Awesome! And thank you for not messing about with the content & wrecking our viewing enjoyment! Very impressive, Jason certainly built an impressive home with a lovely view of The Bay...

Oh my God! I love this series! I watch it for hours as I fold laundry at the hotel where I'm employed as a driver/houseman.

Really nice & unbelievable that this was done under £100K. One of the most successful episodes of this show.

This is one of the best episodes of the three seasons, and one of the very few that actually come in on or under budget.

The store they visited in Copenhagen was Roxxi Classics, plenty of spartan furniture, and some light fittings too. The prices are astronomical, no real bargains to be had in my opinion. If you really want classic Danish design head to the many charity shops or second hand markets because the prices there much lower.

Wish I could build a house on such a fantastic location with that amount of attention to detail. I'm not a D IY myself - although I could be with some help - but what drives me to despair is often trying to explain my vision to the workers I hire and they answer it can't be done because they don't have the expertise or they can't be bothered or they tell me it will cost 3 times what I can afford to pay. My plan is to take DIY lessons and simply do it myself. I just wish I knew an architect like Piers in Belgium because I am totally unimpressed with newly built houses in Belgium where I live. I spend part of my life in Sweden and therefore know firsthand that it is possible to build Scandinavian style inspired houses on a tight budget. I am a huge fan of this program. Wish they would broadcast it in Belgium as well where the typical house is a small narrow dark corridor. Thanks for all the tips and tricks. // M

Marijke, If builders don't comply or recognize your vision in building your future dream home. Just hit them over the head with a sledge hammer, they'll soon get on board with what you want, and with discount. You'll find this method works wonders.

Wow! I am so inspired by this couple- practical and creative. Most people think those two abilities can't go together but looks like they can! Jason did a smashing job. I want to know if he took this up as a career.

The site of the home, was a once in a lifetime, under a lucky star, with a fairy godmother who loves you find 💯 AND Jason was the man for the job 🙌🏾💯💯💯👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 I hate to tell everyone, that was not NOT a 100k house, NO MAME, you forgot Jason's salary: A labourer is worth his hire. Minimum 100k per year PLUS workman's comp 100k, I think Piers's initial budget of 400k is more like the real number here people 😄 😀 😳 so SAVE UP 😀 😄 😉 Cheers to the happy couple may you have many happy years here. 🥂🍾

€100K but 3+ years of time that's not included. Add in what he could have earned over those 3 years and it's a £300+K build in reality. Also add in the extra money they had to spend to rent two places to live... Walking up and down those stairs with groceries and whatever would drive me nuts.
@thehungrygoldfish6 ай бұрын
Still considerably cheaper than buying a readymade home.

Wow, under $100 K. Amazing. Just shows what perfectionism can do! Great perseverance from Jason - and flexibility too. Although I don't like these modern homes (more of a Gothic person myself), it still works. The plywood couch looks odd though.

I'm surprised that driving to work was cheaper than the train! And why did they build a home a 4 hour drive away from where their business is? Doesn't seem practical.

IMO it's example of the another problem with building an own house - failure with location. Two rather senior people have come up with their dream home on a large hill without access road. Only a narrow path plus hundreds of stairs lead to their home !!! What about everyday shopping, deliveries of larger things? Already they are too old to climb stairs a few times per day, what will be in the future? Total carelessness and impracticality. Experts should also pay attention to location "availability"
@polyannamoonbeam5 жыл бұрын
nice ...the island set up is not ideal..V narrow area . I would have built up cabinetry at ends to ceiling for storage not to bend down all the time. oven so far from breakfast area and fridge.hmmm. finishes on sink area and window are beautiful floor too .

But those have managed to twist the very good ideas a bit to the cheap side. The light is to much and to coloured. The cussions on the sofa...😐.... the much too white rest of the house. The wall paper in the master.... But they are happy...and so it's ok.

Just wondering, I'am writing from Canada are there any mosquitoes or flies in Britain. Because here you would always have a screen door on the outside than the glass door?
@skullsaintdead6 жыл бұрын
Good question, I'm sure they do. We pretty much always have them in Oz too. I suppose the aesthetic of the building would be compromised if a fly wire door was installed.
@lilylebowsky59085 жыл бұрын
No, not often in the UK. We are not accustomed to hot weather only chilly rainy ones. So if mosquitoes do occur, we just moan and buy a small hand held net

I would have ground the concrete island down to a finer finish before moving in. It's too late now, the dust would get everywhere despite using proper vacuuming techniques. Decorative concrete is usually finished with a grinder.

Expensive and uses a lot of electricity, versus opening the glass doors = free.
@columbenz3 жыл бұрын
Seldom needed in UK climate. They were going to install one because of a fault in the design (too much glass creating a hot glasshouse), but there are much better solutions, such as opening the door.
