I salute Lovie for what he did. Sports fans and talking heads are too fickle. If Lovie was actively trying to tank, then critics would rip him a new one saying how he's cheating the game, has no honor & cheating the fans who paid good money. Stephen A would say how he's disgusted that the Texans didn't even try and that Lovie should be ashamed of himself. But he did the honorable thing and attempted to give fans & players something to be proud of. Most of the players on that team desperately need tape that their agents can show other teams so they can earn a new contract and Lovie gave them that. People seem to forget that we are barely a year removed from Ross allegedly telling Brian Flores to tank. Flores said hell no and is part of the reason Miami are in the playoffs now. The Texans are a trash organization. They disrespected D Hop, JJ Watt & Watson (before the scandal). Lovie was smart to look out for himself and not do any favors for the team that was going to fire him either way.

Stephen A says Lovie’s years after the super bowl wasn’t so great. He went 10-6 and got fired. Since then the Bears haven’t been nearly as good as they were when Lovie was their coach. The problem goes back before Cal. Remember this is the team that had to trade Duane Brown for nothing because he refused to play for them after Bob McNair said the "prisoners are running the prison" during the kneeling story of the NFL. That trade is what lead the Texans to have to give the farm for Tunsil. I think the McNair family is that typical slightly racist rich texas family. Now they have silver spoon Cal running the team and they are more concerned with players and staff holding Christian conservative values than being able to put together a competent football team.

Word on the street is: the Texans want Bryce Young only. The Bears also know that there are at least 5-6 other QB-needy teams in the top 11 picks. They can trade the top pick to someone else who wants Young, who can then leap ahead of the Bears to take him. The Bears are definitely trading down. If they can trade the top pick to the Texans, then the #2 pick can be offered to another team to trade down again, likely to Indy at 4.

They also played some close games...I know many white coaches that had worse or similar records and kept their job for multiple losing seasons...
