FYI after maximum range, missiles explode they don't continue on. Happy New Year to you. This is a good build for group queue, but needs backup weapons for solo queue.

I run a Viper with 4 HML and 5 flamers. It's a goofy build but in a brawl I support the assaults by shutting down enemy assaults.

I love my roughneck. I run mine with 3LMG, a MRM 40, and 3 medium lasers. Basically I can ruin the day of anybody within 500m but outside of that I am useless.

Get 2 MRM 20 and put a lot of ammo and a CASE to protect it with LE 300. You gotta give chase to hug them fast. A total of 1950 MRM ammo.

About "Gyr" pronunciation, it has been getting on my nerves as well, so, time for research. From Wikipedia on the bird of prey the Gyrfalcon, which appears on the Jade Kite hero: "The gyrfalcon was formally described by the Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus in 1758 in the tenth edition of his Systema Naturae under its current binomial name Falco rusticolus. The genus name is the Late Latin term for a falcon, Falco, from falx, falcis, a sickle, referencing the claws of the bird. The species name is from the Latin rusticolus, a countryside-dweller, from rus, ruris, "country" and colere, "to dwell". The bird's common name comes from French gerfaucon; in medieval Latin, it is gyrofalco. megarural3000 Gyrfalcon = Gierfalke in German. This "Gier" has something to do with rotation (search for Gierachse). In this context, wether the German word Gier, nor the translation Gyr have a link to Geier. A Geierfalke is a different animal.

I'd say a single flamer is more of a danger to you than the enemy, because frankly in the situations where it would be useful, the enemy likely would have overheated without your assistance, while in situations where you might panic the heat ramp up can be significantly worse for you.

If I get striped, it would be a mistake not killing me! I'll be using my scrap metal to the death targeting enemy mechs, holding locks, calling out targets and points of interest and constantly being in the way of my enemies to get them to shoot me and not my team, going between my teammates and the enemy acting as friendly cover. Simply confusing the enemy teams at times. I have won more then a few games like this that otherwise would have been a defeat for sure.

I would love to see a flamer/MG/heat sink boat with ECM and stealth armor, on the hottest MWO maps. Just lie in wait, invite heavies and assaults to a surprise barbecue / crit party, and reposition. A very niche concept, but potentially fun in a lance that cooperates strategically.
