Throat singing is not in anyway related to China. It is native Altai mountain people such as Mongols and other Tureg Mongol tribes.

Wolf totem is their take on their ancient Ghengis Khan war cry song. That is why you feel pumped up for battle! They are also music professors in their university and have toured around the world. Their own spin on Metallica are intriguing and their video productions are as well. Must review more, including the Song of Women with Lizzi Hale.

The Hu is a Mongolian folk metal band formed in 2016.With traditional Mongolian instrumentation, including the Morin khuur, the Tovshuur, and Mongolian throat singing, the band calls their style of music "hunnu rock", hu inspired by the Hunnu, an ancient Mongol/Turkic empire, known as Hünnü in Mongolia. Some of the band's lyrics include old Mongolian war cries and poetry.

Why Mongol/Turkic empire? Turks is not related with Mongolian people and Mongolian history and Mongolian heritage and traditions. Turk was established just in 1924. There is no record of Turks in world ancient history

“The Wolf Totem” is actually from a 12th century Mongolian poem that the HU shortened and put to music. The “XXL Violin” (as you called it) is the Morin Khuur (Horse Head Fiddle), it has 2 “strings” that (traditionally) are made from the tail hairs from a horse (traditionally the hairs must come from the player’s own horse to bind player to instrument and vice versa), the “Male” string has 150 hairs and the “Female” string has 130 hairs. The “guitar” is actually a Tovshuur (Mongolian Lute) and only has 3 strings.

FIY. 8:56 It's not really Erhu. It's called Morin Khuur (English name is Horsehead fiddle), only exists in Mongolia. The Erhu can be traced back to proto-Mongolic instruments which first appeared in China during the Tang dynasty.
