!!!! Don’t hesitate to find an IBCLC. They basically have a masters degree in breastfeeding. WIC always has one! Keep doing what works for you. I just want you to remember that him even getting one feeding at the breast gives you both so many lifelong benefits! It sounds like your counselor is my kind of gal!!! And you just got 3oz??? Yay!!!!!!!!

I have a phalaenopsis orchid, it was a gift to my mother's before she passed. I am so damn determined to keep it alive. The new leaves are coming in and some aerial roots, but hasn't flowered* since she received them. They are tough!

I'm convinced that many people are giving up their plant collections now that everyone is back to work. That is a huge reason why the plant prices have plummeted so drastically. I get that ugly orange 🍊 Princess is on your "hate" list because it's on mine too. Before the pandemic, I purchased a large Dragon tail for $10.00 @ Walmart along with so many more. There are some people out there who made so much money 💰 off the Coronavirus and not just the plant market. I do admit that I have also got kinda caught up with the obsession for certain plants but the most I have ever spent on one single plant was $99.00 for a very large Philodendron gloriosum. BTW, I just subscribed and liked. I love the honesty. We need to realize that this society is way too sensitive and "Plants" are sometimes 🥗 salad. Happy Birthday.

Very interesting. This is very similar to the coral hobby during the Indo/Hawaii shutdowns and what we still see with introduction of new morphs/species (prices spike, then rapidly depreciate). Profits are not a given. Plants may die or not reproduce/culture well. Even if prices remained stable (i.e., high), there has to be a buyer willing to pay the exhorbant cost for the seller to recoup buy-in. Best practice is to pay only what you're willing to lose.

Having worked retail once upon a time, if a sales associate refuses to give a refund, even store credit, always say you require a manager speak with you. If the manager refuses the refund, state that you intend to send a complaint letter (not an email) to their corporate office. And as a point of honor and you have the time (and your city allows it) make yourself a protest sign and carry it on public property. I have seen that work where all else has failed. Also FYI if you pay for something with a twenty and they claim it was only a ten, you can require that they count their drawer! This happened to me once, boy was that sales associate pissed when she had to count her drawer and it turned out that I had indeed paid with a twenty. I could have made her apologize, but it would have been a fake apology, so I didn't bother.

I got my baby ring of fire fron my local nursery two month ago for $14.99. She has given me two new leaves and is growing nicely. Glad I didn't buy it from a big box store during that time period.

I started collecting plants last fall. I live in a small place. I have about 60 plants now. But now I feel I don’t want anymore. I’ve reached my saturation point. But there are a few that I just don’t enjoy. I think I will give them away and replace them with ones that I like.
