Man you can really see the nervousness when speaking about the transparency of the bank transactions. It is clear at that point he is either lying outright or not telling what he knows. He must have blinked about 400 times in 30 seconds when telling the story about the letterhead from the bank that Ray allegedly showed him.

As long as we had more monet in the accounts than player funds I didn't see a problem. There was over $300M in player funds and you only had $35M in the bank. Also paid like $434M in distributions. Thats pretty much what you guys owed the players in the end. So you pretty much distributed the players funds among yourselves.

This interview really picked up in this part. Howard dodging a lot of questions, and not doing a very good job of it. Interviewer following-up on questions more and seems more attentive. Makes me think he was just slow-playing early on. With 5 more parts, I am liking where this is going.

1. He recieves an email asking if player funds are held in trust. 2. This motivates him to seek the answer to that question for the next 3 months. 3. A detailed answer is sent in response to the question but Lederer somehow doesn't know about it????? Either his managment skills are worse than any McDonalds manager or he's just straight up lying.

A liar is always so easy to catch, just let him do a lot of talking and eventually he will start making mistakes. Howard gets very uncomfortable at 11:00 when he forgets that he claimed to have never been aware of any money processing issues and then confirms that the e-mail (related to this very subject) was very important to him... The little cough just was amusing to hear as he is getting nervous and the movement at 11:17 is just the icing on the cake :-)

In my opinion every single time the question about player funds comes up, he pushes the subject as far away from him as he can, the only thing hes telling is that he were only the marketer at the company and soft manager or w/e, obviously the biggest thief is the guy that messed up with the player funds, and hes trying to point the finger at ray, that i guess had a big part, but in my opinion and view im getting from this is that he were actually as informed as ray were him self about the issue

It seems odd that commingling customer transferred funds with general operating funds along with member profit distribution funds in one account seemed reasonable to Howard Lederer. This seems an obvious red flag to any reasonably educated person whether it be a formal education or life experience. The CEO may not have a formal education but Lederer does. He did attend, for a time, Columbia University. Lederer convieniently appears naive trying to answer some questions on day to day operations that may show negligence on his part, but has no problem interpreting the motive of communications between the CEO and customer questions regarding customer trust funds and other conduct of the CEO. For a poker pro he sure fidgets a lot when answering uncomfortable questions.

The first problem is the fact that you had a bunch of poker players running a 1/2 billion $ business who were not at all qualified to do so.The second problem is that they obviously used company assets for a money grab (loaning Eric Lindgren $2MM, etc.)The third problem is that the whole online US poker industry was not regulated at that time. I played small stakes on this site and some others for fun and knew that my money was flowing through some overseas account because it wasn't legal to do so in the U.S. I thought about this many times as to what would happen if the overseas company processing the money went under or did something shady. Unfortunately the history of our civilization is built around greed and without any regulation this was bound to happen sooner or later.
