My grandfather was a full Huichol from Jalisco. To this day, I use some of the natural herbs. First time I saw the Huichol women wash in the river, many years ago, I asked my grandfather if their washer was broken! I love my Native roots. I'm grateful to my grandfather for showing us who we are. When we we would go to Mexico with him, he would always tell us, "this is ur seed, there is no other, this is where u come from!

Indeed, people do not realize their language is considered as one of Mexico's national languages just along with Spanish.

When I visit Mexico , my hometown in Zacatecas it’s has a lot of huicholes though they are poor, the people from my town don’t really care about them. The old ladies usually go to the plaza and sell their bracelets and the musicians usually are an entertaining for the Mexican people. So little of them can get out of poverty

Huichol are Native Americans. They’re Native to the Americas. I bet you’re a European American. Make sure you specify that because that is disrespectful to indigenous people of America

I was born in Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico but was raised in Los Angeles, California. I don't know if I am a descendant of the Huichol people, but I feel like I am somehow connected to them. I love learning about indigenous groups in Mexico like the Huichol and also Native Americans. I have so much respect for their culture and way of life. They are in my opinion who we should strive to be. One with God, Earth, and Nature. Sending everyone love, peace, and joy.✌️

where did you see that? I looked at civil records of ancestors from 1830s, 40s and 50s, and they say "indigena", but they just don't say which tribe, neither do the catholic records. There are tons of tribes in Zacatecas

Huichol people are native to the Americas, therefor are also Native Americans like all Indigenous people in the continent, not "native Mexicans," which was made up to homogenise all of the people, tribes, and diversity in Mexico.

I saw towards the end that a woman had vitiligo. Is that common amongst Huichol people or is that rare?
@phillynott10602 жыл бұрын
Huichol People are Ethnically very close to other Native American Tribes, of course there is a lot of Spanish Blood in there as well as that can not be helped when a country colonises another, but Huichol People are basically very similar to other Native American Tribes therefore Vitiligo is as present in Huichols as it is other Native American Tribes.
